Just my two cents worth.
Slim people aren't miserable and hungry.
Your appetite will match your needs eventually. You'll need less food and get full quicker.
I'd go to maintenance for a while then go for it again. You'll feel amazing with less body weight. I promise.0 -
I hate the 'hangry' label. If you disagree with someone's intake choice, fine, but their having emotion isn't support for your hypothesis. It's as bad as accusing a woman of PMSing.
You may hate it but it's a reality. Hangriness and pmt feel remarkably similar and illogical. When you're in it you NEED someone to tell you because one of the symptoms is denial.0 -
/sigh you know what0

What just happened?
We touched a nerve. And the OP is having some "hanger" issues. Which is TOTALLY understandable. I'd be hangry too, if I ate that much below my TDEE
This actually might be it. Maybe I am eating too little these days and it's making me angry and miserable. I've been tying to push my diet and fitness as far as can be. Maybe I've just hit my breaking point and need to step back a bit. It really can't help that im Bipolar as well. Hell maybe I just had a bad night.
@ JaneiR Things do change y'know, What was true then is not always true now. It's not nice to underhandedly accuse someone of lying.0 -

I'm sorry you took offense. But a nice PM would be more polite.0 -

Nope if that's what I wanted to communicate I would have said just that. It just seems that the people who actually figured out what you were getting at all along got jumped on the most :ohwell:0 -

Does your psychdoc know you're dieting this stringently? I HIGHLY URGE you to make sure all of your doctors know how much you're restricting your diet. Hormone levels and brain chemistry get affected by an intake that's way below your TDEE. And drop in weight can effect a medications therapeutic dose.
FROM EXPERIENCE I want you to know what I think is going on. When you're super obese, you have a lot of fat to burn. That's why when you restricted way below your TDEE (like more than 1000 below your TDEE) you didn't notice in particular hormonal/brain chemistry issues, because your body was able to cannibalize your readily available fat stores (our bodies are really good at that). But now that you're not super obese anymore, it's tougher for your body to make the necessary chemicals and hormones that are needed for brain function from the nutrients you're providing it. And if you're bipolar, you're even MORE sensitive to these issues. You're fine. You're doing great. But the answer isn't (IMHO) to go back to eating as much as you want. In my opinion, you should try counting calories so you're eating at maintenance for a few weeks, and give your brain/brain chemicals/neurotransmitters/hormones a chance to stabilize a bit.

No I don't think that's it. And I don't control with medication. I was diagnosed but it's rather minor and my attacks are few and far between and hardly dangerous. The worst I do is go off on a bender and start an argument. I've actually been having attacks a lot less since I started losing weight. Especially there have been no depressive ones. So I don't think my diet has done much to me. If youl note I only ate 1800 for a few days and I was also working the crap out of the gym. Probably a mistake yeah but hardly one Im likely to repeat now that I've made it. And yeah as ashamed as I am to admit it this whole shebang might have been rather reactionary.
I know I look stupid apologizing. Believe me this aint easy. Normally I become aware of manic and depressive episodes when they happen and I just avoid people and bad influences. But well I haven't had one hardly since I started exercising. I actually thought it might be over for me. So I stopped second guessing my own reactions. But like you said driving my calorie count too low and my exercise level right up the same week must have triggered it. I don't think I need to go back to maintenance but I'm gonna take in just a few extra calories even compared to normal diet .. which is 2100 - 2200 to make up for it a bit and get right back on with it.
So deal with it or hate me i guess. I don't have many friends in the end but they are all good people. And I am sorry.0 -
Bless you! You're only human. I think this thread will help people. I get like this too, I get overtrained and exhausted and my mind plays horrible tricks on me. I spent years in a foul low carb low caloried mood! My health anxieties and insecurities take over sometimes.
It's all lessons learned! I think you should maintain for a while and get your balance back. Don't overdo the gym, do some yoga, swimming, nice walks, massages. Then take it slowly, you'll soon be where you want to be.0
