Purchased a new swimsuit. 12-14 last year, 4-6 this year.35

Went shopping for a top to wear dancing, the one i had been wearing was too big, this time I was able to go to a regular shop, not a plus size, and I had a choice, so was able to pick based on something besides " it's the only one that fits"25

My pajama pants that used to fall all the time when they're tied now fit me well even if they are untied.
I gained enough weight that my doctor officially decided to not put me on TPN (IV nutrition therapy)66 -

I bought a pair of skinny jeans off a Facebook selling page ( second hand) they are a size 12 ( US size 8). Took a risk as they were only £2.00, they looked tiny, in fact they were a 12 Petite, and they fit!! Bit short in the leg by about 5 inches but perfect as summer capri pants. My summer wardrobe of teeny tiny clothes is almost complete22

The last three months:
- Haven't had a layoff from lifting for an upper-respiratory illness - which are what plagued me all of last year.
- I weigh 15 lbs more than I did, but kept the same waist size.
- Changed programming and just started stalling now a bit after adding sixty pounds to my powerlifting total so far.
- Went back to large t-shirts because the mediums are far too tight through the shoulders.
- Blew out two pairs of pants from "squatter's thighs."
- Found Urban Star pants fit well, because the usual off the shelf brands, if they fit my legs, are stupid-huge through the waist.
- There's a good chance I'll be training my step-son's step-son this weekend.
- Got told "No way are you fifty" by a co-worker. He thought I was thirty-five.
2017 has been a good year so far.39 -
I bought some new clothes recently, because my old ones were falling off, including a new bra. My new shorts are already loose in the waist - and my new bra is too tight in the band, what the heck? Husband says, "Haven't you noticed? You have back muscles now!"
Wow - my whole life I've had shoulder blades that stick out and no noticeable back muscles at all. I guess rowing is doing something for me!26 -
My first NSV, small one - I was getting my things from the locker at the gym and as I turned, looking down, I saw someone on the other side of the window and thought about their lower legs 'I can't wait til I can see my ankles again' - and at the same time realised they were my ankles and calves reflected in the glass and not a person on the other side! Of course they immediately took on elephantine proportions again but I can't stop looking at my ankles now that I know they're starting to emerge!34

I went into the GNC and bought only what I needed (protein powder), and I did not even stop to look at all of the protein bars, protein cookies, and nut butters. This is winning. Usually I can't walk past the protein snacks without buying more than I should. Protein cake/candy is still cake/candy!20

Two NSV's this week. Was trying on dresses and fit into a size 12 very well, so I looked for a size 10. They didn't have any, so I grabbed the 8 just to see. Okay, so it was a bit snug, but I got into a fitted size 8 dress. I haven't fit into a single digits size since I was 11!!!! Two more months and I should be there! Victory #2: I went swimming with my daughter and niece, I always needed to use the stairs/ladder to get out of the pool without looking like an epileptic walrus. Today, I swam up to the side and with just my arms was able to push myself up without and problem at all. I could also just hold myself up, lift one leg out and put my foot on the side to just get out. Yay!!! No more awkward exits from the pool!!!!33

I no longer float when I'm in the pool. My buoyancy has changed drastically. I marvel at being a sinker now.16

I bought a new pair of workout pants yesterday. I always buy at the same store but try them on anyway and I usually wear a 2XL but while in the changing room, I noticed I had accidentally grabbed a XL. Decided to try them on anyway and THEY FIT!32

I joined my gym 1 year ago, a small garage gym, strength and conditioning. At the time my objective was to finish workouts without dying in the corner. Modifications would frequently have been made I just wasn't able to keep up.
I avoided conditioning class and focused on strength till December as I just couldn't handle the intensity. I stuck with it. Since December I put a huge amount of effort in to conditioning and cardiovascular fitness. It's paid off, we track various metrics in the gym, for one of them 10 minutes on the assault bike for calories and I have come out on top of the females. For the longest time I just wanted my numbers to be up with everyone else at the bottom.
There is still lots of room for improvement, I firmly believe there are others who train with me who could inch past me, but I'm up there. I want them to challenge themselves as that will push me too.
There are lots of other metrics that I'm not up top, but that's just future challenges, and really once I'm getting the best out of me that's great.

Could be that you have the ringer on your phone turned off. If I have mine off, even with the volume up, I don't hear the voice.4 -
I recently ordered some clothes online and had them shipped to me. I am swimming in the SM shirts and the size 4 shorts don't stay up -- so everything has to go back. I hope the XS shirts work.
I'm creating a library at home, and yesterday I painted all day. I am worn out. I wonder how many calories you burn doing that? Except for a few very short breaks, I was moving from 9 AM to around 6 PM. I have one more wall to do and then I'm done. I'm getting excited: the furniture arrives Wednesday.

So I've always, always, always had wide, fat feet. I cannot remember a time that I didn't have wide, fat feet. Even as a kid, I distinctly remember my feet being wide, fat little things. I digress.
I needed new shoes for work and I found a cute pair of shoes that I liked online. Bad news: they only came in medium width and even had a notice warning people they were medium width. I need wide width shoes. It's just a general rule of life. My feet can't fit into medium width shoes.
But I decided to order the shoes and try them anyways because they were so cute and I thought if they don't fit I can always return them.
I get the shoes in and I'm looking at these tiny little shoes and I'm thinking, "this isn't going to work. not even close."
So I try the shoes on and they're roomy. Roomy! I'm wearing them now and I can't stop looking down at my feet. Where did my wide feet go?
I've always had "bear paw" feet too but all of a sudden they look much narrower. I bought some new running shoes and i'm the same way....I can't stop looking at my feet when I have them on! My feet look fit, if that makes sense. They truly look like they belong in my new running shoes15 -
so slightly downer, i guess . . . but i scored a requisition from my gp to go get my hip mri'd. strictly, a requisition that's goign to put me on a list and will one-day get me my hip mri'd.
it's a victory for a few small reasons.
- one, inertia/apathy/maybe-it-will-just-go-away on my part.
- two, assertiveness. i marched in there and pre-empted the whole do-your-due-diligence-first thing by asserting that i have DONE all that stuff. which i think is pretty much actually true.
- three, informedness. i gave her a business case about why it ought to be done. now, instead of when something goes really wrong. even though i'm still walking around, i can still fall and get up on my own, and so forth. i must have done a good job; she bought it i love my health collective with a strong flame, but it has to be said they're very much of the rub-broccoli-on-it medical school. but i happened to hit the right buttons this time.
- and four, don't believe all the hype. from atrocity stories that are so well-loved, i was thinking it could well be a couple of years before i'd get called. come to find out it's probably only a couple of months.

I also recently painted all the main rooms including the ceilings in my house. I lost extra weight those weeks! It's a great workout. I counted low and did about 100 calories an hour11 -
I worked out both yesterday and today and I'm starting to see definition in my arms.17

Up to 100 lbs on my squats - 6 good reps on 3 sets and a few extra at the end. Started in January with bodyweight.
Also, walked the long path at the river walk instead of the short one - five miles instead of two.24 -
*My old wellies don't fit anymore. They used to be tight around calves, now falling off18

I'm usually more of the type that just likes to sit back and be inspired by other peoples posts, but I had a few this last week that really reassured me that I'm at least started on the right path.
1. (With a little background) My company gives us a discount on health insurance premiums if we have our "numbers" checked each year. This happened in February and was the kick in the pants I needed to get started losing. All of my blood work came back fairly ugly, talked to the doc and he wanted me to try and lose weight before sticking me on any meds. Of course I came up with the usual "I'll start at the beginning of the week". Well something always seem to come up. Finally started at the beginning of April. Fast forward to last week and my numbers came down to normal. For some reason that worried the doctor as much as my numbers being high, he thought there should be a moderate amount of improvement, but not that much. After being poked and prodded for a couple more hours that day, he finally gave me a "passing" grade.
2. Along with blood work the company started having body comp tested. This was after many people complained when the people doing the testing told several that they were over-weight and needed to go on a diet and the same peoples doctors were telling them they were in perfect health. But I got mine done and I had 120.5 lbs of body fat. This was using the bod pod deal. After having a good check up with blood work I wanted to see what ratio I was losing fat to muscle, just so I had an idea if my original goal weight was going to put me in the over-fat category. They weighed me in and I had lost 52 lbs of overall weight, and was down to 67.6 lbs of body fat. This means that I picked up almost 1 lb of muscle instead of losing some.
3. I hadn't bought any new clothes since starting out. I was still wearing the size 42 jeans and 3X shirts. I'm heading out on a family vacation in a couple weeks and figured I wanted to look some what presentable. I tried on size 38 jeans, and they were actually baggy. The 36's I ended up buying are a little snug, but as long as I don't put a lot of stuff in my pockets they actually look great. I had decided to try on an XL shirt and it fit perfect, or so I thought. After trying it on I grabbed 2 more XL shirts and went and checked out. After getting home I realized that the original shirt I had tried on was not an XL, but an L, it was on the wrong hanger.
This all came at a time that the scale started moving a lot slower than expected.47 -
I put my own diet and exercise needs first today!
Occasionally we have step challenges at work, I'm usually well up for this kind of thing. Its all good right?
However last year, just as i was starting to really do well with food logging and 30 day shred, I joined one of the step challenges. It totally threw me off course. The other team members are super fit, super sporty people. I mean two were consistently logging 20k+ steps daily, and one getting in 40k steps very often! Great right, the best people to be in the team with? But i have some substantial weight to lose, and on workdays i have to really push to get to just 10k! I couldn't keep up with them, I ended up ditching 30 day shred to fit the steps in, which in hindsight was much better for me than just walking for hours. My appetite was just immense some days i imagine from all the exercise.
It was too many changes at once for me, and it all left me feeling constantly disappointed with myself. It just kicked me right off of the proverbial wagon.
I was asked last week to join. I thought it over, and this time I've said NO! I will join the next one if i'm ready, but I realize now that i need to follow my own journey. No more trying to do it with others, no more comparing myself with others. Its more important to me this year to to make changes that I enjoy and can sustain.
So i think thats a NSV? Feel kind of weirdly relieved.

I woke up in a really bad mood and felt achy everywhere, but still hit the gym before work and even made a PR ^_^22

I think this is super awesome. Exercise in a way that is right for you. Walking isn't for everyone, although it is important to keep moving about. I don't like working out at the gym or doing boot camp type stuff. But we know that there are people out there who do! Embrace what works for you and don't give in to fit in with the crowd.13 -
All of my shorts are way too big now, so I got out the suitcase filled with my old "skinny clothes" that I packed away as I outgrew them. I pulled out the first pair of shorts and they were still too big! I've overshot the larger of my old clothes and had to dig down near the bottom to find a pair that fit.32

my size 38 shorts literally just fall off without a belt, and im down to the last belt notch and they are still loose!! WOO HOO!!24
