BATMAN = from earth, no 'powers', makes/sources all his 'toys'. wealthy playboy. ALL THE WINS.

    :drinker:

*note - This is also what makes Iron Man awesome... jus' sayin'.

so where does Green Lantern fit into superhero lameness?

His lameness is his superpower, and he has it in spades.

He got his super powers from jewelry. I think that sums it up.

And can be defeated by the colour yellow...LAME!

You know, it's just two shades of the same color, honestly. Bruce is dark and laid-back. Tony is dark with a side of enthusiasm.

Disagree just for the fact that Bruce Wayne hides behind the mask and Tony Stark goes on television and says "I'm Iron Man, come at me, bro!!"

Hmmmm... valid point--i see how that would appeal.

i frequently rely upon my own 'bangability' index as a reliable personality diagnostic--as i'm attracted to minds/personalities more than anything else, and only to those that are intelligent, creative, and unselfish--thus by virtue of the last factor (in my reckoning) Wayne is emminently bangable while Stark is decidedly not. It's an ego thing for me.

Also, to the people talking about who the best X-Man is, it's JEAN GREY, FOOLS.

Spiderman. One guy and hasn't died to be resurrected.

Superman was supposedly the last of Krypton.................but wait his cousin survived, and a dog too. And he's died and came back. Oh and has several other "universe" personalities.

This is a pointless topic because you are comparing the best hero of all time against the worst.

batman and iron man are far more interesting characters than superman. Not sure if I agree...
  • Spiderman for sure! Cause a wise cracking, snarky sense of humor beats out a square pants personality any day. (no offense to Superman fans.)

While I like them both. Spriderman wins hands down for these reasons. ^^^

To answer the question, I mostly agree with Brett - Spider-man is the more relate-able character. He's got more personality and more "real world" problems.

DC's best superheroes have always struck me as very one dimensional. Personally I don't like that.

Superman is nearly invincible... there is no struggle with fearing pain or death (yes I am aware he died, he got better). Superman can more or less be anywhere in the world in an instant... there is rarely the struggle of what if I can't save ___ or I can't do both X and Y, I have to make the horrible choice between the two (I know it happens sometimes, but more or less). Ok, Superman has the problem of dealing with his loved one's safety, but in most story lines he hasn't suffered the loses that Spiderman has. Sure he has to deal with the loss of his home planet/parents but these are things he never even knew. Spiderman suffers all this and still manages to be a cutup, make jokes, and enjoy being a superhero. He screws up, he gets his *kitten* kicked, but he gets back up. Both feel the weight of responsibility, but Spidey's is more personal... Superman always had this superior-take-care-of-the-earthlings mentality.

And I'm sorry sometimes DC's superhero weaknesses are lame. Superman is basically a god, unless you have a rock and then he is helpless. Green Lantern basically has the power to create anything out of pure energy.... but his weakness is the color yellow? Spiderman is just a way better character in my opinion.
