Cycled around Chiemsee - a lake over here in Bavaria - on Sunday. Apparently it is 55km, but I got terribly lost trying to find the station on the way back, so did an extra few km backwards and forwards. And with cycling to the main station in Munich and back I did about... 80km? on Sunday. Dead slow, since I am hopeless at reading maps (even when going round a lake and it *should* be impossible to get lost) and there were lots of sticks and stones and tree roots waiting to knock you off your bike at every corner. Thoroughly enjoyed it though and rewarded myself with Weissbier and Obatzda - my raison d'être ;-)
Oh my back wheel fell off yesterday, so one of those nasty sticks, stones or tree roots must have got me!
I LOVE cycling. I cycle to work every day, except in the thick of winter when it is really icy - learned my lesson in February when I fell off and the repairs to the bike cost €150.
Good luck to everyone just starting out... and well done to those who are hitting their goals!0 -
Oh I feel for you! I am always falling off my bike. Hope you are back on there soon!0

I never cycled around Lake Chiemsee, but I sailed there. I am all envious. No Weissbier and Obatzda here.0 -

Another 50+ mile ride - Great going!
If you have a smart phone you can just run the app 'Strava' and it will tell you how much climbing you did (along with a whole lot of other fun stuff!)0 -

I just have a regular cell phone, I am not into gadgets really. But I am into biking. I have a bike computer with cadence, and a heart monitor watch, so I thought I did not need GPS. Oh well, biking is a never ending money drain. .... I am trying to decide if the Garmin Edge 200 will do or if I should buy the 500. I will definitely not go over that.
Thanks for the encouragement. In the colder months I can do longer rides. But now it is already in the nineties at seven in the morning. As I am old and not very fast I cannot ride after 10 a.m. It is simply too hot and I will probably get skin cancer.0 -

I feel sorry for you. I am having actually a better month weather wise than I expected. Two days in a row it was cloudy in the morning ,we even had some very weak sprinkles of rain, but nothing to prevent me from biking.
Only by 10 a.m. the clouds are burned off and I have to go home as it gets too hot. Let me know if you find a saddle you like. I have a Selle Italia, I am pretty happy with now. First I thought it was too soft for me. Before that I rode a Bontrager saddle which was much harder and I had got used to it. But then it was stolen with my Bianchi attached.
I still think the harder saddle was better and when it gets cooler and I do longer rides I will look into a new saddle also.0 -

***August Goals = race well in mountain bike races on my calendar for the 3rd, 17th, 24th, and the big "50 miler" on the 31st. That's a lot of mountain bike racing for one month meaning I will have to taper and recover as best as possible this month to pull it off.0 -
I'm in! I have been absent from this site for a long time but finally decided to come back to see whats up and talk with other people to stay motivated and what not. This summer ive been riding pretty hard, as of the last 30 days or so... I am up to 166 kilometers in August already.. I dont know what my goal for the end of the month should be??? lets say 400km I mainly do trail and path riding on my mountain bike and like to stunt every now and then. I track all my data with S health. Good luck to everyone.0

Oh, You Fabulous Riders, I'm writing from my room at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, where I have been for the last 5 days. I have s great view of the mountain foothills and the many people taking advantage of the trails out there. Many a goal has been set for next summer.0
