    catfish.gif

These dudes know how it's done.

I love these guys, I think Nev is really hot actually. But to answer the question If they always make excuses not to meet you, they won't skype and/or talk on the phone. Also Google image search is a great at telling you who is really in the pics.

you learn something new every day, man! Catfish....first time I ever heard of that. And here I was thinking it was a ray-finned siluriformes.

If they won't skype with you.
If their photos all look like the photos that came with the last picture frame you bought at walmart.
If you get hits on a google image or tineye search.
If they talk about YOU almost exclusively and talk less about themselves than the average person.
If they won't meet you and have elaborate danger filled excuses as to why not.
If they claim english is their first language but yet they have an accent or can't string together a complete sentence.
If you're on an online dating site, they try to get you off the site and into an IM/email ASAP because they know their account is going to get deleted.

I've been the attempted target of MANY scammers. I'm not talking about lonely people catfishing because of their unfortunate looks, I'm referring to the professionals who do it for money. onlinedating+40something+divorced+american+fat=excellent target. When I was doing online dating, I mostly would search for dates in my own city but I was certainly open to talking to anyone no matter where they were from. The scammers were evident right away. They only wanted to talk about me and never really talked about themselves, They thought I was an angel blah blah blah. I had one once that I sniffed out on the first day but strung along for several weeks and when I finally got bored told him that I knew he was in Angola and not in North Carolina as he stated, he actually got mad at me and told me that I had been unfair to waste his time and money and that he's working hard.. WTF? Yeah, they see their scamming as just a regular job. (BTW I didn't know for SURE that he was in Angola, but he had told me that he was originally from Portugal and since Angola is well known for "internet romance fraud" AND Angolans speak Portuguese, I made an educated guess)

Of course not all people you meet online are trying to catfish you. I met my husband online. He was thousands of miles away in Northern Africa... I vetted him rigorously and discovered he was 100% legit. We skyped daily, spoke on the phone regularly, talked with each other's families.. and the big one, he NEVER EVER EVER asked me for money. We're now married and I'm living here in Tunisia.. Who'd have thunk it?

You just simply take a chance.

    Or, you don't internet date.

Great advice! A lot of shady people out there, best to meet in real life. Sad to say I have met a few MFP "ladies" who were major catfish and wanted to nail my hubs who is also on here. They lead sad little lives.

Usually they're not in shallow enough water to see. Your best chance is to find them shallow during the spawn (usually early summer).

You might find blues suspended under bait on you graph as well.
