Forgot to post my gratitudes this week. I'm grateful for my Wednesday classes going well and Friday class too. Seem like great students, happy with all. I'm grateful for my woman's art journaling group (meets in my home studio twice a month) this morning and inspired new member Rochelle plus all the old gang. Grateful that my mammogram was passed (no changes since 2009!). Grateful that my son's wisdom teeth made themselves known while my son was at his dad's. Step-mom and dad got him seen at the dentist (surgery hopefully next week) and got his antibiotic filled and started. Grateful for losing 9 pounds now with mfp and all the great support from other members. Finally, grateful to be alive at age 63. It's all frosting on the cake from here on out!0

I'm thankful for God! I'm thankful for his son Jesus! I'm thankful that I love and am loved. I'm thankful for peace and joy! I'm thankful for food to eat and a roof over my head. I'm thankful for all the people that stand up for Christ.0

I am grateful for the other posts on here that have made me realise that whilst it is important that I restart a goals centred approach to improving my health and fitness, there are many other things in life that need to be celebrated0

I am grateful for every day. Being to wake up and put my best foot forward. I am grateful for my children who remind me just by looking at their faces that I have to set the example and that keeps me going forward.
I am grateful for my faith as that has gotten me through some dark days. Without it I may not be here.
I am grateful for my go get um attitude and desire to live, without these two things I would surely be dead or on my way much faster.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be myself everyday and not hide behind emotions or situations anymore. My past will NOT dictate my future. That is now for me to decide.
Finally I am grateful for the chance to learn how to trust again. Trust myself, trust my husband, just trust. Trust is the hardest piece of the puzzle for me right now and hopefully I can overcome that. Maybe this is my second chance at love and true happiness.0 -
I am grateful that I have the time to make healthy meals for myself and my husband.

I grateful that my son is feeling better today (he had a migraine yesterday evening) and is happy playing online with his friends. I'm grateful that he's met a girl he likes. I'm grateful that I have a Redstone class for October. Hopeful about Westwood and DeVry, we'll see. Grateful to be alive.0

I don't know if this is allowed, however this was went to me by a family member and I wanted to share it. It brought tears to my eyes and today I am very grateful that I am not alone and that I am truly loved.
The
Cab Ride
I arrived at the address and honked the horn.
after waiting a few minutes
I walked to the door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a
frail, elderly voice. I could hear something
being dragged across the floor.
After
a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in
her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a
print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned
on it, like somebody out of a 1940's
movie.
By her side was a small nylon
suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had
lived in it for years. All the furniture was
covered with sheets.
There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils
on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and
glassware..
'Would you carry my bag
out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase
to the cab, then returned to assist the
woman.
She took my arm and we walked
slowly toward the curb.
She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I
told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers
the way I would want my mother to be
treated.'
'Oh, you're such a good
boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave
me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive
through downtown?'
'It's not the
shortest way,' I answered quickly..
'Oh, I don't mind,' she
said. 'I'm in no hurry I'm on my way to a
hospice.
I looked in the rear-view
mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have
any family left,' she continued in a soft
voice.. 'The doctor says I don't have very
long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the
meter.
'What route would you like me
to take?' I asked.
For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me
the building where she had once worked as an
elevator operator.
We drove through the neighbourhood where she and her husband
had lived when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in
front of a furniture warehouse that had once
been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.
Sometimes she'd ask me to slow
in front of a particular building or corner and
would sit staring into the darkness, saying
nothing.
As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon,
she suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now'.
We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was
a low building, like a small convalescent home,
with a driveway that passed under a portico.
Two orderlies came out to
the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were
solicitous and intent, watching her every move.
They must have been expecting her.
I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to
the door. The woman was already seated in a
wheelchair.
'How much do I owe you?'
She asked, reaching into her
purse.
'Nothing,' I said
'You have to make a living,' she answered.
'There are other passengers,' I responded.
Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.
She held onto me tightly.
'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,'
she said 'Thank you.'
I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning
light.. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound
of the closing of a life..
I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove
aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that
day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had
gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient
to end his shift?
What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked
once, then driven away?
On a quick
review, I don't think that I have done anything
more important in my life.
We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve
around great moments.
But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully
wrapped in what others may consider a small one.
PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY
WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID ~BUT~THEY WILL
ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL
Life
may not be the party we hoped for, but while we
are here we might as well dance. :flowerforyou:0 -

Grateful that it was easy to stay within my calorie goal today and that I wasn't hungry. Grateful that I was able to shift my money around so finances work this week. Grateful to be making Soul Collage cards again. Grateful that my pants are fitting a little bit looser.0

I am grateful that I have been given so far 25 years of life. This world is a scary place but I have seen many beautiful things. I am grateful for my husband who works so hard to keep a roof over my and our rabbit's head. After being unemployed for a couple of months, I am thankful that I will be starting a new job on Tuesday! My best friend of 20 years just had her first baby and he is healthy and so adorable!! I feel like there is so much I can be thankful for and so much to cherish! The list can go on and on and on..0

I am grateful for the emergency vet that is close where I took my rabbit at midnight. I am grateful that my rabbit likes the nutrient dense food I have to syringe feed him instead of having to literally force feed him and I am grateful that the antibiotic combo he is on seems to be working faster than the vet expected.
I am also thankful for the vet that helped your rabbit! What kind of rabbit do you have? Hope he is feeling better!!!!0 -

I'm grateful for everything in my life. I am grateful for financial security, for a loving girlfriend and grateful that I am the sum of my experiences without being trampled by them. I am very lucky and there are many who are not as lucky as I am.0

Today I am grateful for a portable generator that ran our whole house hold. We had a scheduled power outage for 9 hours today and I was concerned with the freezer that we just filled will meat from the butcher.
I am grateful that I have my husband to take care of all the mechanical stuff that I know nothing about, but am slowly learning.
I am grateful that I am filthy rich with all the love and support from family and friends during my weight loss journey.
I am grateful that I am above ground, breathing fresh air and that I am able to take care and fend for myself.

I am grateful for the new medication my doctor is trying for my major depressive disorder. It is newly-FDA approved and (crossing fingers) seems to be working! I feel a lot better than I did a few weeks ago, when I had major dips of depression. Thank goodness they only lasted for a day or two. OK, I guess I'm grateful for two things! :happy:0

Today I'm grateful that my teen is in a good mood and just completed his chores. I'm grateful to get to work for Jennifer at her estate sale and meet her daughter who I have only seen pictures of before. I'm grateful to have been given a huge bunch of national geographics (I use for art) that were going to be thrown away otherwise (pure gold). I'm grateful to have stayed pretty much within calories (not 100% certain) even though I did not really have complete control of my food today. I'm grateful for the feel and smell of a cool rain shower on a hot afternoon.0

I am grateful for being able to take 2 weeks unpaid vacation to drive for two days in my old car which then needed horrendously expensive repairs after the trip, with my hubby and three kids, through torrential rain to visit my ailing parents. I am grateful that we arrived there and then home again safely. I am grateful that my husband is such a good driver and kept us safe even though the driving conditions were so bad. I am grateful that our 3 kids took the whole trip with such good attitudes, no fighting, but spent the time chatting and keeping each other occupied. Their good manners with everyone they met along the way made me proud. I am grateful that the people at the dealership that repaired our car were so kind and honest. They kept trimming items off the bill until we could afford it, and fixed the car perfectly. I am grateful that i have a job to return to. Most of all, I am grateful that I had this chance to spend time with my parents, and left them in better health than when we arrived. I don't know if I will get the opportunity again.0
