Down almost 20 lbs to ~175. Over the past 5 lbs I realize I have gone from convex to concave around my middle. Yes if you look very carefully.... Oh my...I have a waist!! It’s just a little dimple of a waist but it’s still super exciting.21

Today I am able to fit into multiple pieces of clothing I couldn't wear for the last few years. Also yesterday I ran into an old colleague, and she said I look the best she's ever seen. 😄15

1) Last week we went on holiday to the Isle of Wight. We went last year and I wanted to cycle around the island - my DH even got me a small folding bike that would go in the back of the car.
But the bike and I didn't really get along too well and I only cycled about 10 miles on it before I gave it up as a bad job.
This year, I acquired a tow bar cycle rack and we took MY bike to the island.
The week was pretty disastrous as it rained. A lot.
Midweek it dried up a little, so set the alarm for 5am and got up ready to go. DH, bless him, also got up to see me off.
Three quarters of a mile later, a massive puncture. Now, I cheat a little as I put that stuff in my tyres that is supposed to seal small punctures (I struggle to change tyres on my bike because I have arthritis in my hands (as well as everywhere else) so it can be very difficult for me; but I digress) but this one just flattened the tyre within seconds. Walked back to where we were staying and assumed that was it, no round island ride for me that day.
BUT my DH hadn't gone back to bed so he helped me to put a new tube and tyre on. At 5.30am - gotta love the man
And off I went again. All 70-ish miles around the island. I had been told that the worst hills were in the south and west of the island but whoever said that was lying. It was up, then down, then up, then down, for all 70 miles.
It was great, a wonderful, challenging ride. Having done that, I know that I am capable of a 100-mile ride, and I am capable of doing the coast-to-coast (loosely planned for later in the year).
Can't wait to do both!
But in the meantime, I am planning a to cycle the 30 miles to my mum's house tomorrow. Just because I can
2) I have managed to drag myself out of bed four out of five mornings so far this week to go to the gym.
Might not sound too impressive but it's a big thing for me as the type of arthritis I have is inflammatory which leaves me extremely fatigued virtually all of the time. So to get up before 5am on four occasions this week is a major victory. 5am is the only time I like going to the gym as otherwise it gets far too busy for my liking - not keen on having to wait around to use the equipment, especially when half of the other gym users can't be bothered to wipe down the kit after they've used it (shudders).

In a desperate attempt to not have to go swim suit shopping with all 3 kids (5&under) I tried on a suit top I bought 2 yrs and 20lbs lighter ago.
It fits
I wore it this afternoon
I felt AMAZING29 -
Tears are welling up in my eyes as I post this(literally)...I found a pair of jeans I used to have to SQUEEZE into and they were so tight, I used to have to unbutton them after eating, this is what size I was this time last year or so (actually around 2017 or so). The stretch in these size 20w's as I examined them today is/was amazing. To think that I was thrilled to be out of squeezing into 22w's and to finally be getting into these size 20w (I remember it now after seeing these jeans like it was yesterday)...I remember how much JOY I felt about being able to fit them then and now I have that same JOY being a size 8. To SEE the HUGE difference in the size 8's I wear today (these are my go to jeans and I love them and they are getting a bit roomy for me, but they're boyfriend jeans AND I wear belts now, so--BOOM!
My sons said Mommy, I remember when you were that size, you were beautiful then, but you're super beautiful and skinny now and they HUGGED and KISSED me a lot! Side note: my sons, husband, daughters and the majority of all of my family are either skinny or slim and trim. FOR YEARS, I was the ONLY obese/overweight one in my entire family and let me tell you...it didn't feel good at all. NONE of my family members made me feel bad or ever said anything ugly to me about my size in those days...I guess they really didn't have to, because I myself made myself feel so bad during those day. I'M SO SUPER ULTRA MEGA GLAD THEY ARE OVER (the days of me being out-of control in so MANY areas in entire life--I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE WAY I WAS (stubborn, obese, overweight and just WHACK, I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE WAY I USED TO EAT/DRINK AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...THE WAY I USED TO THINK (ABOUT MYSELF AND EVERYTHING). Thank you Heavenly Father for giving me an entire new life and lifestyle and using ME to do it. YAY!!!!
Seriously, I am so, ummmmm, GRATEFUL and humbled and HAPPY to have found these (while helping my son's declutter their closets).
WOW!

Bought some running leggings on clearance without trying them on. I was a little worried they wouldn’t fit (I’m 2lbs up and generally feeling “blah”). Not only did they fit just fine, they have a little gap in the back of the waistband! And they aren’t black! Okay, very light gray but still...my behind is visible in some tight pants that aren’t black or navy and I’m in public.14

I'm a slow runner. Today I completed my longest treadmill run both time and distance. 9 miles in 2:03. (Trail running is much easier for me). Two years ago I started running. 18 months ago I completed my first 5k, 6 months ago I completed my first 10k. In 6 months I will run my first half marathon. I am 60 years old and 60 pounds lighter than 3 years ago. Life gets better every day.34

Hiking 10-14 miles a day on a 6 day hillwalking vacation in Scotland, along the Rob Roy Way. Glorious weather and views every single day. I think the Scots are fooling us by claiming poor weather! I've visited twice in the latter half of June now and have had 1 day of poor visibility each time, and almost no rain. No bugs, cool temps, and low humidity (compared to where I live). Such a wonderful place!16

Went with my mom to a not at all diabetic friendly restaurant (only one meal available: heavily battered catfish, with either hush puppies or bread, and either onion rings, baked potato, or fries, plus sugary pickled tomato relish) and managed not to have a complete meltdown. Had a piece of catfish, one hush puppy, one onion ring off my mom’s plate, and talked the kitchen into fixing me a “side salad” out of hamburger toppings prepped for tomorrow’s special. This really is the least diet friendly place, they had several dressings (they sometimes have salads, just not on Saturday nights) - all mayo based - so I used the lemon that came with my tea. I’m learning. I go to these places to spend time with my mom, it’s not the end of the world if I have to wait a few hours for a more suitable meal.
I went home later and had some food more suitable to my needs. Also, my blood glucose stayed within range. But the real victory is letting it go instead of getting all upset that my mom “is trying to sabotage” my health. Truth be told, maybe she should know that diabetics don’t need that kind of food, but she also enjoys seeing her friends there and enjoys having them meet her daughter. And that’s pretty groovy.31 -

Now everyone that reads this is going to try to fold their hands behind their back. I never even thought about something like that. Full disclosure, I can't do it.11 -

Just 9 pounds down but I’m starting to feel like myself again, and I don’t have so much trouble finding something to wear. This is me on my way back down after putting on 40 pounds in two years.14

We had a volunteer appreciation picnic last week at my workplace (I'm staff, not a volunteer. Some of the volunteers I see every week, but others I only see occasionally.). A couple of people made comments like "Oh Hi, I didn't recognize you!" and I immediately assumed it was because I was wearing a sun hat. In retrospect, they were probably trying to politely comment on my weight loss. I'm kinda glad I was "dumb" about their comments, because it's not something I really want to talk about. But it's nice that the hard work shows. I just don't notice it myself on a day to day basis.14

During a much overdue cleaning of my closet I found a shirt buried I hadn't worn in probably 2+ years. It used to be one of my favorite casual summer shirts (light grey short sleeve button-down) so I was curious how it would fit: I could barely get it on over my arms & shoulders or button it across my chest, so much so that my wife had to help me take it off. Could easily button at the waist. Guess my lifting efforts haven't been for nothing.15

Well half my cloths don't fit well anymore so I went and bought a few new outfits, and I'm down to medium and small sizes. I've always been a size LG, XL, or even XXL some pics for ref .

I just noticed that my shirt is getting loose on me. This is the 3XL shirt I bought about four months ago that was too tight at the time, a goal marker of sorts. Time to buy a 2XL one I guess?24

I had a few this weekend
1. I used to be pretty much addicted to Dots - the candy. If I bought a box, i'd eat the whole thing and feel like I couldn't stop. One time, I even made it through 2 boxes in one night. So I have cut them out completely since February (except one box my mom gave me on Easter). Friday night I decided to really test my progress, and bought a box knowing full well I might eat all of them. But instead I ate about 2 servings, and put the box away. Super proud of myself for that one.
2. My boyfriend has said a couple times along the way he can tell i'm losing weight, but this weekend, twice - in two different outfits, he was almost shocked. He even asked when I got so skinny I am definitely no where near skinny, but we all know it's nice when people finally start really noticing. It's been 18 weeks and -25 lbs of no one being able to tell, so it was nice to know it's finally starting to show.
3. I wore my swim suit in front of my boyfriend's entire family, and felt good about it.25
