    Although it is hard to do because I'm itching to ride more/harder/longer, I am sticking to plan to taper into the month's end races. My legs are starting to feel that they are jumping to go!

    August 1 - rode 11.5 miles for a duration of 00:45:20 (XC Race Warm-Up Practice)
    August 2 - rode 6.95 miles for a duration of 00:35:00 (XC pre-ride lap)
    August 3 - rode 21.71 miles for a duration of 1:52:02 (XC race)
    August 5 - rode 8.61 miles for a duration of 47:30
    August 8 - rode 44.02 miles for a duration of 2:48:46
    August 9 - rode 18.7 miles for a duration of 1:09:44
    August 10 - rode 18.5 miles for a duration of 1:19:23
    August 12 - rode 17.33 miles for a duration of 1:53:20 (mountain bike taper training)
    August 14 - rode 31.2 miles for a duration of 1:50:45
    August 16 - rode 4 miles for a duration of 00:20:00
    August 17 - rode 16.41 miles for a duration of 01:15:15 (XC Race**)
    **Goal reached in yesterday's race as I got 1st Place. And I set a new threshold heart rate value during the race which bumps up my training zones a bit.
    August 19 - rode 17.9 miles for a duration of 1:09:17 (taper rep intervals)

    August Totals: 216.83 miles for a duration of 15:46:22

    ***August Goals = race well in mountain bike races on my calendar for the 3rd, 17th, 24th, and the big "50 miler" on the 31st. That's a lot of mountain bike racing for one month meaning I will have to taper and recover as best as possible this month to pull it off.

    Seem to be getting more than my fair share of flats this month, so replacing my tires on both my city bike (some splitting) and my race bike (too many punctures and a side rip now). City bike may need to go into the shop (new bottom bracket/crankset) for a few days, but it has been overdue.

    My goal is 2,000 miles for the season which is May to October....currently 1596 miles had a great month in July logged about 650,...I am on pace to hit about the same goal in August.......might change the goal to 2,500 for the season......

    08/17 - 105 miles @ 15.8mph w/6,100' climbing
    08/19 - 63 miles @ 17.5mph w/2,850' climbing - Attempted to get some more speed on this ride.


    August Total: 603 miles and 31,900 feet of climbing


    Goal #1 for August: 400 miles with 20,000' climbing --- REACHED 08/10!!!
    Goal #2 for August: 1,000 miles with 50,000' climbing

    My goal is 2,000 miles for the season which is May to October....currently 1596 miles had a great month in July logged about 650,...I am on pace to hit about the same goal in August.......might change the goal to 2,500 for the season......

    I'm in just about the same place as you as my season also ends in mid October and my yearly goal is also 2,000 miles (with 100,000 feet of climbing) - currently at 1,460 miles (and 75,433' climbing).

    Been thinking of CricketKate and hoping she's doing okay and maybe be back even before next season.

    8/3 - 1.3 miles at less than 10mph.
    8/4 - 1.9 miles at 10.3mph.
    8/5 - 3.0 miles at 10.1mph.
    8/6 - 1.4 miles at 9.1mph.
    8/7 - 1.2 miles at 9.2mph.
    8/8 - 1.4 miles at 9.3mph.
    8/10 - 1.5 miles at 10.2mph.
    8/11 - 0.7 miles.
    8/13 - 1.0 miles.
    8/14 - 0.9 miles.
    8/15 - 2.5 miles at 10.4mph.
    8/16 - 0.5 miles.
    8/17 - 0.7 miles. Almost all of these little trips are just cool downs from mowing or other yard work/gardening - which wear me out plenty.
    8/18 - 2.9 miles at 10.2mph.
    8/20 - 0.6 miles.

    I'll be racing a much shorter XC race (20 miles or so) in hot temperatures of 92 with heat index of 105 is forecast.
