I have been on a two month calorie counting hiatus. Summer is usually a busy time for me (especially July this year), and honestly I was getting sick of counting. So I've just been weighing frequently, and trying to listen to my hunger & fullness cues, and still working out when I can. I had already decided I would pick it pack up August 1st like, a month ago. I went ahead and started counting a week early. And weighing what food I can. After the first day (2000+cal. splurge day ) I've even been holding myself to below maintenance so far. August 1st is my get serious date though. I feel like it's an accomplishment in itself that I set a "back to it" date at all!

I can now reach around to my back and unhook my bra! (Back fat is going away!) Used to have to struggle to get my arms out of the straps and then tug the bra around until I could reach the hooks! Even bought some front-hook bras because of this. (Twice -failed rotator cuff surgery was part of the problem, but the back fat was the biggest part. Small victory for me.18

Yesterday I noticed a Marks and Spencer Sale online and had a browse. They had a dress I quite liked and it was reduced by 60%. Checking it out I was peeved that they only had it in a 14 (UK). I thought to myself well, I am a 16 now so maybe at £15 this is worth a punt as an aspirational dress. Ordered it thinking it would be handy if I coud fit comfortably in it for my winter sun holiday. This is quite a big deal for me as, for the last 20 years I have been unable to buy dresses due to the mismatch in size between top half and bottom half Today it arrived - and it fit! All the way up, no tugging on the zip - nothing! I feel it accentuates my womanly curves - aka big tummy - a little too much but another 6lbs or so will see me both in my normal bmi and comfortable in this dress. 10 lbs should see me happily wearning my posh red party dress this Christmas (the dragon dress!) Next summer size 12??25

That's the best feeling!!! I have a few things that fit but accentuate the wrong things too. I figure I'll get there eventually!4 -

I'd say that's a huge victory!!4 -

Also, I picked up my volunteer outfit for the European track and field championships, and they assigned me a form-fitted women's t-shirt (I hate hate hate them ... or so I thought). It's in XL, but it fits like it's supposed to, and for the first time ever, I do not look like I'm wearing a sausage casing.
This is a goal! Race shirts are always small! And what a fun volunteer gig too!4 -
A very strange NSV worth sharing. I wear size 2- 4 dresses however because of my big hips, I can only wear flare dresses in 2/4 since they won't fit my bottom. It’s been a while but last time i tried a form fitting dress with no stretchy fabric that could comfortable go pass my hips and it was in a size 8. Because of my big bottom I avoid form fitting dress with no stretch. I stopped by Nordstrom rack, 25% off clearance sale is going on, I tried a size 4 petite dress with no stretchy fabric. I knew it won’t fit but I was just curious. The last time I attempted to wear a normal size 6 dress it won’t even go pass my hips. Well today some how, i was able to get a Size 4 petite dress to go pass my hips, granted it was tight. I still have 2-3 inches to lose from the hips for a comfortable fit. So yeah my NSV I was able to a get a non-stretchy size 4 petite dress to go pass my hips without it being stuck. I’m really surprise since I’m still in a weight loss stall since April.22

I can do Jumping jacks. I used to have to do the modified version.
I can sprint up the stairs of my apartment building without getting out of breath.
All my old tunics and leggings are getting baggy.
I’m a lot more flexible.24 -
I was suffering from chronic pain/Fibromyalgia, I decided that my body couldn't handle the extra weight and that is why it hurt. It was a catch 22, I couldn't exercise because I hurt and I hurt because I couldn't exercise. I started to lose the weight by watching calories.and felt better. Although I do have some pain, today the doctor agreed that I can discontinue the "pain" meds for three months and see how I feel.
I want to lose a few more pounds before I start strength training again but I am moving and the pounds are coming off.35 -

Terrific nsv! Well done2 -
Meant to post this yesterday but never mind.
30 years ago yesterday, I met my husband for the first time (thought that he was completely mad but that's by-the-by). I was still a teenager at that point.
I am a lot smaller now than I was then.
I am smaller than I was as a teenager.
That makes me a little bit happy, and a little bit sad.
Happy because I am so much healthier now than I probably ever have been (including as a teenager and as a child).
Sad because I hated my size as a child/teenager but was pretty well clueless as to what to do about it.
But the happy bit outweighs the sad bit as I did eventually get off my backside and do something about it, before it was too late.
I continue to do something about it, and will continue to "do something about it" for the rest of my time in the world because I will always strive to improve my health and fitness34 -

This has always been how I use it. I fill everything for the day in the morning (so I can use the swipe to add feature). This is easy as I generally have the same pre-gym, breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks everyday. Then I just add dinner when I know what it's going to be.
Great knowing ahead of time that i'll have spare calories for a snack after dinner!9 -
The smallest notch on my belt. 6 months ago I couldn't wear it on the largest.
I am now light enough to safely ride my kid's scooters and their power wheels dune buggy (hehehe).
I need new lounge pants, sure elastic waist yoga and PJ pants still fit okay, but now when my toddler clings he pants me.16 -

So I was a little bit frustrated this morning. I only wiegh in once a week and this week I have been really good about tracking. On most days I eat at my calirue level, and then I exercise every day so I every day this week I have had anywhere from 200 to 800 calories left over. So I was expecting to go down at least half a pound. But no, I went up 6! What is that? I will be good today and wiegh in tomorrow morning and see what that says. Sometimes Saturday is a better number than Friday anyways so I take that.
Being summer, it is really hot. Where I am it is in the low 90s and the humidity is generally above 80%. Normally I walk to school (I teach) everyday (>2.5 miles) but because it has been so hot I haven't done that or my morning hikes that I do 3 or sometimes 4 mornings a week. It would be so easy to give up and wait until it is not quite as hot (down to 85) to do my exercise but I know if I quit it will be difficult to pick back up. So I am trying to be creative about getting my exercise in.
The other frustrating thing about the weigh in is that I will see my family at Christmas for the first time in a year (or year and a half for some of them) and I really want to surprise them. Especially my mom. I am sure some of you can relate, she is one of those mom's who makes comments about how I should lose weight because I don't want to grow up like her. My thought when she says this is always, "Set me an example, Mom!!" I am an adult but I think I could still benefit from her setting an example like that. So instead I am hoping it will be the reverse and she can learn from me. She talks a lot and tries things, but never really goes through with it.
Anyways, in light of this morning, I need to keep on keeping on.
PS - I just realized I never put an actual NSV...
1) I am shrinking out of some of my clothes
2) I can see definition in my arms and face and a little around my collar bones
3) I am learning not to eat bread (my kryptonite) whenever I have a craving or just want to eat something. Instead I try to drink water or tea or eat fruit.
4) I really love hiking and can't wait to get back to it when the weather cools off a bit. I mention this because I had never hiked until this past year and I really enjoy it. The city I live in has mountains (some would say hills) all over the place so I look forward to trying all of them eventually.15 -
I went on a 5-day hike in Lapland, with full gear in my backpack, and survived. The pack weighed 50lbs when I left home, and although I literally ate some of the weight during the trip, I still made it with that extra weight and carried it up several fells/hills of varying heights, and very difficult terrain - by difficult, I mean the kind that requires all four limbs to be able to even move forward. I came home yesterday morning, and still went SUP boarding last night as planned. The paddling was really good movement to loosen up my back and shoulders from carrying the pack and hiking, and I feel a lot better now.
Also, I wiggled out of my denim shorts without undoing the zip or the button. I can vividly recall these shorts being uncomfortably tight.24 -

Well everybody, I've had my first unexpected NSV and it took me a few days to realize it:) For my job, I spend part of my time on a boat. It is a rigid hull inflatable and to get on it from shore it is really high and I have to jump, grab onto a post and pull myself up. Last year it was quite an ordeal and I must have looked ridiculous trying to get myself up. At times my co-workers had to help me. All this time I figured it was because of my short legs. Well, I was on the boat for the last week, got off and on many times and every time, I could just pop myself up there. My co-workers even mentioned what a huge difference there was. 25lbs makes a HUGE difference. Long way to go, but slowly but surely.........

Went out this morning and bought my first size 8 dress (down from a 26 plus-size). I don't hate getting dressed up now!

Read your NSV, but couldn't read the small print above your profile picture. So I enlarged the photo - then laughed out loud.
"You don't get the *kitten* you want by sitting on it."
A nugget of truth wrapped with a chuckle. Very true - and funny!
I did the exact same! (And then sent a friend request)

Went camping last weekend. Started setting up the cots. It's usually a struggle to get the second end bar in place because you have to stretch the fabric while rotating the bar. Sometimes I use a lever - sometimes it's a two person operation - sometimes there is swearing.
This time I pulled the bar tight and rotated my wrists - the bar popped into place - easy as pie! All that gym work pays off in unexpected ways.16 -
@JulieSHelms you look beautiful! Well done:)2

So true - which is why I was amazed when the bar popped in on the first try! Thanks for the chuckle!
