So... I started 9/1/20. I was winded walking up 15 steps in my house. Fast forward to February 2021... I jog up them in sets of 10. I am both very proud and very humbled by what my body can do.26

My 17-year-old granddaughter lives with my hubby and me. She's taking a Global Foods class in high school, but because she is a virtual student, I get the privilege of buying the supplies for all of her cooking projects (and also have to put up with her messing up my kitchen in the process........) The up side is that we get to eat everything she makes. Last night, she was up until past 11:00 chopping dark chocolate, whipping heavy cream and slicing strawberries. The result is a gorgeous cream pie that my hubby and I do NOT need to eat! We also have a daughter and her 2 kiddos living with us. Yesterday the youngest turned 5 so we also have mermaid cupcakes and the makings for ice cream sundaes. Instead of keeping the pie around to torture us, I brought it in to school today and put it in the faculty room fridge. I can guarantee it will be gone by lunchtime! Last year, I would have just eaten my way through it (whether I was truly hungry or not) just so it wouldn't go to waste!18

I felt like my stomach was feeling a little firmer under my squishy belly fat; I was like, it might just be wishful thinking, but, when I measured, I was 1.8 inches less than the last time I measured (~2 weeks before)!!28

Ok this is a big one! I'm wearing the Dragon Pants! Not just to try on, but actually wearing them. And I think I may need a belt. Just for some background, they are white, low rise bell bottoms that hung in my closet for years that I desperately wanted to wear and honestly never believed I would.

Feels good!

Pulled a 565 lb rackpull yesterday, but screwed up the video. I do have video of the 545 lb pull. Both were PRs!

My jewelry fits differently, especially my rings. They used to feel too tight, so tight, that I seldom wore them. Then, I used to need a little lotion or baby oil to remove them. Now, I can remove them with little effort at all.18

I got back on the mfp wagon at the end of October. I was compelled to do this after an appointment with my gyn. She gave me two options: either work on my weight and, see her in 4 months or, she was sending me for a blood draw right then. I am terrified of needles so, getting back to mfp it was! Well, my follow up appt is tomorrow morning and, I hit my 1st goal of 10% loss last weekend. I emailed my gyn and, asked if I could cancel my appt with her as, it was basically a weight check in. I told her the goals I'd made when I walked out of her office. I told her what I'd done to succeed in obtaining my first goal. I hit send and, expected her to say she still wanted to see me. She replied with this and, while I was proud of myself for what I'd done, I've never had a Dr. be proud of my weight loss:
You are a ROCKSTAR! This is amazing. I wish everyone could do what you are doing. Thanks for reaching out. 100% you do NOT need the appointment. I will cancel it for you. Keep up the excellent work 🙂 I am so impressed with your diligence. Nice work!

So, this was a little kick in the pants.30 -

I ate something for dinner that was a much lower calorie version of something I would have eaten in the past and IT WAS TASTY AND NOT AN AWFUL ORDEAL TO ENDURE. I can't tell you how excited I was to actually enjoy something healthier, as opposed to eating something healthier because I felt I should and being miserable for it!14

In January/February I tapered down and stopped taking all my OxyContin and oxycodone which I had been taking since spine cancer in 2018. Before I was diagnosed I had just lost 30lb and 2 dress sizes, I was weight training 3x a week and super fit, strong and healthy. Really strange to enter cancer treatment in the apparent best shape of my life! Now I need to get back there. This year I am determined to transform my body again,37

I took a whirlwind trip to visit my son in Miami, ate what I wanted, and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. It felt great to know that I would come home and just get back into the swing, which I have. How wonderful not to be worrying about my weight, to have faith in the process and be willing to give myself the time I need to get healthy and fit again.14

I sat in the seats at my university's theater tonight without having to squeeze myself between the armrests. My hips didn't even reach the edges of the seat, so I had enough room to put my arms beside me without even using the armrests at all.23

Oh that reminds me! I have a necklace that I didn’t wear when it was first given to me because it was too tight around my neck. I started wearing it lately and it now hangs all the way down below my collarbones. I actually think it would be better a bit shorter!8 -
Been back on MFP since January, so far my blood pressure is down from avg. 170/88 to 140/78, so heading if the right direction.
My wedding ring fits properly for the first time in years, and I've just passed the 500KM mark on my new exercise bike

When we stopped using shop bought sauces and ready meals about 6 months ago, and started making our own, we really though we'd have to compromise of taste. After some trail and error, and a few failures, we now make everything ourselves, replacing most of the salt and sugar with herbs and spices.
The best thing about this is that friends have asked us what sauce we use for our pasta and chilli dishes, and the look on their faces when we tell them it's home made is all the encouragement we need to stick with homemade14 -
My calves just ripped my leggings open. Haha.
