Getting back to the gym after a year away, and before that, two years away. It was hard because my lungs have declined a bit since I was last there. My legs have swollen up too, which never used to happen when training. I am guessing they are in shock, lol22

Yesterday evening I spotted a blouse I haven't worn in months because it's been just a bit too tight around the upper arms and waist. I thought "what the hell!" and gave it a try... and it fit perfectly!
My spouse had a NSV last night, too - he threw away his usual jeans because they've gotten so loose the button was actually hanging below his belt. He was going to go out like that and I put my foot down.25 -

How about a family-related NSV? My dad was inspired by my success to start counting calories on MFP and exercising (that and a quadruple bypass surgery). Last night he was very upset because he couldn't find a single pair of running shorts to fit, except the pair he wore back in high school track. He's 62.57

Sat & Sun are my rest/recovery days but sometimes we end up going on family excursions so there can be light activity involved.
Well! Not this last weekend! Hubby and I took the kids to check out a new trail at the state park a few miles from home. It's marked on the portable maps as 1.9 miles and "easy." Turns out its 2.9miles instead. The 3yo walked most of it before requesting to be in the stroller. It took us a long time to walk it on account of moving at the pace of a curious, exploring child.
There's a small waterfall off the trail down in a pretty steep ravine. Hubby and I had child care arranged for the evening so we decided to go back to the park and do a trail run/check out the water fall. It was SO FUN. Good quality time/activity followed by delicious food and drinks.
I guess the NSV is that the active lifestyle I've dreamed about living (as a family!) is HERE.46 -
Another swim today -- I didn't have time to do the full mile, unfortunately, but I continue to get faster. Lifting weights makes such a difference.
Took me all day, but I finally have one of my fall course syllabi finished along with a schedule that goes up to the first examination. Feels great to have the energy to get work like this accomplished.20 -
Ok - here is a strange NSV but nonetheless one I am very proud of. I actually finished a box of cereal the NORMAL way. I didn't binge or snack on it, but just had normal portions for breakfast a couple times a week. Not probably a huge deal to most folks, but I can't remember the last time I was able to actually have an entire box consumed the normal way.50

my nightly snack is 2 servings of different cereals (1 of each) mixed together with dark chocolate chips and sometimes dried cranberries...I figured it gave me a snack that takes time to eat and satisfied my sweet tooth for semi low calories (under 200) so not all bad.....but still....this is impressive to me LOL19 -
So, I fell off the wagon hard for about 3 weeks (yay training for work that required 2 hours commuting each day!) but I started the week of right with a 4.91 mile kayaking trip and 2 days at the gym and am feeling awesome!32

Moving week meant lots of goodbye dinners and an unhealthy dose of emotional eating to boot. That coupled with TOM bloating made me get into a: "I'm not gonna lose any more weight and just gonna gain it all back" mindset.
BUT the NSV was discovering that I don't know what falling off the wagon would even look like for me anymore. I ate like crap for a couple of days and felt like it, and wanted to go back to eating "normal" (at or under calories, lots of fruit and veg). It made me realize I couldn't actually go back to my old eating habits without totally overriding my body's signals of "this doesn't feel good".
That's amazing to me. So today I went for a nice long walk and started logging again. Let's do this!!37 -
My husband can pick me up easily now but can actually spin me around now. Start weight 178 current weight 137.4 weight and goal weight 123. No more fake smiling for photos 100% real. Just started using weights.31

I went to my pilates class yesterday and there was a substitute teacher, she taught a very different class and I suddenly realised that while I am definitely one of the biggest people in the class, I was also one of the fittest people, I managed to do virtually all 'extra hard' options of the exercises with relative ease. I was amazed and it was a bit of a revelation. I think I need to get out the mindset of thinking that everyone who is slimmer, is better than me, slimness does not equal fitness.55

I rollerbladed 14 miles the other day just for fun! The gym I go to asked to write about me on their blog as a success story! I've lost 60 lbs but the greatest victory is my new mindset and active lifestyle!29

I'm chatting with a co-worker and in the middle of the conversation she pauses and looks at my waist and says, " wow you really are smaller" I'm looking really forward to being a size 8, I don't want to be any smaller than that. I was getting bored with my old size.I get bored so easily ( my personality) so I'm really excited with all the changes with the weight loss. I think I'm going to be more of an hour glass shape the more I lose around my hips. It's a fun journey to a healthier me.22

Coworker asked if i had been losing weight! i have lost my motivation for the past week but that kicked me back into tracking and keeping on this journey... can't wait to lose more! only lost 25 pounds out of the 130 total i started with to lose. loooong way to go23

I bought a belt less than a month ago, started in hole 1 and now I'm at the last one (5). I'm not entirely sure how that happened, but I'm happy/annoyed at the same time. Time to invest in a hole punch.17

Just to start the argument again, hammer and nail set works really well and is cheaper9 -
My nefarious coworker brought lemon tarts with fruit topping to work last week. Didn't eat any. Yesterday she got cupcakes and brought them right into my office to make sure I got one. Had a yogurt instead.
In all honesty she is a lovely (non-nefarious) person but the treats she brings in are really hard to pass up come 3 o'clock!21 -

I use a drill and bit on mine. It works good on leather.6 -

There is always someone like that in the workplace. Good on you. Sometimes when they bring it to me directly I just graciously accept since they made such an effort. Then as soon as they are gone I either regift it or trash it somewhere away from my desk.12 -
I finally had time to clean out my closet and got rid of 5 garbage bags shoved completely full of clothes. Then got to go on an epic shopping adventure to replace my wardrobe ahead of starting my new job in September. We had a sales lady at the store helping us and she said she'd pull some stuff for me, she pulled xs shirts and size 4 pants and skirts. They all fit! The clothes I got rid of ranged from 8-16.
I also started planning our vacation to Moab in August. So excited for a really active vacation full of morning hikes and to get to try kayaking for the first time! So different from a vacation I would have planned even 2 years ago!29 -
My most recent and BEST NSV I've ever had happened yesterday. I inspired my brother to try and lose weight as well! He is in the same place I was at his age where he has pretty much accepted the fact that he was going to be big for the rest of his life. I haven't been pushing him or telling him anything in regards to try and lose weigh because I know how it feels when someone else tries to change you and your not ready. I've been on this journey 4 months and yesterday he asked to start his own journey. I've never thought I would be the inspiration for someone to lose weight.37

Your way sounds much more polite. My way was yelling "Nope! Nope! Nope!" until she took the cupcake away.14 -
Was scrolling through my instagram and found this old flexing pic from when I started my weightloss journey one year ago. Decided to recreate it & realized I look jacked!
It was a wonderful NSV because I am currently at 94 lbs lost and have only been thinking about getting to 100 lately. It's like I had tunnel vision and needed to stop and appreciate how far I've come.73 -
This is a little bit of a scale victory too, apologies - today was legs day again and I was doing a warm up set with 60 lbs and thinking it felt as easy as bodyweight squats used to - and I suddenly realized it IS as easy as bodyweight squats used to be, because I weigh more than 60 lbs less now! Instead of carrying all that on my body all the time I'm picking it up and exercising with it!36

My boyfriend has been telling me how great my butt is looking for like a month now, but I just didn't see it. I always zero in on my trouble spots when I look at it in the mirror. But today I totally saw it! It really is starting to look pretty good, he's not just being nice!23

Today my company did a team-building afternoon of bowling. Not only was I able to bowl without tweaking my back (a big victory for me)... but the wight of the ball was equal to the weight I've lost in my first month on this journey. It felt so amazing to lift that heavy ball and throw it down the lane over and over again, thinking "this is so much that I will never have to carry around anymore".35

Way to go!! I have a hard time with freely offered treats like this!
This reminds me, (this isn't really NSV but I promise it's related on some level) my mom has been eating healthfully for as long as I can remember but especially as she's gotten older she can feel the difference if she eats something processed. Usually her feeling all icky isn't worth the "treat"
Cue a Friday am work meeting where donuts were provided. When she politely refused (more b/c she didn't want to feel ill than because she doesn't like them) the coworker offering them up to her became angry My mom said her coworker was all offended and burst out "Oh COME ON Really!? You're not going have a single donut!?" My mom handled it well by smiling and politely insisting "No thanks, I appreciate the offer but I would like to pass."
Thanks to lots of time on this thread and others I was able to reassure her that, although hurtful and aggravating, her experience is not isolated. So thanks MFP community! Your shared experiences really helped out my mom!28 -
This morning when my alarm went off at quarter past 4 I got up, fumbled around, then went back to bed....(I was REALLY tired- or so I thought) I laid in bed for 10 minutes and all I could think was "you really should just get up and go for a walk, an extra hour of sleep isn't going to make much difference, the hour of walking will make you more energetic" so I did, and I felt so much better for it. Then I went and rode one of my mares, Shakaya, fed all of the horses and still had time to groundwork Sass #winning28
