Am I the only one that thinks some of them could lower the weight and improve their form? I am definitely impressed by what they are doing just don't want people injuring themselves.

Yea, we don't want people doing 1 rep max lifts. Too dangerous . . .

I just saw a few issues with form is all. I didn't say there was anything wrong with them testing their limits. I just don't think form should be sacrificed. Maybe that's just me... shrugs.

What is it they say about those who can, do; and those who can't....

Or those we pre- existing back and knee conditions have to be a bit more careful. I definitely respect these women and hope to progress to their level. I just tend to be more particular with my form. Everyone doesn't have my issues though and it's probably not as big a deal for them :-)

Interesting watching the spotters, I just lift all by myself in my basement, are those weightlifting pals or do they work for the place?

youre crazy to think there wasnt some bad form on those squats
  • Sign me up for being bulky with muscle vs. this chubulk I've been carrying around. lol. I have to get creative with body weight exercises because I don't have access to a trainer or gym. I hope I will eventually because I'd love to get stronger and would definitely benefit from advice on form and access to weights and machines.

I used to have really nice arms, back and lower body when I was working on a horse farm and lifting heavy wheelbarrows of manure, hay bales, grain bags and big show saddles. Plus all the stall cleaning, walking to and from the arena, and riding. ( great core strength). I was also doing cardio at the time, though.
My body fat was about 16% or less. I got tons of complements.
I'm not crazy about the Miss Olympia look but I love the way the fitness competitors and crossfit women look.
My husband doesn't like it at all but I'm sure that if he saw me get that way gradually he would love it,too.

not everybody has the best form, but they are being safe. They have multiple spotters around and look like they know what they are doing, my form SUCKS most days but good enough to get the job done
Exactly. There were small issues, but that's to be expected at near-maximal exertion, and there was nothing terrible.

I need to get some breast implants so I don't have to go down so far on my bench press.

My husband likes to make fun of me for that exact point when he occasionally spots me. "Must be nice to have those in the way." he says with a wink.

On the whole video, there was one woman who didn't break parallel with her squat attempt, but she came damn close. As for set-up and form, it was minor tweaking. And it certainly beats the bs half squats I see most people do at my gym.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. There IS such thing as 'too bulky'. Not everyone wants to look the same. While I have a lot of respect for strong women who can lift heavy weights, I also see a lot of women who *I* would consider 'too bulky'...for my liking. What's wrong with wanting to look a little less defined?

For the record, I lift as heavy as possible. BUT I'm a little tired of hearing people mock women who don't want to look like some people think they should want to look. :/

Did you even watch the ****ing video? The girl squatting at 5 mins in looks like she'd weigh less than 45kg soaking wet.

Calm down, I watched the video. I was referring to the general attitude of 'pssh, they think they can get bulky, hahaha.'

Did I say that? I'm not sure why someone saying they don't want to look bulky always causes a bad reaction. Confusing.

Because it advocates in favour of the idea that it is easy. Which it is not. The whole idea that it can happen by accident or as a side effect is highly insulting to people who put hours every week into getting "bulky".
