    Canada has a lot to answer for in terms of music: Nickelback, Justin Beiber, Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Barenaked Ladies, Drake, etc etc. having said that I think that Rush makes up for it.

    I would say that Nickelback is the quintessential sanitised pop rock, entirely inoffensive and boring, every song sounds the same. Having said that good on them for making millions of dollars and doing what they love.

    Ok, there are some other good Canadian musicians...like Neil Young, and Broken Social Scene. and...well, I guess that's it. LOL

    They are kind of like John Grisham books......started out new and fresh and then became the same thing over and over.

    I saw them live when Rock Star was the top single. It was kind of like watching a Pepsi commercial.

    I still sing along to all of their songs.....can't help it.

    There are two main reasons why I dislike Nickleback.

    First, during the time that Nickelback became popular, post-grunge wave was still dominating the alternative rock scene. During this time, Nickelback, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers were all equally huge. Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers (kinda) changed their styles with the time. Nickelback I believe failed to do that.

    For me, bands like Nickelback, Shinedown, Saving Abel, Hinder sound very monotonous and boring. All of their sounds follow a very similar formula. If you youtube the Nickelback formula, you'll see a lot of parodies on the band.

    Every band you listed is on my playlist. Add Pink Floyd along with my metal and punk bands, and that's my library.

    I think we can't be friends. My new theme song is "Sound of Madness."

    We can't be friends that talk about music or go to shows together. lol

    But Dave Grohl is 10 billion times more awesome a person than Chad. I am not a fan of the Foos but I love Dave Grohl, no homo

    Judging by this thread the answer is they get so much airtime because women over a certain age dig their music.

    Speaking as a woman of a certain age, this is THE most annoying statement in the history of MFP.

    Are you sure it's not the bestest statement b/c it implies that women over a certain age are the target demographic of all the radio stations and thus we rule the world?
