Getting through Xmas not looking like a whale - and rejoining MFP....both good recent victories for me :-)26

I walked two miles up hill lol I will continue to do it but today was my first time and I made it!

Logged all week this week! With fitbit adjusting for calories I've only gone over once, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.
Anyone else who's lost a lot of weight get stuck at like 30 lbs to go?? I've been logging and exercising but just can't seem to keep myself motivated...13 -
Today marks 5 year of contineus logging. It does not say so on my profile as this profile is new here. Over the years I have used different logging tools but returned to MFP as, despite its many flaws, it works best for the way I like to work32

On new years eve I went climbing for the first time in probably about 9 months (it tends to be something we do with a certain group of friends) and not only was my climbing easier (not on my hands though) but afterwards we went up to the gym area and messed around on that for a bit. I was able to do a couple of pull ups, some leg lifts and a couple of (all be it fairly shallow) triceps dips. None of which I was able to do last time we went.
Turns out that when you have less mass to move, it's easier to move. Who knew.28 -

I tried C25K about 1.5 years ago and gave up after a couple weeks. It seemed so hard. I lost ~40lbs with a healthy diet and started running 3 months ago. BOOM, I ran 12km straight last weekend. I am now 48lbs down and absolutely amazed at how much easier it is to run with less mass to move.36 -
oh and I find that now I am losing weight to run, not running to lose weight! A big difference in my books

This week my average daily steps was 10070 steps /day.
I started logging in September and in October I averaged 3000 steps per day.32 -
This morning while making my oatmeal, I realized that quite a few of the Lindt Lindor chocolate truffles I bought for Christmas/New Years treats (a bag of mixed flavors, and a bag of the seasonal peppermint cookie ones), and the last bit of a bag of old-school Taco Doritos (one of my kryptonite foods) that I bought before that, are still hanging out in my kitchen.
The Doritos have been spread out in fairly sensible portions (mostly 1oz; I think 2oz one time), and - after the somewhat more indulgent holiday-celebration-fest - the truffles are coming out of the bag one or two at a time when I have ample calories left, and sensible nutrition already checked off.
Maybe (after 3+ years maintenance), normal eating is becoming more normal.40 -
When I walk around the office at work to stretch my legs I walk past 2 vending machines. One with soda and iced coffee. The other has candy bars and chips. I have not stopped once in over 3 months to get a snack. They don't even tempt me a little bit these days.34

I have a small folding stool in my closet to reach the upper shelves, and to occasionally sit on when putting on socks & shoes. I don't use it much. This morning I pulled it out to sit on and, lo and behold, my derriere fit between the bars! At my highest weight, no way could I wedge my fat *kitten* between those bars.30

Being honest. With the choices I make. Making food swaps. 🙄🤗15

I know exactly what you mean. I've had to go cold turkey from my meds. As their not compatable with my heart meds. I've 3 heart procedures this last year.... which caused me anxiety. In the first place.9 -
Despite not losing any weight since October, I've lost 2 cm from my waist. Small steps, but in the right direction31

I Got back on the workout wagon yesterday for the first time since my 2nd baby was born.
This time round I have my 1st baby (now a 40lb 3-year old) keeping me going!
And I even noticed an improvement today compared with yesterday.
Onwards and upwards!19 -
Easily closing my seat belt on a flight in November!! I began losing weight last January after I was unable to do so, and then had to tuck the belt under my sweater and pretend it was closed. I was in a total panic because of it! I kept thinking OMGGGGG a little bit of turbulence could kill me. The shaming part was the attendant sitting across from me avoiding eye contact trying to pretend she didn't know what was going on. That was my wake up call. I hadn't been on a flight since then and was dreading it!!! But I can't tell you how happy I am now just remembering .... it's my #NSVgoto whenever I feel like slacking, lololo40

back at it. 1st bike ride yesterday since August first when I fell and broke my ankle. 10 plus miles yesterday. Loving the 50 degree weather we are having in Iowa this week. Today I packed up the Christmas tree and decorations. Rode 6 miles climbed the Cordova tower (over 100 feet tall) and walked around Pella then walked for an hour to see the eagles below the Red Rock dam. Good day.

@LindaGilpin59 - I love watching eagles! Jealous! Your day sounds perfect.2

I was just about to write about Park Run too! It's such a great scheme, I find people really supportive. 18 months ago I could barely jog for a minute, got a personal best time today (still not speedy but like they say, you're only racing yourself).15 -
I have always hated clothes shopping because I always underestimated my size and would get upset. I’ve been wearing my old clothes since I started losing weight. That was 80lbs ago. My best friend made the comment this past week that it was probably time to revamp my wardrobe and while I was terrified to go, I agreed. I’ve been wearing size 2X or 3X this whole time and she talked me into trying on an XL today. Y’all... it fit! I thought the first shirt was a freak accident, then the same with the second. On the third that I tried on, I lost it. I literally cried in the fitting room. 😭 Those were the happiest tears of my life! I haven’t been not shopping in the plus sized section since 2008.75

I got to see a good friend I haven’t seen since I lost weight. He texted my husband about how good I look! He said it wasn’t just the weight loss, but that I looked fit and radiant. Radiant!32

I’m so happy for you! I remember a fitting room moment when the sales lady asked me why I was trying on pants that were too big AND the wrong type of fit (curvy). That’s when I realized I had no clue what my new body looked like. It takes time. I’m glad you have a supportive friend!

I squatted 50 pounds 5 reps times 5 sets! Breaking parallel with my hips going lower than my knees.29

I have SO MANY. And as I get closer to my goal weight it is important to focus on these more. I'm just amazed that with only 25lb loss I have gained so much more!!
1. I no longer avoid mirrors and cameras. This was a habit that I didn't even know I had started! But when the weight started coming off I was suddenly wanting to get in family pictures again and I was like...oh, I've been avoiding this without even realizing it!
2. I love clothes shopping now. I'm not completely to goal, but it is actually fun to walk into a dressing room and put on clothes. I am at a size I have never been in my adult life (or teenage for that matter) and it feels incredible!
3. I look forward to things like playing outside, park, soccer, etc. that before I would have just mildly enjoyed or been slightly worn out by.
4. I have grown to love the ache after a good workout - and the subsequent muscles that are starting to show!!
5. I am a relearning my body, like I can't sleep the same or sit the same because I have a little less padding, it's hilarious! I keep wanting to like turn to people and go - isn't this seat hard!?
6. I speak more confidently, I hate that I didn't feel as comfortable in my own skin before and I am so grateful I am taking better care of myself now and feel confident enough to poke fun at myself or share healthy eating tips or whatever
There are more but those one came to mind today 🤗24 -

I remember entering the mall one day and my eyes suddenly filled with tears. I realized that I could shop for clothes in any store I wanted, not just the plus sized ones. I'm so happy for you22
