College + Alcohol - How do I solve this problem?

Ok, so I'm in college, and as many of you might or might not remember college tends to involve some amount of drinking.
It does? I went to university to study, not get drunk and party.
You'll live without the alcohol, trust me. It's all empty calories anyway. And if you NEED alcohol to have a good time, then you have a bigger problem than the amount of calories it has.
Like I said it tends to, it does not have to. I have friends who don't drink and that is more considered a strong, mature choice than being "lame or uncool". I however, LIKE most alcoholic beveragesMake yourself the DD or the person who makes sure you don't get in bad situations - worked for me. I'd rather have a clear head when out with a bunch of college students because crazy things have been known to happen.
I don't have a drivers license And even if I did no one here drives to pubs or parties, we either take the bus, walk or ride our bikes.Change your major to a science major. You won't have time for drinking.
also drinking and college is an excuse.
Law school and I barely have time to sleep, let alone drink.
I am studying veterinary medicine so I already have enough on my plate Although I still have more time to spare now than I've ever had before. The hard thing when studying is not snacking while you do it! I always tell myself I deserve a treat because I'm studying and my brain needs energy...Alternate each drink with a glass/bottle of water. Heck, just walk around with water. It looks like vodka and you'll get to enjoy watching other people be drunk.
^^^^This! Especially that last part.
I'm not looking to appear to be drinking, I actually enjoy the drinking. But every other water is always a great way to go! I do try to drink lots of water when I'm drinking alcohol, but I probably need to take it to another level! Are you actually interested in drinking? I would rather spend my calories on something else (a cookie) than a few drinks, so I didn't drink much at all in college and did just fine.
You can always grab carbonated water with a lime, and no one will know the difference .
Yes, yes I am. I would take a good beer or a glass of red over a cookie any time!!0 -
I checked it out and it barely has any of the beers I usually drink
I'm guessing it's mostly American brands so it's not that helpful0 -
liquor+diet mix+run the morning after= nothing to worry about
should be able to get a decent buzz of 600 cals of liquor, thats about an hour of cardio of your choice the morning after. save up cals the day of if you want to skip the morning after run (which is admittedly alot rougher than a run the morning of).
the real issue is not eating while you drink, but thats a whole nother ballgame right there0 -

brand won't matter if you know the ABV.

there ya go.
EDIT: I don't drink anything on there either.0 -
Soda water with vodka is very low in calories.0

I go for a shot of vodka with water, ice, and a few squrits of Mio. Can't taste the alcohol at all. I'm in University now, and I'm normally dd for the reason of 'alcohol calories are not worth it'. I used to drink every week (sometimes twice a week) and now MAYBE once a month. Depends if you can find a balance and if not, depends how badly you want to be fit.0

Wow. Some harsh people on here.
Believe it or not, it is possible to maintain a social life (which may or may not include the occasional alcoholic drink) AND do well in school at the same time AND stay fit and healthy.
OP - I turned 21 this summer and I'll be starting my senior year in three weeks. I don't drink very often, but when I do it is usually a glass of wine to relax during the week days, or If I'm going to a club or to a friend's party, I'll usually have 3-5 shots of vodka, sometimes mixed and sometimes not. Of course, this was all BEFORE I started counting calories.
A lot of times plans with friends are spontaneous, so it can be difficult to plan for a drinking. When I go back to school, I'm planning on eating slightly less (about 100 calories less per day) Sun-Wed so I have a little extra for the weekends. Additionally, I'm going to have smaller/no breakfast on weekends, so I can cushion alcohol between dinner and late night snacks. That way I can minimize the negative affects of alcohol imbibing but still come in under my calories.0 -
