Been busy a month but I might actually make my goal of 60 miles. We've been working with our 6 year old daughter on ditching her training wheels so several days we've traded our ride for taking her somewhere flat to practice. The 10/22 ride is her first without her training wheels. Then she did the next 2 rides with us as well. It's gonna be hard to keep up with her soon. One of my favorite things about biking is that it's something our whole family can do together.

10/5 - 1.8 miles. The wind was fun. Not.
10/7 - 3.8 miles at 9.4mph listening to Cheap Trick, Live at Budokan.
10/8 - 3.6 miles at 10.2mph listening to Joe Bonamassa's new album. Adjusted route mid-ride due to unexpected dog. Had to ride on busy highway for a short time. Ugh.
10/9 - 3.9 miles at 9.6mph listening to Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.
10/12 - 1.8 miles at a slow pace. Listened to Joe Bonamassa again.
10/14 - 2.2 miles at 9.9mph listening to GoG soundtrack again.
10/19 - 3.0 miles at 10.7mph listening to Journey.
10/27 - 3.5 miles at 10.5mph. Came across a rider who was hit by a car. He was generally okay, thank goodness, but quite banged up. Be careful out there guys and gals.
Goal for October = 40 miles.

And a picture: I started a Facebook group call Fort Worth Bicycle Picture Tag. Basically the person who's "IT" takes a picture of their bike in front of a piece of art in the city and posts it to the group. A new person becomes "IT" when they take a picture of their bike in the same spot and post it as a comment on the picture where the current "IT" posted his photo. On this morning's ride I became "IT" by taking this picture (in front of the mural the last guy took a picture with his bike)
And then took another picture with my bike in front of a new mural
The new mural is only 2 weeks old, painted during a recent local art fest.

10/8 - 3.6 miles at 10.2mph listening to Joe Bonamassa's new album. Adjusted route mid-ride due to unexpected dog. Had to ride on busy highway for a short time. Ugh.
10/9 - 3.9 miles at 9.6mph listening to Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.

Ok - 2/3 of the way to DC after taking off from Pittsburgh on my cheap walmart city commuter late yesterday morning (w. 700c x 32mm tires). Took off a bit too late to make it the whole 101 miles to Rockwood, PA before sunset, but my bike light helped me complete the last 5 miles in the dark. This morning's ride was much more fun (including an awesome 25 mile downhill from the eastern continental divide to Cumberland), but 60 rough miles on the C&O canal path this afternoon destroyed my arms & back. Another 120 miles to make it to DC tomorrow, so hoping the rain isn't too ugly and the trail smooths out.

I met my month goal today. My goal was 400 miles riding and 40 miles running. MTD: 412 miles riding + 42 miles running (7 today to finish it up). I'll pad it some this week, but I need a couple days to recover.

Hi, just joined MFP and have a bike thats been sitting in a shed for the past 10 or more years. I have had it checked over and brought a new tyre but am trying to work out how I am going to start using it as where I lived before was flat as a pancake and now I am living in the opposite. Think TdF land. I have worked out a 6 mile circuit as most of it is away from main road but there are some fierce hills near the end of the ride I fully expect to have to walk up all of the way. However I would like to think I can do it twice a week to start and think that 21miles in a month is going to be an achievement for these old bones
