Do we all agree that losing weight for health reasons is a good idea?

Well, some of us need to maintain or gain. And you can have an "overweight" body fat percentage while being active and healthy.

I think that we can all agree that weight can have an impact on health and we should consider that in our goals.

I think we can agree that we're all different and here for the same reason.

I think we can also agree that we're all the same, and here for different reasons.

    Agreed.

    And neither will the Bengals.

    Again.

Actually, the Bengals have made the playoffs for three straight years and four of the last five. Nice try though.

Can we all agree that 3,000 mg of sodium a day is too much?

I'm sure we can all agree on scientific things, like that you can't eat mercury in high doses.

    Past that, good luck.

Incorrect. If you eat mostly whole foods already then you don't need to cut down on processed foods. Having them in moderation will not hinder results.

Nope. I have low blood pressure. The extra sodium actually helps me out some.

An honest reply - although I'm sure some will still disagree:

Eating to lose weight (solely CICO) is not necessarily synonymous to healthy eating (paying attention to nutrients, macros etc).

EG: You can lose weight eating nothing but Twinkies and Ho-Hos.

You're not going to find anything, OP. There are people here who don't believe in CICO, and that's the most basic element I can think of.

    this. x2

Unfortunately we can't. For someone with hypertension it very well might be too much. For someone with no medical conditions, it's not necessarily detrimental to have more sodium.

Nothing. There is nothing that everyone will agree with. That's really good, because people who ask questions get a bunch of different answers and can decide which ones they think might work for them.

Everyone has to do things their own way and IMO, there is no right way.

The way that works for you is right for you.

I see you're eating Aunti Anne's macaroni and cheese tonight.

What was that about processed foods?

And no, we will never agree on anything. Some people don't even know what they personally believe in around here. "NO SUGAR" but eat fruit. Etc.

I don't think anyone is saying that blindly following calories in vs out whilst paying no attention to food choices is "healthy". But regardless of food choices, even if food choices are extremely "healthy" weight will not be lost without a calorie deficit.

    Awesome responses people!....
I love to see how it all varies from person to person

I ask because i have been on several "diets"
such as: vegan, vegetarian, paleo, juice fasts, weight loss pill (if you call that a diet, or lack there of) and the list goes on

I have such a problem feeling comfortable eating "healthy" but if i stay within my calorie limit with what i do eat I don't eat much
I never ate healthy as a kid... so i have very few "healthy" things i like
I was just hoping to get a base line of what is "normal" and go from there
Happy healthy me will come out one day!

Hey, no disappointment in January works for me! Get it all out of the way during the season.

OP - you'll find a hundred people giving a hundred answers.

Exactly - that's why I added it to the "what can we all agree on" topic :)

As I'm sure we all know there are numerous different "diets" or "healthy eating" out there...
But is there something we can all agree on from every aspect?
Can you tell me what you may think is something everyone should do and what "diet" you are on?

    I'll start
    Water and lots of it
    I don't have a healthy diet YET
    i like it.

Calories in/calories out for weight loss.
Meeting macros for energy and nutrition.
Food type and exercise is for personal preference only.
