Living on 1300 cal/day and gaining muscle? BS, unless you are a hobbit......
I don't know... They walk EVERYWHERE, farm all their own food, and sometimes go on these crazy multi mile a day, multi month adventures... I'd imagine they'd need more thatn 1300 cals a day in order to maintain.
Plus, have you SEEN how much they eat to maintain their current body shape? There's no WAY they could build muscle on 1300 cals.

Exactly. How do they work in third breakfast and second lunch if they're stuck eating 1300 calories a day?
Portion control.
maybe they IF and just fit it all into one tiny window and label it different things?
they certainly IF while on long treks... which is surprising because they MUST be at a significant deficit and yet they don't seem to change in terms of size much. But when at home, they refer to a multitude of meals (breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies)...
And their larter is not calorie reduced items - replete with carbs and fats. And ale lots of ale.
I think I want to be a hobbit.
If only I didn't hate the idea of having hairy feet.
Off topic: I studied abroad in NZ/Middle Earth and it is probably my favorite place on the planet. It also blew people's minds that NZ and California are roughly the same size, yet there's 33 million(ish) people in California and 4 million(ish) people in NZ. Just a fantastically lovely place.
On topic: The only experience I've had with a personal trainer was the free with paid membership session. I will give it to the woman, she definitely made me sore over our 15-20 minute session, but because it was more of a foot in the door to try to make me buy more sessions, she got nasty real fast. In fact, she told me to come see her when I "got serious" about losing weight. Needless to say, I didn't go back.0 -
I once had a primary care doctor tell me that the average male only needs 1200 calories, and will burn 400 calories walking for 30 minutes. So that's all I needed to do to lose weight -- eat 1200 calories and walk for 30 minutes. I was 230 lbs at the time.
I guess technically, if I followed his plan, I would have lost weight. So in that sense, I suppose that his plan was still better than the one in the OP here. Still... I imagine he spent a lot more years getting his credentials only to come out only marginally less of a nitwit than the personal trainer in question.
You would be surprised to learn that he is no longer my doctor.0 -

That would offer some clue as to why they are hungry all the time.0 -
