I row at university, but don't tend to do much over the summers. After losing 11kg so far this summer I've been getting back on the erg (rowing machine) and today pulled within a second for the average split of my PB on a test piece (30 minutes, rate capped at 20). Adjusting for the much lower weight I'm now quite a bit faster than before!22

I was feeling down today. Financial issues, other things, and I had stood in front of the mirror and taken stock of all the loose skin that losing 110 pounds on a 52 year old body has left me with. Then, as I was folding the laundry, I grabbed a pair of soft denim jeans that - for a moment - I couldn't tell if they were my 12 year old daughter's, or mine.
They were hers.
For fun, I slipped them on, and they fit like a glove.
I might have loose ugly skin, but I can slide it into a pair of size 10 jeans, and no one knows it's there but me. And that's what it comes down to. It's worth it.75 -
My undies are looser and clothes in general are looser27

Bought some size Large tops & sweaters (some really nice name-brand stuff, too, some with the tags still on them) and even got a Medium that's a little snug but will fit by spring. I picked up a few skirts that will have to be taken in at the waist. Came home & packed up all my oversized sweaters and winter tops for Goodwill. Woohoo!! Got dressed this morning for church and felt so pretty!
You know what I like best about this? The part where you *know* that Medium will fit by Spring!

My weight hasn't been dropping much.....about 3 pounds in the last 2 months....so I decided to try on my clothes from when I started this journey back in January...and WOW!!! My jeans are HUGE! No way I can wear them now, and THAT is a victory. Even if the scale isn't moving much

1. I finally got a new work vest XL ( I was in a 3x) I keep thinking my smaller one will not fit but it fits perfectly!
2. Bought a size 20 jeans that fit great, I was in size 24.
3. Im finally under 200- ( 198.6 as of this morning) I started at 255. I never tought this would happen but I really just take 1 day at a time. And if I do go over calories the next day i just restart all over ....and its ok. Somedays you want ice cream or pizza and its ok just in moderation and just not to continue out of control, or if I want a treat i just try to fit it in my set calorie goals.41 -
The majority of my life, I've worn an average of size 12 (lowest size 10 and highest size 16) Yesterday, as I hiked my belted/safety pinned/baggy *kitten* pants up, I decided it was time to shop for new work pants. I had to pinch/slap myself as I went back to the rack to get a size 6!!! My first thought - - they are messing with me and these sizes! but they are the same brand as my previous pants. I.HAVE.NEVER.BEEN.THIS.SMALL!!!!43

I can fasten my bra to the tightest clasp, and the cups are waay too big, I'm going to have to buy a new bra again!29

So I decided to go ahead and do an exercise class on my non-lifting days, so I can get to the gym 5 days a week with some variety etc. (I drop off my daughter at school and hit the gym. When the gym daycare opens, I drop off my son and get to it. The only class for that hour was a class called Power Yoga. I thought, yeah it's been a long while, but I could really get into some yoga. Pretty intense for yoga! I was thinking, I don't remember yoga being like this. What did get myself into a whole hour of! But I did it, and hopefully I'll keep getting better at it. The teacher asked if I had done yoga before as I looked like I had and I said yeah about 16 years ago. Pretty awesome. I sweat more in one hour then I did all week! Downward dog sent salt right into my eyes. (insert Arnold Schwarzenegger scream here.) lol It was still pretty relaxing considering, but oh man! I decided I'm not sure how much my muscles will rest on those non-lift days, but we'll see!
TL;DR- I went to and survived and hour of Power Yoga.27 -

I've been invited to a wedding and for the first time EVER I've enjoyed dress shopping!
I remember I used to be pretty nasty to myself inside those fitting rooms and utterly hating everything, leaving super depressed and ALWAYS with a black dress and guess what? It didn't matter if I was a size 4 or a size 24.
Well Yesterday I walked in there super relaxed knowing my hard work was paying off and whatever I have it's because of me being consistent and doing things at my own pace If I didn't find a dress this time it was okay and I shouldn't be nasty to myself and that I should understand I came from a pretty big size, I knew I was making awesome progress and if it turned out I wasn't there yet then I shouldn't be discouraged and completely give up just because this time they didn't have a dress for me and since I've been putting a lot of effort without killing myself I knew next time I went there I would find something.
So as always went for the safety black dresses but as I was heading to the fitting room I saw this stunning royal blue dress with jewels I stood there thinking how beautiful it was then my first thought was: That dress is too pretty I bet they only have a 2, 4, 7 and 9 I made those negative thoughts be quiet inside my head and I headed over there and they had it in 15! I just couldn't believe such beautiful dress would be available in a 15.
The lady helping me out was extremely nice, in a super good mood and beyond helpful! I swear the second I walked out and I looked at myself in the mirror I felt just like a princess! The lady and I agreed that was it! So for the very first time in my entire life I'm not wearing a black dress to a wedding.
Next to my fitting room there was a 30 something year old lady who was a size 4 and I overheard her saying she loved the dress but she HATED her arms. So here I am a size 15 and the old me would've felt extremely selfconcious but I made myself stop again before I thought anything sad and as I lifted my arms I noticed all that weightlifting is paying off in my arms, there's no way they look ANYWHERE near to what they looked like when I started.
I haven't been looking at the scale at all but I can tell in my clothes and how much energy I have lately
Sorry for this massive post but I hope it helps someone out there. Posts on this section had made my days much happier, so I wanna pay it forward.
I've stopped saying things like "I'm nowhere near my goal" or things that make it sound I apologize for my current size when I say things like that it feels I don't give credit to myself for the hard work I put in every single time, I've made the choice to ENJOY every single step and stage of this journey, I know as I keep going I will see changes and I will enjoy those too.64 -
Today my SO told me he needs to take me clothes shopping, my pants were looking baggy in the butt. I just moved to this size about 3 weeks ago. I also ran for the first time in years during my lunch walk!19

I used to be a college professor, then got really sick and had to leave teaching and gained about a hundred pounds and, no matter what I did or didn't do, couldn't lose it at all. It's been like this for 13 yrs. I was BORN to be a college professor, but ended up doing something else for the last several years. I recently lost my job and, while unemployed, coincidentally finally got my health back (another story entirely) and -- it is truly incredible to me -- have lost a little over 80 lbs so far.
Another miracle to me is that about a month ago a friend of mine offered me a one-year visiting professorship, which I jumped at.
So ... the NSV is I'm on campus, preparing for classes. I AM A COLLEGE PROFESSOR AGAIN! AND, I feel great. I look like my old self. I'm just me again. No one knows me there. They just think I'm this thin person who's a professor. They have NO IDEA what I've been through, how sick I've been the last 10+ yrs, how sad I've been ... and how I go around trying to NOT cry tears of joy nearly constantly. I am so happy. I just walk around campus thinking I can't believe this is my life. I can't believe my body just works. And, classes start Monday!
