well done, congrats. I would not want to ever walk that distance much less run a race that far.

I've been looking at before and after photos. I didn't take an official "Before" picture, because I didn't know if I would stick with this. But I've looked at old pictures and comparing them to new ones...man I look awesome and I realize it!

I bought a couple of pairs of old Navy jeans today. I have been a size 12 since highschool, but today I was very solidly a size 10. I know sizes have changed a bit in the 10 years I've been out of highschool, but I'm still very excited.
Also, I got one of the pairs for $1.97. That's a NSV in itself!!

Not a nurse, but I wear scrubs for work. My XLs have been too baggy for weeks. The Ls I picked up today fit! My butt hasnt fit into an L in YEARS, and not a camel toe in sight!

8 months ago I ran for the first time in my 50 years. I made it 30 seconds before I had to call it quits. Today I ran 5 miles in 60 minutes without stopping/walking. I never would have believed it back when I started. I run slow...but this tortoise is plenty happy with the progress!

1) I've worn holes in my trousers. I haven't done this for a couple of years now, so I was a bit annoyed about it. No, that's not true. I was really annoyed about it. Until I realised that the holes haven't come from my legs rubbing together (as they don't anymore) but that the holes are where my legs are moving against the saddle of my bicycle.

2) Talking of cycling, I went down my short steep hill on Saturday, rather fast. Actually, very fast. As I do. Anyway, cycling along a flat, straight bit of road at the bottom of the hill when a vehicle pulled alongside me with his window down. This annoys me as motorists never have anything good to say to cyclists (in my experience anyway) so I'm bristling a bit, thinking that he's about to have a go at me for even daring to go on the roads on a bike.

I look at him and he's laughing at me. Then he says, "Do you realise that you were going at about 45 mph along there?". My first thought was, no, I was actually doing 46.4 mph. My second thought was, and you were exceeding the speed limit in order to clock my speed. I just smiled and said "Well, I'd better slow down in future then!"

I can just imagine his conversations down the pub, later on, "I clocked this crazy old woman on a bike earlier - she was doing 45 mph!!!!"



3) My son and I did our 9th ParkRun on Saturday. Not a great time as we were both struggling a bit but we finished. One more run until he qualifies for his 10-run shirt.

I also did the Junior ParkRun (2k) with my four year old on Sunday, her sixth, so only 5 to go until she gets her half-marathon wristband. My daughter absolutely loves doing the ParkRuns and wanted to join in the Saturday 5k one with us. I had to put her off as I didn't think she'd be able to finish it in a sensible time. I have no doubt that she could have completed it but it would have taken her the best part of two hours as she'd walk most of the way.

I did the swim leg of a half Ironman relay this weekend. My NSV isn't so much the V I was hoping for. It was an off day/ bad race for me, but I did not give up and actually finished (victory #1) after a horrible start and a bunch of stuff going wrong (goggles issue/ couldn't see, couldn't catch my breath, semi-panic). Victory #2 was that there was a huge hill to run up at the end. I have been advised not to run due to my OA, and my teammates were expecting me to walk, but I felt like I had to at least finish strong so I ran up the hill to the best of my abilities, pausing for a second to give my little girl a kiss and my big girl a wet hug. Victory #3 is that somehow my time was not dead last. LOTS of room for improvement....but while I was typing this I got a text from my trainer and teammate with video proof of my times entering the water and arriving at transition, which were somehow 23 minutes off of what they had me down as, so that's NSV #4. Moving on...

Despite a discouraging week, well actually two whole weeks, I didn't give up. I'm still here, still logging and not going super strong, but still going!

Ran my first 10K yesterday! It was HOT. Record-breakingly hot. And I live in Vermont, where it should be nice and cool this time of year! But I did it! I ran the whole thing and beat my goal

Oh and several of my coworkers ran it with me! I'm so happy that I've connected with the active people at work. They aren't as intimidating as I always thought This is us before the race. I'm in the middle.

Had a store credit returning swimsuit that was too big. Bought a new bra. When I started losing a year ago, I was a 40G. I bought a 34DDD, front clasp bra. I feel like lifting up my sweater and showing everyone (but I won't...probably).

Also, size 10 jeans are a thing for me now.

Are you going to keep running? I loved the 10K I did a few weeks ago.

heck yeah! I've caught the running bug hook line and sinker. One of my 2017 resolutions was to do 5 races. This 10K was #4 so I have to do at least one more this year! I'm already eyeing a 10K in November that sounds lovely.

Plus there's a half marathon in April that is advertised as having NO HILLS! Um, yes.

That's amazing! One of my friends in college had a goal to get a speeding ticket on his bike someday. I have no idea if he ever did, I haven't talked to him in twenty years, but that would actually be worth the ticket just for the story. Congrats on your speed!

I'm doing good to go 13 mph on my stationary bike right now. And I have to trust that it's accurate, because it doesn't feel all that fast!

Not as impressive as most here, but I didn't need a seatbelt extension any more on a small regional jet last week. As somebody who travels constantly in my job as an aircraft mechanic, I have never needed one on mainline aircraft, but have always needed them on the small regionals.

It was a very happy discovery for me!
