My riding plan for the summer is to commute to work by bike as much as the weather allows and to do some longer rides on the weekends. My ride to work is 11.25 km..

May 6 - 22.5 km
So far it is giving me at least 600 extra calories to play with each day and not extending my commute much more.0 -

First post here! Didn't know there were message boards for myfitnesspal until tonight.
I'm a newbie cyclist, riding a mountain/hybrid on a local 44mi paved bike path for exercise and weight loss.
I've been riding for roughly 6 weeks, started my weight loss journey at 320lbs, current weight this AM of 268.2lbs
May 1 - 22.00mi @10.74mph
May 5 - 30.00mi @10.57mph
May 6 - 20.04mi @13.57mph

Major problem, as I was close to finishing my ride, my right crank sheared right off. Very fortunate that I didn't crash. I've been trying to be so careful since my hip replacement in December. On the other hand, my bike is out of commission, I'm out of town & my other bike is at home 900 miles away. My plan is I will take my bike in next Friday, & then ride my other bike. Maybe each of you could ride a couple miles for me this next week?? To all, have a great week!

Cycling is an excellent way to lose weight in conjunction with myfitnesspal. I know because I have lost a significant amount of weight in the past using this combination. My problem is that I fall off the wagon all to easily so it is hard for me to stay on track. In any case I have a hard week-long Cycle Oregon with lots of climbing looming in September and I really need to drop some lbs and get in shape. So far in May I have 25 miles (including Mt. Diablo) on May 2nd, 12 miles on the 7th and 28.5 miles on the 9th for a total of 65.5 miles.0
