Just a heads up, I thought chicken thighs would be some what similar to chicken breasts in nutrition. Turns out for 200g, there are 452 calories! And that was only my first meal of the day.. it totaled to 850 calories!

You know what? chicken butt..
Wanna know why? chicken thigh..
I'm sorry..... I couldn't resist...0 -
There's no need to avoid them. Just like anything else, you need to make sure they fit in your calories and macros for the day. If you don't check nutritional information ahead of time, you're bound to run into unpleasant surprises like these. If there's a cut of meat on sale that I'm not familiar with, I don't buy it until I'm sure it can fit the way I eat.0

Chicken thighs contain more fat - which makes them superior to beast meat.0

Did you know that 1 tiny little chicken butt contains right around 100 calories?
I really shouldn't know this.0 -

Yeah, I guess I didn't know as they were cooked for me.. :noway:0 -
Chicken thighs are delicious and nearly impossible to overcook and make dry. I guess you just have to pay a higher price for eating the best part of the chicken...0

& that's why they're tastier!!!!0

According to the Perdue website, skinless boneless breast meat has 29 calories per ounce and skinless boneless thighs have 35 calories per ounce. Not a very large difference at all. When we grill chicken we frequently use thighs since they don't dry out like white meat tends to do.0

You're complaining because you didn't take the responsibility to know what you were eating before you ate it. That doesn't mean other people should avoid chicken thighs.0 -
Am I wrong in thinking that you seem a little angry? :indifferent:0

Just like eggs eat the whole bird. Ditch the skin and trim most of the fat though.0

There's nothing wrong with chicken thighs, just make sure you are eating properly and not going over your calorie allowence and meeting your MACROS.
Personally, I hate dark meat and avoid them anyway, but that doesn't make them bad.0 -

Ditch shells and feathers and bones. Not the skin nor the fat! That's the best part.0 -

whatever entry you're looking at must include the skin. According to USDA, 4 oz (112 grams) boneless/skinless chicken thigh is 184 calories...yes, more than 4 oz of chicken breast which is around 120 but IMHO, quite worth the difference. I love the skin too, but generally discard it due to the fact that it's just fat and extra calories at that point.0 -
I don't see the problem, move along people...
