That's amazing!5 -
The river where I go kayaking usually has downed trees across it at different spots. So I can only go up to a certain point before I have to turn around and go back to the bridge where I started. I think the most I've ever been able to do is a total of 7kms. Last weekend the entire river was miraculously clear. So I just kept going. And going.
12kms and a serious case of spaghetti arms later, I have a new distance personal best!33 -
Receptionist just called to me as I walked past, 'So how much have you lost then! you look like you've lost loads!'
odd conversation starter, but I do vaguely know her. hehe. She thought I'd lost more then 2 stone as well.
Feeling good now!!
(had the, 'how have you done it?' question. Reply: eat less . She responded with, 'ahhh yes, eating more healthy' - internally I sighed and thought, that isn't what I said, but yes, yes I have been subsisting on leaves and chicken)
and also actively had to restrain myself from raving about MFP. haha24 -
I went out to a restaurant preview last night (I write about food for a living so this was a professional obligation). They served five courses paired with six cocktails. I tasted every drink and every course but didn't finish any of them -- left booze in the glasses and food on every plate. I still went over my calorie goal for the day but I'm so damn proud of myself I was able to take a few bites and let it go. It was great food, too, so I could have easily eaten it all.
I also managed to log it all (or made my best attempt -- non-chain restaurant food is a *kitten* to estimate) and I think I should be able to make up the overage with slightly increased exercise this week.41 -

How did you score a cherry gig like that, you lucky ducky?5 -
My pants are falling down! My belt is too big, and I need to go shopping. Wohoo!25

My sleeves fit. Not too many people talk about this but as a top-heavy woman, tight-in-the-shoulders is a constant clothes fitting struggle. The clothes are currently own are now actually comfortable in the shoulders (although a little loose elsewhere, lol. Thank goodness for cinching belts).20

I passed my favorite take-out sushi place on the way home and ordered what I thought was a small meal, compared to what I used to order. Toted it up on MFP when I got home and it was twice the calories I thought and 98 carbs - my blood sugar can't handle more than half that without spiking. So I put half of it in the fridge for later. And it turns out I wasn't hungry after eating half, I have gotten used to smaller portions.
Now if I only knew some way to make stale sushi taste better!20 -
A patient presented at my work yesterday, and it was a woman from a nearby town who I had spoken to often about 6-7 years ago. She kept staring at me, looking sideways until finally she said "Do I know you? I know you right? Wow! Have you lost a heap of weight? How much have you lost?"
I politely smiled. Almost 50kg I replied.
Sadly I realise we live in a world that pushes away those who do not fit the mold. Anything less than perfection isn't good enough yet perfection doesn't exist. This only transfers to a person, and encourages feelings of sadness, uselessness and worthlessness. Also very sad was the fact that it took almost 50kg for this woman to truly smile and see me properly.
My NSV? For the first time yesterday I felt visible.
But more importantly I realise that if others are now seeing me for who I really am, then perhaps I can begin to see the real me too. Right?28 -

You're totally right! This is always a problem for me - even if something fits everywhere else, sleeves are often too tight . Great job!!

@cbailey989 I will google that one. I'm a funny shape boobwise can't remember last time I had a bra of any type that fitted right. Hoping a few more lbs off might help in that area !!2

When all my pre-weight gain pants (size 6) no longer fit.
Good excuse for me to go shopping!15 -
@cbailey989 ahh sadly they seem to only be available in the USA, I'm in the U.K. They do look good though0

My most recent is that I declined an invite to Mexican food, because I knew that I couldn't walk out of there without a ton of chips and at least 3 margaritas. I was super happy the next morning when I was able to get up and go running with no regret from the day before. (I'm on my last few pounds and need to be super vigilant.)21

Despite having a bad few weekends and being up on the scale (way more than I'd like to be) another one of the personal trainers complimented on me and told me how I didn't just lose weight, I completely transformed.
I need to get over myself and accept the compliment :P24 -
Okay, so despite my size 14 jeans feeling awful and constricting today (TOM bloat), I'm currently rocking size 12 shorts from the same brand. They're pretty tight, but I'm thinking that within 1-2 weeks they will fit perfectly.19

I like being able to feel my pelvic bones.....they are so awesome.22
-
275 lb squats for five.32

TWO! Count 'em! TWO NSV's today! (1) Horrible, stressful evening so I went for a 2.5 mile run. (2) I had to stop several times to pull my pants up. Time for newer, better, and smaller gear!26

Tried on last year's summer clothes and golf attire. None of it fits.23

I realised this morning that On Saturday I am going to my nieces hen do. Her wedding is on 18 June. Then in July I have two weeks holiday. Then in August I have my own daughters wedding. I will be going over calories on all of those events with out a doubt. At this point in the year, Old me would have said sod it and stoped counting etc for 3 months. New me knows that if I stick with it in between the damage won't be irreversible. I'm pleased with the change in my mind set57
-
I got my butt out of bed at 4:20 in the freaking morning to go to the gym...41
-
My daughter gave me a hug this morning.
Her arms go right at my waist height, and she said to me "holy cow, my arms go around further mama!!"
That was pretty cool!!!36 -
Swam 3km this morning despite a fellow swimmer who was determined to drown me! (he swam in a way that created tsunami-like waves and we always seemed to pass each other on my breaths haha)
and resisted chips at lunch. I had the calories spare for them, but am banking them for a night out Saturday. That's an extra beer I can have now!26 -
The scale hasn't been moving so I'm cherishing this one. I ran into my husband's ex-wife last week at work. I said hello and got the weird face/"hellooooo?" response and I realized she didn't recognize me. We have known each other for years, are very friendly, and I frequently pick up their daughter after her visits with her Mom (but Mom stays in the house and sends her out, most of our contact is via phone). She said I looked great and admitted she didn't even recognize me.35
-
My most recent NSV would be bench pressing 105 for 2 solid sets of 6 reps23

So, C25K. Day 3 of Week 5. 5-minute walk, 20-minute run (or plod in my case) then 5-minute cool down.
Up to now, the furthest we've run is 8 minutes.
I was apprehensive. Very apprehensive.
My son was more positive and said that we'd be able to do it. I had my doubts. That's a long time, 20 minutes.
We went to the local nature reserve as it was forecast to be hot today (as an aside, it is) and there are shaded trails for most of the way round. We also went early before it got too hot.
We started off walking briskly. I was dreading the "Beep - begin running for twenty minutes". Every second that passed the trepidation in my chest was getting tighter and tighter.
Then the beep went. We began running (sorry, plodding). After about five minutes, I was thinking that I'd have to stop well before the 20 minutes was up. But we carried on.
After eight minutes, I made the mistake of looking at the app to see how much longer we had to run. I don't know why I bothered as the app states when you're halfway through the workout. So I already knew that we weren't yet halfway through the run as the app remained silent. Anyway, I looked at it and found we had 12 minutes left to run. Now I knew that I was not going to make it.
We plodded on. And on. And on. At one point we were chased by a couple of dogs but they were called off by their owners before we had to run faster to get away from them. We circumnavigated mud, lots of it (we've had plenty of rain recently). We managed to terrorise a couple of squirrels who ran off up trees and scared a few small children.
I'm getting quite desperate to stop now. The run seemed to be never-ending. Then my son developed a stitch so I managed to distract myself by trying to help him. No idea if it did, but it certainly helped me!
I looked at the app again. Six minutes to go. We are still plodding along. I'm trying to go as slowly as possible, just so that I make it round the trail!
Five minutes to go. I'm starting to wonder if I actually can make it for the full 20 minutes.
We plod on. I look again at the app. 90 seconds left. What seems like just a few seconds later, the app helpfully tells us that we have one minute of running left. My son and I both counted that 60 seconds down. I was so relieved to hear that "Beep - begin your cool-down" that I actually didn't really consider the fact that we'd plodded/run for a straight 20 minutes.
I am astounded that we managed it. I had no doubts that my son would, he's always been endurance over speed but I was so unsure of my own abilities.
But I have done it. And I can do it again.
Self-belief is a wonderful thing.57 -

Yay! I knew you could do it!
I know it's silly to some, but that 20 minute run was a turning point in my life. Losing weight was one thing, but running was something I couldn't even do before I was obese. When I did that 20 minute run, I knew I could do ANYTHING if I took my time and just kept trying!17
