    I made up a new exercise in the "exercise" section of MFP. It's called "Putzing around doing stuff that's kind of hard." :bigsmile:

    8/3 - 1.3 miles at less than 10mph.
    8/4 - 1.9 miles at 10.3mph.
    8/5 - 3.0 miles at 10.1mph.
    8/6 - 1.4 miles at 9.1mph.
    8/7 - 1.2 miles at 9.2mph.
    8/8 - 1.4 miles at 9.3mph.
    8/10 - 1.5 miles at 10.2mph.
    8/11 - 0.7 miles.
    8/13 - 1.0 miles.
    8/14 - 0.9 miles.
    8/15 - 2.5 miles at 10.4mph.
    8/16 - 0.5 miles.
    8/17 - 0.7 miles. Almost all of these little trips are just cool downs from mowing or other yard work/gardening - which wear me out plenty.
    8/18 - 2.9 miles at 10.2mph.
    8/20 - 0.6 miles.
    8/22 - 1.2 miles. (109 heat index yesterday, today, and tomorrow.)
    8/24 - 1.3 miles.
    8/25 - 1.7 miles at 10.1mph.
    8/26 - 1.6 miles.
    8/27 - 2.2 miles at 9.5mph.
    8/28 - 1.4 miles.
    8/29 - 1.1 miles.
    8/30 - 1.1 miles.

    I put in 363 miles for the month including one long bike ride of 90 miles...August - I love you.

    Okay, August sucked (sorry, I usually try to use more refined language, but barring cuss words there is really no other way to say it)!

    As the moist difficult month that I've ever been through draws to a close, I am looking forward to September. My bike and I are estranged friends, and I doubt that will change this next month. Still, I give it a fond pat every time I walk through my garage and offer promises for next year.

    Though I may not be riding myself, I am still giving silent cheers to all of you who have joined in on this thread. Thank you for being here!

    08/04 - 17.7mi in 1:05:00 - Easy ride to burn off calories gained at the LFC vs. AC Milan Match in Charlotte.

    08/06 - 17.8mi in 1:05:48 - intervals.... blaah

    08/10 - 30.3mi in 1:58:40 - Another slow roll taking pictures and exploring a new section of the Greenway.

    08/14 - 17.1mi in 57:08 - Went hard, for me anyway..........

    08/16 - 26.4mi in 1:42:41 - Felt lousy, but rode anyway.

    08/17 - 70.8mi in 4:22:50 - Nice long ride, good pace with the A's for first 50 miles, then rode with the B/C folks for last 20.

    08/23 - 65.0mi in 3:32:19 - Charity ride, good pace again for first 50 and then I faded due lack of fitness.

    08/26 - 17.1mi in 1:09:53 - Slow roll keeping heart rate nice and low.

    08/29 - 43.6mi in 2:31:28 - Pretty good pace, especially at the start.

    08/30 - 55.9mi in - Had no legs, was a miserable ride.

    Total for August: 361.6mi in 17:56:44

    I went on a fast 22mile group ride but got dropped at a tiny hill about 10 miles in. Could barely draft off the back of the pack as they were averaging 25mph on the flats and 22.3mph for the whole ride. Extra 7 miles was warm up/cool down ride to the start. Was not able to achieve my 'goal #2' for August but still very happy with getting back in biking shape and mileage I did get. September will be short rides while working on my speed.

    Also managed both a new distance and speed record in the same week.

    August Total: 846 miles and 42,850 feet of climbing


    Goal #1 for August: 400 miles with 20,000' climbing --- REACHED 08/10!!!
    Goal #2 for August: 1,000 miles with 50,000' climbing

    it is one of these days here, which is hotter than hell. You step outside and you think you walked into a giant hair dryer.
    You are dehydrated immediately. I did my daily spin but not fast. I usually am not the praying kind, but I will soon be praying for cooler weather.

    I decided that I will take a walking and biking challenge next month. I want to participate in a triathlon and I am good at swimming, lousy at running and too slow at biking.

    So I will alternate. One day walking, the next biking. September is usually still very hot here and I will only be able to go out early in the morning. I will try to do 50 miles on my biking days, so I am going for 750, which might be a stretch.

    Congrats to all! As it is each month, some people put up some monster numbers (you know who you are) and others put up less (some times a lot less). Everybody is a little different and you never know how much heart it took for someone to hit a lower goal (again, you know who you are). I'm amazed by some many great efforts! Seriously, blows me away.

    For those that didn't quite make it or are just getting started, a new month starts tomorrow and it also happens to be the 1st day of the rest of your life. Let's get other and make it better.

    I met my goal! This was my first month, so I set an attainable goal. I was off for a week, and still met the goal. So next month I will up my goal. For now, I am happy with having met and reaching my goal!
