Hey all :)

Hope you're all having a good day. Just keen to see what music you all listen to whilst working out and if it differs to what you normally listen too. Could do with some new music/album to listen to whilst working out.

I listen to house/electro usually and whilst working out so it's usually the same.

What about you guys?

One gym I go to usually plays 1960s and 1970s radio station. The other gym doesn't have any music. I don't have an MP3 player or anything like that. At home I listen to all sorts of different music.

I mostly listen to deep house and a lot trap the dirtier the better. I love to do my intervals on the drops! That being said, I can deal with almost anything as long as it has a quick enough beat to keep me going hard. For the past few weeks I've been getting down on this new Spotify playlist: http://open.spotify.com/user/omarpena5/playlist/0uMsU3MeBJWi7x17ODPdGx

Usually I listen to a bunch of pop with a good beat. Lately I've been listening to the Welcome to Night Vale podcast, though--it's just enough of a distraction to help me push through those moments I want to quit.

I tend to be mood led most of the time. My basics are:

Any of my favourite Bocelli/Pavarotti Albums are numbers I enjoy on my last lap. It's either I programme it in, or I'll be belting it out as I run, and embarrass the heck out of my sister[training partner] lol

That might well be the most motivational music it's possible to listen to while working out! Great choice...

I listen to various 'urban' music while I'm working out. The boxing club I go to plays really loud dance music which is also great to work out to, although i can't stand it at any other time

Since I've started working out in '83, it's been whatever's been on the radio. I'm probably one of the rare people that don't use any listening device of any kind when working out. Even when doing cardio.

Sometimes I listen to whatever they play, other times, songs I got on iTunes - mostly 80s songs that were re-mixed for workouts. I have a few hipper songs, too.

    A symphony of sweat.

    Moaning, grunting, pain.
The sound of sweat, iron and bodies falling to the ground.
    The true sound of growth.

    Either rock or electronic music.

When I work with weights, I usually go for heavy music : metal or dirty dubstep.
When I do cardio (running, biking...) I usually go for faster paced music : techno, pop, punk.

I use pandora and usually choose the "Workout" station or "Zumba" station. There is something about Zumba music that gets me going... even when I'm dragging. Wish I could listen to that right now!

Depends on my moods, I'm a "rock chick" & have been for years (Up the Irons! \m/) But 2 of my faves to run to are Overseer (the DJ, NOT the band!) and Crystal Method.

However, since I started training for the duathlon, they did not allow headphones, so I had to get used to nothing. it's actually gotten to the point where I prefer nothing, and I'm a certified "music-holic"! This week is a limbo week for me (Sunday I start the next round of training for the next du!) so I put on music the other day on my bike ride & it was almost weird for me.

For running: Podcasts and lots of them.
This American Life, Dinner Party Download, The Moth, Nerdist, Radiolab, StarTalk Radio with Neil deGrasse Tyson, WTF with Marc Maron, Stuff You Missed in History Class, RISK, Curious City, The History of Rome, BBC World War One, Welcome to Night Vale.... You name it, then i'll probably want to listen to it.

For HIIT, im usually doing that between running so i take off my headphones and listen to the birds or whatever along with the beep of my tabata timer.

For home/weights/mat workouts: playlist on my spotify of everything from Bowie to GZA to Speedy Ortiz to Handsome Family to Wire.

I like to watch TV while I work out.

At the current, most of my cardio is done on the treadmill. I'm lucky enough to have a home gym so I can watch what I want
