I didn't read the books but I would have thought Christian would have been cast as a more manly looking dude. Oh well, I'm only going to go see this because my wife will probably make me. Should I fake cancer or a sore tooth to get out of going to see it? Decisions.

No go.. and then remind her you went on March 17th..

I posted about this earlier on my newsfeed earlier today.

Horrible. Looks boring. Actors are really average-looking, especially the dude. I have no clue who either of those actors even are. I never read the books all the way through because they were so badly written and I honestly hated the characters, especially Anastasia. It's also a huge misrepresentation of the BDSM lifestyle to the point where it sort of pisses me off. If I want to read some good BDSM, I can get it for free online - and it'll be much better quality and WAY more accurate - and preferably with no women involved. :)

I was actually excited about the trailer just because of the steamy factor, but it was just a huge disappointment. I don't find the guy playing Christian attractive at all, and the girl playing Anastasia looks too old for that role.

    Just...bad, bad, bad.

The books were terrible and lame. Can't imagine the movie will be any good.

I could not agree with you more! I wish i could get back the time I wasted reading the first one!

The book was so bad (I barely read it. I flipped through looking for the "wild and hot sex scenes" and didn't find anything remotely shocking). So I am guessing the movie will be really, really vanilla and lame as well.

I will say though that the author had one heck of a marketing agent and I can only hope to have someone like that working for me when I get my book published.

Why can't everyone just watch hardcore porn like normal folk? So much more to the point with less vaginal wording.

Interesting observation from when I worked at a bookstore and these books came out. The majority of purchases of these books were accompanied with Christian Inspiration books. I just thought that was interesting...

Judging by the female posts here, I have a renewed hope in the fairer sex regarding film and literature.

The books never appealed to me at all....and seeing the trailer just made it way less appealing.

Ugh, I read the book because people wouldn't stop talking about it, and I hate criticizing stuff I know nothing about. It's awful. It's BDSM-lite for people that don't know anything about BDSM. The main characters did not have a healthy dom/sub relationship. The blandness of Anastasia's character, along with the quality of the writing, make the book's origin as a Twilight fanfic all too obvious.

For the record, I bear no ill will to people who enjoy the books - I have several friends who graciously endure my eye-rolling when they bring up the subject - I just hope that none of them drag me out to see this movie!

Wait one hot minute! Nickelback isn't cool? Guess I'll have to get rid of all my douchey Ed Hardy shirts.
