Yesterday, by the time I got around to my bike ride (delayed by taking my little girl to see the squirrels and ducks, so worth it) dusk was falling and DH was not keen on my going out. So I didn't go
So I decided that I WAS going out today, no matter what. Until I got up this morning . . .
It was cold. REALLY cold (just not used to very low temperatures here, and I know that some people on here have to tolerate much lower, but we don't do sub-zero very often).
It was windy. REALLY windy. 17mph, easterly wind which I really hate as I end up cycling about four miles into it. Usually in bottom gear. Must look really funny, cycling into the wind like a crazy thing.
It was snowing, intermittently. I am not a fan on cycling in snow as it gets a bit slippery and I have a serious aversion to falling off.
Plus, and this was the hardest thing of all, my little girl wanted to play "shops" with me, which usually means I have to use my real money to "buy" her stock (toys). At the end, she gets her toys back and keeps my money. When anyone else plays with her, she gives THEM the money to buy her stuff with. Anyway.
So, it was difficult. My DH dealt with the biggest hurdle and told my lovely little girl that he'd play shops with her so that I could go out on the bike (I still felt guilty though but I did play with her later on in the day).
So I went out. In the cold. In the snow. In the horrible, horrible wind. With the thought that if it got too much, then I could always go home and revert to Plan B (stationary bike at the gym, yuck).
It was rough but I told myself that I'd just get to the next "landmark". Then the next, and the next until I finally reached the highest point.
And I'd had enough. The snow was getting in my eyes. It was covering my glasses. The wind was trying to blow me off the bike. I hadn't started the "into the headwind" part of the ride. I was so cold (apart from my hands - woollen glove liners are life savers). I was tired.
But, the highest point means that the worst half of the ride is over. And it's the halfway point. So there was no point in turning back. Or so I told myself.
So I kept going. And going. And going. It seemed to take forever. But that may have been because I was just so cold (despite two jackets, double gloves, a scarf and a headband to keep my ears warm-ish).
Got home cold - very cold - tired but exhilarated.
There's something very satisfying about proving to yourself that you CAN do it, regardless of what is thrown at you.
However, I think that later in the week it's going to snow continuously for a couple of days so the bike will have to stay in the garage.
(Un)fortunately, this means that I will have to use my biking energy in doing some decluttering.
I just might be looking forward to that . . . I love decluttering but my family hate it. I don't know why, because I only get rid of the real junk. The rest I sell on Ebay (to fund my next bike but don't tell them that!)27 -

I went in for a haircut this morning and my friend who cuts my hair was blown away by the results of the keto diet I have been on since the start of the year. I got to tell her all about the foods I eat, and how the diet is working very well for me even though I have limited time for exercise these days.
I wont get into numbers since this is about NSVs, but I now weigh the least I have in a very long time - even less than when I had my initial big weight loss back in 2007.
Also, I'm hoping to be able to report another NSV to you all this weekend after I participate in my favorite 5K of the year. My first goal is just to beat my time from last year - which was 36:04. I feel like that one will be pretty easy to achieve. The second goal is to score a PR by beating my current best time of 30:56. And the third and biggest goal is to score a PR with a 2 on the front end, as in 29:59 or less. I will be happy with any or all of these, but I really hope to get at least the first two.14 -

My fasting blood glucose was in the default diabetic target range for the first time (I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago, have only been testing for a week). My dietician thinks it is likely I will be able to achieve normal levels if I keep this up.21

Which is good because my race addiction is making me broke lol27

seems kinda funny, but when the clean clothes are in the folded piles according to who's they belong to in the family I have been finding my shirts mixed in with my 17yo son's on occasion because mine are no longer the size of a twin bed sheet.52

Nice NSV! Wait until you slip on a pair of pants and realize they're not yours, that's another eye-opener that you're losing the weight!14 -

I can wear my 14 year old's stuff. This is not his idea of cool though. I remember when I wore Size "twin size bed sheet" so I can relate!
Unfortunately I also get his under wear in my pile way to regularly.18 -
I was able to take off my engagement ring!!!! It was a tight squeeze, but I finally did it! Now on to being able to take off my wedding ring.
Btw, I'm very happily married, but my rings have been stuck on my fingers for years, and I'd like to be able to get them cleaned. Plus tight rings on pudgy fingers is not such a great look. I can't wait until they come on and off normally.26 -
Walked into my daughter's house this morning and the first thing she says to me, "You look thinner today." What a great way to start out my day!30
