HI! i am 31 years old and married my college sweetheart (cheesy) last year.. in this last year i have been going out and celebrating a litte too much with him and with friends (and skipping gym and hitting the take out foods) and boy, now does it show.

i believe the majority of my 25-30 lb weight gain in the past year is due to wine and hangover foods.

i have tried for the past month to cut out alcohol and fail (i would say i am a social drinker 2-3 x a week)

PS - my job has a bar space and often entertain clients for happy hours 1-2 x a week

i just think the liquid calories are really adding up for me and want to see what 30 days without it does, some friends call me a fun sponge.. i know they want to be supportive but they also want me to go and hang out with them at BBQs and happy hours when i want to get real about losing this weight.. i know i can go out and drink seltzer.. i know. its not the same.

anyways.. just wondering if anyone would like to try a 30 day no alcohol challenge with me! :) for the sake of weight loss and gosh, I hope i dont get an lectures for this post :)

thanks! jess

I think I would go insane if I had to give up my wine. I already gave up my delicious, sugary, high-calorie coffee drinks.. I think at this point you'd have to pry the wine bottle from my fingers lol :) Best of luck to you!!

Nah. In fact, you've encouraged me to open a bottle, but good luck to you if it's what you need just now. :)

Recently I got to a point where I drank wine almost every night, but for the past two weeks I haven't had any...For me it's easy because it was just another snack, I don't really go out much. I would drink a glass at dinner then continue after dinner. I love the taste of wine so it's easy for me to keep drinking it, and I guess I didn't give much thought to the fact that it's not that great for you.

I started logging food two weeks ago and the first few days I logged my wine but cut out other food so I could fit it in. Over the first few days of logging I finished the bottle of wine I had and at that time I also decided to start working out in the evenings so I'd be too sluggish and wouldn't want to work out if I had wine with dinner, so i stopped. It has felt so great, I can't believe wine was holding me back so much!!Not just calorie wise but I feel like I have all this time now, and I am not as sleepy at night, I enjoy my evenings a lot more...

Definitely start working out because it will help with craving it! If you are like me and you just love wine so much, if you are out with friends and everyone is drinking, maybe (without overdoing it) try to have a different drink that you don't love as much. For me if I have something other than wine, it's easy not to drink more than just one drink...it's different for everyone though.

I am definitely in on this challenge!

I drink too much just sitting at home. I'm a beer drinker and only on weekends. can't wait until Friday at 5. I'm willing to try a 10 day challenge. I've just been trying to drink in moderation. Did pretty good last weekend. I'm 47 and it's getting harder and harder to lose weight and I do think it's my weekend beer binges.

I've already cut out wine completely which was SO hard to do. Now when I want to drink, it's vodka with Sprite Zero with fresh lime. I am tempted to try this challenge with you, just with booze in general instead of wine!

not sure if you guys would check back! but if you DID - i got to 15 days! then had vodka with seltzer.. ive been drinking about once a week.. the weight is creeping off.. but i think drinking stalls me. thanks for commenting :):)

trying not to drink makes my palms sweat lol and ppl who dont drink at all think i have issues.. and friends who drink a few times a week think im too rigid. cant win!

Just found your post- how is it going for you? I am 39-my husband & I own a liquor store..... today is my 3rd day of no alcohol. Ugh! All for the sake of dieting. I've been in the liquor business pretty much my whole life, so this is pretty new to me to not drink. Eeeek! feel free to add me-we can gripe about not drinking! Lol!

I am an agreement that alcohol stalls my weightloss. Especially when I'm at the bar. It is just one of those things I refuse to track, plus liquor mixed drinks from a bartender are damn near impossible. Last night I went all out on the wine in honor of a friend moving away. Wine and lasagna-hell yeah! That was the last of my drinking for a while because it has completely derailed all my hard work. I don't find it difficult not to drink-I've done it for months at a time. But once I get back in the groove of going out (which has been the past two months) it quickly becomes a weight management problem. So, I'm right there with ya!

I've found cutting it out during the week to be helpful so I try to reserve my "wine time" for the weekends  It has made a postive diffrence in my weight loss. I try to stick to it, but have had a slip up or two. Lol

Anybody up for another 'no wine' or 'no alcohol' challenge? The more I'm reading-if I'm going to be serious about this whole weight loss/diet/fitness.... I think it would probably do me some good. This will be my 4th day-id like to make it til the end of the month...

I too drink way to much wine and believe my weight gain is mostly related to alcohol. I eat pretty healthy- but probably to much. so right now I decided to do a cleanse- and give up alcohol and caffeine. I feel really good. Once I am done with the cleanse I plan to limit it in the house and save it for social get togethers and date nights with my hubby. I am willing to do 30 days of no wine with you :-)
