Marry for Money not Love

Mr. Darcy soon drew the attention of the room by his fine, tall person, handsome features, noble mien, and the report which was in general circulation within five minutes after his entrance, of his having ten thousand a year. The gentlemen pronounced him to be a fine figure of a man, the ladies declared he was much handsomer than Mr. Bingley, and he was looked at with great admiration for about half the evening, till his manners gave a disgust which turned the tide of his popularity; for he was discovered to be proud; to be above his company, and above being pleased; and not all his large estate in Derbyshire could then save him from having a most forbidding, disagreeable countenance, and being unworthy to be compared with his friend.

Good plan.0

All the money could not change the fact that he is a douch if he is or keep me at his side if he cheats... so money as long as he is independent (meaning I won't be taking care of him) doesn't matter to me... nor do I expect for him to take care of me financially...0

See I married for love, but then although he's on a good wage I earn more. Will have to ask him!0

I'm sure there's an appropriate gif for this...0

Not Jane Austin but.......
""If you do not believe that hearts can bloom suddenly bigger, and that love can open like a flower out of even the hardest places, then I am afraid that for you the road will be long and brown and barren, and you will have trouble finding the light.
But if you do believe, then you already know all about magic."0 -
Is this where I sign up to be a sugar daddy?0

Honey, I think you are taking the biker thing too far.
Are you drunk still?
this made me lol0 -
Since when does a man have to provide for a woman?
If both work and support themselves, and they can both put a little aside for a child, then what more do you need? I don't expect or want a man to support me. I think I might become a paranoid wreck if one ever did! hahha0 -
I know of great guys out there -- journalists, teachers, non-profit dudes -- who will probably make great dads. But I personally wouldn't wouldn't advise women pair up with them because, realistically, his salaries just wouldn't be enough to cut it for what they want out of life.
My salary is enough for what my child and I want out of life. I don't need a man to provide anything money can buy. Except maybe sex. I don't like paying for sex.
^^This. I hate paying for sex.
I am "single" in the marital sense and provide just fine for Shiloh, Miss Pickles, Benjamin, mini and me.

Having this guy in my life, and not his money, is just a bonus...
Well said. :flowerforyou:0 -
Who needs love when you drive a car worth an entire third-world village!

City girls just seem to find out early
How to open doors with just a smile
A rich old man
And she won't have to worry
She'll dress up all in lace and go in style
Late at night a big old house gets lonely
I guess every form of refuge has its price
And it breaks her heart to think her love is
Only given to a man with hands as cold as ice
So she tells him she must go out for the evening
To comfort an old friend who's feelin' down
But he knows where she's goin' as she's leavin'
She is headed for the cheatin' side of town
You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin eyes...0 -
Also, you men folk should marry ugly women. They're better cooks.0

I have been the breadwinner in my family for the last 7 years. My husband is in law enforcement. He has 7 years on the job and is now almost making the same salary as me.
I turned myself into the type of person I always envisioned I would marry.
My advice on marriage is do it if you want to but never expect anyone else to make you happy. That is your job.
To those who wonder if the salary thing hurts our relationship, I would say, not really. It does come up when we fight every now and then but mostly on the days when he complains about his job.0 -
Why can't a woman find both? Are these things necessarily mutually exclusive? Are wealthy men inherently unlovable, while less well-off men are the ultimate in lovey-dovey perfection?
Ummm, Mr. Darcy did get the girl at the end of the book.0 -

I get what the OP is saying and I partially agree with it.

and less likely to cheat.
Although per OP's other thread this morning, that means it will be a worse relationship.0 -
Damnit, I'm doing it wrong. Any sugar daddys out there that I can leave my loving husband for?0

No, 'cause he'll cheat, 'cause she's ugly. So then the relationship will be healthy. It's the way it's intended.0 -
as long as he's able to support himself and i'm able to support myself, then there's no issue. children are a non-issue for me.
also, just so ya know it's not 1950. i don't need a man to take care of me and i'm no one's brood mare.0 -

Love is over rated. Let me give you all of my money so you can have sex with the pool boy.0 -
I will never mix money with a man again.0

I do not care how much he makes, ain't going to hook up with him.
I know I am a bit of of a prude about this, I just do not roll that way.
Different strokes for different folks, wait that not what I meant, nope, not at all!0 -
<--- This is what marrying a teacher looks like. I think I made the right choice.0
