1 - yesterday at dinner I got full before I cleared the plate, and had to adjust my diary to account for what wasn't eaten. In my old life (pre-open-heart surgery), I would have eaten everything anyway, and been miserable afterwards.
2 - I apparently have a pulmonary embolism, and I'm still alive to tell about it...
Awesome Those things are always things to notice and be proud of2 -
After three months of slacking and making excuses I've stayed under my calories and have been moving a lot more over the past five days. Yesterday we went to have dinner with my husband's family. Usually when we have a family dinner or party all bets are off and I undo my hard work in one day. Yesterday I was very conscious of what I ate and stayed under my calories! My husband kept trying to feed me all day (he's a chef) and I kept ducking and dodging and saying no thank you. In the evening I was trying to find a way to not exercise, but told myself to just do it and felt great after!18

Last night, I went through my closet for the second time in two months and gathered yet another pile of clothes to donate because they are too big on me. Also, today I am comfortably wearing a pair of work pants I couldn't even squeeze into back in March. So I am feeling pretty good today! :-)20

Other people have talked about seeing or others seeing their shoulder bone (scapula). Last night I was laying in bed on my side. I had my arm wrapped around the front of me with my hand on the opposite shoulder. I didn't notice at first but I was rubbing the top of the bone near the shoulder. For some reason I started to tap my shoulder. I could easily feel my bone, there wasn't much meat (okay fat) over the bone. It hit me, Ohhhh THAT is what the others are talking about.13

I’m noticing the lower my weight gets the quicker clothes get too big. The first 25 pounds or so, things got looser but I could still get away with most everything. I went through a 3 week stall recently and I swear I lost inches during that time and now I’m down a couple more pounds and things are moving again in the too-big clothing dept! Started in a tight-ish size 12/med-lg, and now my size 8 jeans are getting loose. Back in January, I didn’t even dare think I’d ever fit comfortably in an 8, much less shrink out of them.17

I lost 1 1/2 inches off my waist!

I was feeling like I wasn't seeing any difference in the mirror. Took measurements and progress pics and yep, even from 12 pounds ago, the difference is clear.
I'm nearly 20 pounds down now, and wish I had taken pictures the day I started, but I'm still glad I took them at all when I was 8 pounds down. It's so encouraging!11 -
As I booked my ticket home in January (for July to New Zealand), I felt nervous about travelling so far feeling so uncomfortable. I was the heaviest I had ever been (80.9kgs/178 pounds) and was feeling disappointed as I have an enlarged aortic root (of my heart) and sadly, carrying extra weight is a HUGE no-no! But I just couldn’t kick my junk food/drinking in the week habit and losing weight felt too hard. Then my sister and son told me about MFP in April. I had seen it in 2016 but did nothing about it. But something clicked this time and slowly my weight began to came off. I wanted to be around 75kgs before the flight, I would have been chuffed with that, but this morning I stood on the scales and I was 72.3kgs/159 pounds (that’s almost a 20
pound loss!!!). I tried on everything in my waredrobe yesterday and everything fits (apart from a ridiculous small pair of satin trouser). I even look okay in my swim suit! New Zealand and Fiji, here I come in two sleeps!!! 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴45 -
I finally have hips again. I went to work with no suspenders and no pant drop.17

Bought new bras today! 34D down from tight 38DDD. Clothes look much better.
Had my yearly health assessment check today. 10 pounds down from 15 months ago.23 -
Just got back form vacation. While I did go a little crazy on how much food I ate, there were a few times I made the lower calorie decision, or tried to burn up a few of the calories I consumed. At the airport Starbucks, I was quite tempted to order a Frappuccino, which clocked me in at 450 calories. Instead I found myself ordering a chai latte on ice, which I think was close to 150. I did eat quite a bit more food then I usually do. Mostly because I am working on the ability to tell 85 year old grandparents "No thanks, I've had enough" when they've prepared a us lovely meal. I come of the upbringing that when old people cook you food, you eat it. No worries. I simply made sure I got in plenty of walking and swimming while I was there. My average daily step count was around 12000, (where at home it's 6000 or less) and I made sure to hit the swimming pool daily. Instead of bobbing on a fun noodle I would tread or swim for about an hour daily. To be honest, I'm not sure what my intake and burn was over the week, but my clothes still fit the same. But I had a good time, and stayed active when it was tempting to sit inside where the air conditioning was. So I think I did pretty well.27

Last time I went on my bike I was 20lbs heavier and not as fit. I enjoyed it so much more I lost track of time and went completely off route. Found a nice little forest area with some bike trails I didn't know about. Did roughly 20 miles and felt I could have done 10 more.

...err, MFP? That particular kitten is a perfectly good British term for a ditch and/or wall, often used to mark boundaries in the middle ages. In Scotland the word is used extensively to refer to walls, particularly drystane ones. Just so you know.
And in the meantime, I am having all sorts of mildly traumatic mental images!
It's "dike," right? With a "y."3 -

Super stressful day - car died over the weekend and we really need a new car before the loaner goes back, so spent the day scrambling around making arrangements, fixing a friend's extra car to borrow and shopping for a new one. No time to go running and I miss it, plus my husband is stressed at work, we haven't been able to get to the grocery since we got home from vacation so there's no healthy food in the fridge, and he asked for five guys. So I ate five guys too.
The NSV is then I whipped out some bodyweight squats, then got on my stationary bike and cranked out thirty hard minutes and got back under my calories for the day, as well as lowering my blood glucose to normal levels within an hour after eating. Ha, take that, stress eating! It's nice to know that even when the plan falls apart a little, I can make corrections and get back on track.26 -
I've noticed that when I run now, I have a slight spring to my gait and my husband said I look like an athlete : )21

Last year I joked with my lovely husband that I would tell everyone I met that I was "overweight" on the BMI scale.... was honestly ridiculously excited to get there for the first time as an adult. We said it'd be so funny for him to get in on it too..
So a couple of weeks ago ...I MADE IT!(Though I've managed to reel it in & not shout about it from the rooftops)
Last weekend we were out shopping for a few clothes & at the entrance of every shop he said loudly "Come on, let's get your overweight *kitten* in there & see if we can find something to fit it...*smacks my backside*"
Everyone around must've thought he was a horrible human being but oh my gosh....he is super proud & my biiiiggest cheerleader. Him remembering our silly conversation is exactly why I love him hardest of all humans haha!
Out of all the wonderful NSVs I've enjoyed this one has to be my favourite so far!(Even if it stems from a technical SV!!)

10 mile tandem bike ride as part of a work thing yesterday, in 30 degree heat. Didn't get out of breath. Didn't have to ask to slow down.20

It is hot today! Ice cream was offered to me at work - I took it, thanked them, and put it in the freezer (knowing that I won't remember it being there when I come back from holidays...). I like ice cream though...10

Had a telephone conversation with someone we do business with who told me I am an inspiration and he is now making an effort to get back to the gym and lose weight because he has seen such good changes in me, not just the weight loss but the increase in confidence he has seen.18
