What would you do
So my wedding is coming up. 4 months from now, I am SO super excited. I cannot wait for my big day. It's like....I've waited forever.
The main issue I'm having is my wedding party. Two of my friends who I love dearly. We went to a dress fitting.
-One girl has gained like 10lbs. Like she looks like a mess. How do I say this? After the fitting she wants to go get burgers and fries and beer. And all I can think is "REALLY? You now have to order a SIZE 8 instead of the 6 you promised me"
She also won't get up at 5am anymore to join me on my two hour workouts.
-The other has lost like 10lbs. She looks great. Like a million times better than me. And really, it's not fair.
Don't they both realize I had a plan. We'd all be perfect size sixes except for me who will be smaller.
All the sudden one is an 8, one is a 4....
It's messing up everything.
SO what would you do?
My fiance tells me to chill out an enjoy this process. But what does he know? Seriously. He has 4 dudes standing with him who all look like they have been on benders since Boy Meets World aired all those years ago.

I say cut them both and find new, pretty bridesmaids -- even if you have to hire them.0
-
Just break up. Obviously, this wedding can't happen if it's going to make you feel bad about yourself and your friends.0
-
Pretend you have coupons for a salad bar when you go out after dress fittings. And what you could do is ask the seamstress to make the dress tighter and SAY it's a size 8. Then your bridesmaid will think she's getting REALLY fat and will at the very least stop gaining weight. She might even lose enough if she feels bad that she can fit in a size six. But DON'T tell her until after the wedding. It's your thank-you gift for her being your bridesmaid.0

It's YOUR day. I think you have the right to say something to them. If they don't understand (I don't understand how they wouldn't!!) they're pretty selfish.
Congratulations too!0 -
Can I come to the wedding and meet one of the groomsmen? I loved Boy Meets World!0
-
You should forward the one gaining weight that Groupon for liposuction. Then you should invite the other one who is losing weight out for pizza and beer, but then order a salad for yourself.0

I think the stress is have a little bit of a toll on you .... and the bridle party.0

SHAME on you!! Those women graciously agreed to stand beside you while you marry the man of your dreams! How DARE you say what size they should be! I hope somebody spills grape Koolaid on your dress while you walk down the aisle!!0
-
Sooo... the bridesmaids have to be a size 6? How about giving them ultimatums. Like, have alternates ready for the big day. Go ahead and order the size 6 dresses. If the chubbier one can't fit into it, use the size 6 alternate. I volunteer to be an alternate!!!0

Wow. No offense, but did you READ what you just wrote?

GASP! I just remembered a wedding I worked at a country club where a server spilled red wine on the bride's dress. Talk about a stressful situation!0 -

Are you serious? If so, I'm really glad I'm not your friend. I wear a size 8 sometimes depending on the cut. I don't think I "look a mess."

Yes 6. 6 is supposed to be the perfect size. So really, it's my wedding. It should be my perfect day.
I truly don't think I'm asking too much.
I knew, I just KNEW I should have made them sign a contract.0 -
I hope you're just trolling.
What would I do? I'd drop you, the bride, as a friend if you told me to lose weight.
These are your friends, not hired models. Shallow and superficial much? Yeah, you are. It doesn't matter what size they are or aren't, they are still your FRIENDS. You should love them and want them to be in your wedding for that reason, not because they were some perfect size.
And honestly, no one at your wedding is going to know what size their dresses are. And 99.9% of the people aren't going to remember or care what they are wearing. Their eyes will be on the bride and groom.0 -

OMG! I love horses!0 -
The most important part is that they are a size larger than you.
But I can also see the importance of matching sizes. It balances things out.
It it were my wedding, I'd put them all on a supervised diet and exercise program. With weekly weigh-ins.
It'S YOUR DAY!!!0 -
Gee, your friends sure are rude not making it all about you.0

Doh! I fell for it. Nicely done.0 -

That's rude. They're size 8s - not big as a horse. Wow.0 -
Bridezilla !! I would tell you to find someone else .. seriously... Telling your friends either they are too fat or too skinny to be a bridesmaid... You got big ones girl ! :noway:0

IT'S HER DAY!!!
You only get to do this one time. Maybe two or three IF you're lucky!!!0 -
ETA: I volunteer as tribute!0 -
This is a joke, right?0

So far, I like the ultimatum idea. I would personally love it if someone gave me an ultimatum! That would solve all my problems. The only thing you have to remember is follow through, so have a back up in case they don't lose the weight. Wouldn't it be darling if you had some ponies wearing your wedding colours and carrying bouquets in their teeth to walk down the isle with you??? I think that would be darling!
Alternatively, just break up.0 -
Have you told them about corset training yet?0

I didn't want to deal with "people" and their unrealistic expectaions at my wedding so I got married in Jamaica. Just me and hubs. I don't even know and cannot pronounce the names of the pastor or our witnesses. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.0

Just get the 8 some juice cleanses to help them purge off the extra weight and she should be fine, and one of those wraps that drop inches (those things work wonders for events like this). It could be your gift to her.
Offer something similar to the other one only fill the bottles with bulk drinks to get her to fill back out. Just watch out, because if it is too much protein she might start to look manly.0 -
