Good morning everyone! Holy cow there is a lot to respond to! If I don't respond to everyone, please forgive me.
Barb - congrats on the 50 pound loss. That is HUGE and you should be so proud. Happy you are getting a car and moving out of a toxic home. As for your question about family and why they aren't what they "should" be, all I know is that mine are far from perfect, but what I can do is stay away from the family and situations that cause me stress and are no good for my family and myself, and do whatever it takes to make MY FAMILY a loving one and to work on myself so that I don't repeat the "bad" patterns that have been passed down from generation to generation. The disfunction stops HERE. That's my thinking. Luckily, I don't think my family or in laws are THAT bad. I know it could be SO much worse.
StaceyW - Congrats on getting your house!
Amy - Sorry your scale didn't budge - but it sounds like you are definitely shrinking!! I'm sure it's because muscle weighs more than fat - and you're gaining muscle!
AJ - I hear you about wanting to strangle children - well that sounds kind of harsh - maybe just wanting to GET AWAY from them for a while. ;-) I am in Oklahoma and we got lots of snow this past week 1/2 (which is NOT normal) and my kids have been out of school for 8 days!! However, it's my 15 month old that is driving me crazy mostly. I need to get out with her. She has so much energy and always is right by my side. Even when daddy gets home. I love her madly, just sometimes I just need me time and I don't get it often.
Binabodu - welcome - I am new here too. I am also doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. However, I'm only on like day 5 - and I can't ever see being ready to move past level 1. It's killer! And I hear you about grandparents never offering to watch kids. My mom is the least maternal person on earth - lives about 10 min. away - and only sees her grandchildren if we are getting together or if it's a holiday. SAD. My MIL is 85 and ADORES her grandkids - she would be asking for them often if she were able - but obviously because of her age - she's not able to. Go figure!
Katie M - Size 8 - WHOO HOOO!!
AMYPYR - Nice to meet you.
DJJW - Happy 140's!! I will be SO excited to see those! I don't have long - I'm at 152 - so soon I hope! it's been a long time since I've seen the 140's.
Holly - My dad lives 4 hours away and has never driven to see me or his grandkids. :-( Good luck at your new gym!
Katie - up 2 pounds - probably because you are working out like crazy! I'm sure it will go down soon. I need to be working out - but it's just so hard with my 15 month old. She is underfoot ALL THE TIME - and her nap is almost non existent.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Okay, well this has taken me like 2 hours to type. My toddler is such a busy body!! She is into EVERYTHING, so I'm constantly stopping to attend to her. I really really need to get out by myself SOON. I am going crazy!!! And it doesn't help that I'm having some serious PMS - which in my case = major mood swings! :grumble:0 -

hehe, I'm up two pounds because of all the processed cheese I ate on Sunday!! LOL! Sorry about the no nap, that's way too soon! I recently told my 4 year old that he needed quiet time, so he'll either sit in there and "read" or he actually takes a nap, so shocking! Since he quit naps around 2. He's my easy going one, my 2 year old is the strong willed one
Both mine are done taking naps too. At about 2-2 1/2 for both, but they still take "quiet time." 15mo is old enough to understand- after you enforce it for a couple of days. They sit and read. They also get a little bit of "cartoon time" at the tail end of it. Gets everyone a chance to have a moment....and me a workout.0 -
The only one here that gets naps consistently is my 17 month old. My 3 yo will occasionally take a nap and my 4 yo never takes naps unless he has woke up early and is just beat. I try to do the whole quiet time thing and it really doesn't work out unless I put on a movie for them then they will be quiet.
Katie~Way to go on the size 8's! It sure does boost your confidence doesn't it??
So I wanted to share my exciting news. I was saying how right now I am a sub custodian at the kids school and how I had a little bit of competition. Well they offered me the job tonight. I am very excited because this means that we can pay off our debt so much faster now. It is only 2 hours a day 5 days a week but it still is better than nothing right?? It is perfect for me because I am not gone from my kids for too long.0 -
it sure is! There is a new picture up in my photos
So happy! I'll try and get a better one on date night!

My 9 month old is trying to drop her 2nd nap, I think, and that makes me sad. I can't imagine NO nap!! Normally her first one is 2 hours, but today it was barely 1 and she was up the rest of the day. Last night was SO awful sleep-wise that we did the crib transition tonight....we figure it can't get any worse. Up until now she has been in the PnP in our room. So far she has been asleep in the crib 4 hours, but it was at 11 the trouble started last night, so we'll see.
I still got my workout in today even though I was exhausted! I think it helps, honestly. I felt more human after. And apparently hormones are going around, I started my TOM today. Which explains my lack of patience the last few days, my poor husband. It makes me nervous about weighing in this week, though!0 -

Katie, that's great! Gotta love the jobs that bring in money while allowing us to spend the quality time we need with our kids! :flowerforyou:0 -
well, i'm up rdg posts b/c ds was throwing up an hour ago. he's now asleep, and so is everyone else, and i'm awake. :ohwell:
katie--such shopping success! wtg!
katiem--congrats on the job! so happy for you!
wildcat-great getting in the workout despite the challenges!
ok...now to go surfing0 -
Good Morning Everyone!
Waking up here this morning to snow...everything is shut down (too bad ds is too young for it to matter) and dh had a 2 hour delay. Good thing, seeing as he turned off his alarm and I ended up waking him up right after his usual report time. Jumped on the scale yesterday, I am still holding strong at the same weight....a little disappointed, but I guess it could be worse. :ohwell:
Katie, congrats on the job! that is fantastic news!0 -
KatieM, congrats on the job! That's wonderful.
Stacey, sorry to hear about the pukey kid. Hope he feels better soon and you can get some rest today.
Wildcat, good for you for working out despite the exhaustion. Go you!
KC, don't stress about maintaining your weight. Have you been taking your measurements? Maybe you're losing inches but not pounds right now. Hang in there.
Z slept until 7 this morning, the neighbor's dog didn't bark before dawn like it normally does, C didn't fall out of bed at all last night -- in short, I got 7.5 hours of UNBROKEN sleep last night. Do you know how rarely that happens? I feel like a new woman. I told my husband that one of these days I'm going to get some earplugs and sleep in the basement, and just sleep until I wake up naturally by myself, just one time. Watch me try it and not be able to sleep because it's too quiet.
I'm looking to get in 2 workouts again today, and I already planned out my food for today and it looks like I'll be good on calories again, yay! I reset my goal to a little lower and so far it's working out. We'll see how things continue to go. I might have to zigzag my calories, because some days I just can't function on less than 1400, and some days I'm just legitimately not hungry enough to eat more than 1250.0 -
I don't know how you ladies keep up!
Katie- Congrats on the job! I am ready for something little to get out of the house but hubby & I decided to wait until fall when we can enroll our then 3 yo in preschool.
AJ- I am hoping to start doing 2 workouts a day after I finish the 30 DS. I plan on doing one video and then the elliptical for as long as I can stand during nap. It's going to be rough bc I am still so out of shape.
Quiet day here since the windchill is in the negatives and I don't want to get my little guy out. I need to figure out a V-Day craft for my daughter's fourth grade class for tomorrow (procrastination at it's best) and also work on some orders for my small time business. My daughter wants me to taking her shopping for tonight for a new out fit for the Bieber movie tomorrow.Ya know, we HAVE to go opening day with all her friends. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning all! I am not going to respond to everyone as I tried to do that yesterday and it took me FOREVER! Also, I have been on MFP at little too much during the day.......and today that stops!! I feel really guilty because it's time I could be spending with Zoe or HELLO......exercising!! Don't get me wrong, I don't spend HOURS on here, (but probably 1 hour!) I have never had a Facebook (am I the only one?!) because I knew it would suck me in and take up precious time I could be spending with my kids, however, I didn't think a calorie counting site could be just as addictive!! HA! SOOOOOO...... here is my plan, I will turn this on in the morning and log my breakfast, check in with my SAHM's
, give the few friends I have on here some support and that's IT! Then I'll log in at night when Derek gets home to log in everything I've eaten that day. (I tend to spend less time on here if he's home) There.....that's my plan!
I just read someones blog on here complaining about people who make excuses for not exercising and then complaining about not having the time. I mean it is really hard for me, but I'm sure it's not IMPOSSIBLE!! I usually do my DVD's (30 day shred, turbo jam, etc.) on the weekend when daddy can watch Zoe. I guess I could do it when he gets home in the evening. I had not wanted to do it that late, but if I want to rock a bikini, I'm going to have to!! SO, along with my plan to spend less time here, I plan on making exercising a priority - no excuses!!
ANYWAY.......
Holly - sorry about your not so wonderful gym orentation. Don't get discouraged. I say you save your money to buy a great new outfit for your skinny self when you get fit without the help of a trainer! You can do it!
Katie - I saw your awesome post about your weight loss - WOW - you have come so far. And I think your new picture is the one with the cute dress pants on?! You look GREAT!
KatieM - Yay for getting more hours! That job sounds PERFECT. I wish I could find something for a couple of hours a day. Just to have some extra moola, but so that I could still be here for the kids!
AJ - Oh my! 71/2 hours of UNBROKEN sleep?! What is that like? I swear my 15 month old has not slept more than a 3 hour stretch since she's been born! I do everything that I did with my first 2 kids, and they slept, I just think this is Zoe, and she's just not a good sleeper. I don't know. I can't imagine what I'd be like if I had unbroken sleep for that long. A new woman - just like you said.
WildCatMom - Good luck with transitioning to the crib!
Okay! I said I wasn't going to do that. I am turning this computer off for the rest of the day!! Hope everyone has a wonderful day and will check back in tomorrow!
One more thing............ just wondering for those who make their food diary public, do you think it helps keep you in check? I've been thinking about making mine public just to help me think twice about eating more than I should. (which I've been doing a lot lately!) Also, I enjoy checking out others' food diaries to get ideas and because I'm nosey like that!0 -
binabodu -- I'm the procrastination queen. I totally feel you there. But I'm sure you'll come up with something great! Stay warm!
Ashley, neither of my kids slept for more than an hour and a half at a time until they were 18 months old -- and since they're 19 months apart, you can guess how much sleep I got! It was awful! I can tell you that some kids just aren't good sleepers, but eventually she'll get better about it. Z still doesn't like to sleep, and sometimes gets up before dawn, but we just keep at it. Good luck! I hope you get some sleep soon!
About the food diary -- yes, it helps me think twice about what I'm eating. I log everything that passes my lips (except the occasional Hershey's kiss, but I only allow myself one when I'm under my cals anyway) and it's really helped me see my diet from an outsider's perspective. It's so easy to pretend that you don't eat junk that often when you don't have to show anybody else, but when you start realizing that hey, I've eaten junk food every day this week (or whatever habits you may have), it really helps you rein in that habit. Make it public! It's so worth it.
Off-topic, but I'm SO excited because I just figured out what to get my husband for his birthday in a couple of weeks! It's gonna be a Mario-themed birthday this year (he loves Mario). Nintendo Monopoly, Mario and Luigi slippers, and a cool tin that looks like a ? block filled with coin-shaped candy. *meep* Can't wait! Still don't know what to get him for Valentine's Day, and we're celebrating that on Saturday, so... whatever. :laugh:0 -
Ashley-I feel you on the not sleeping. My son who is now 13 didn't sleep through the night until he was 7 as in years! My younger two don't sleep through the night very often at all, usually my youngest ends up in bed with us at some point and her slightly older sister comes in as well but I'll take her back to her bed and snuggle with her there because the two of them in same bed means no where for me to sleep!
I like the idea you had about saving the money for the trainer and using it to buy new clothes (my closet is barren as it is) when I reach my goal!
My day has been off today, the girls didn't want to go to the gym again so we were going to head to the library then Lucy had a break down about not being able to take the DS in the car. She had a tantrum with screaming and crying and ended up hitting her sister in the face! So she was sent to her room for quite some time, it didn't help that she lied about what happened and kept blaming it on something else. UGH We've moved on they've had lunch and now it's time to get Julia down for a nap. Somewhere in here I need to get some exercise today. Perhaps some Zumba Dvds later.0 -
Wildcat~Try using PMS tea the week before you start your TOM. It really helps with the mood swings and water retention.
Amy~Thank you and yes it is great.
Stacey~sick children, that is never a fun thing.Thank you!
KC~I can't imagine having that much snow.
Aj~Got to love the 7.5 hours of sleep.
Binabodu~I know that feeling. It was a fight to get my hubby to agree to me going to work. I have been a SAHM for almost 11 years. He loves me being at home as much as I do.
Ashley~For me I put my diary as friends can view it and it helped me to know that they could be looking at it. I have not gotten up the "guts" to put it public.
This has taken me like an hour to post with having to go away from the comp a few times. So got to go before I go crazy.0 -
Hello everyone I am new to MFP. 25 year old SAHM mom of 3 ages 8, 4, and 1. Trying to get more active and healthy for my kids. To be here and active with them and to set a good example as well. Hope to get to know everyone here as long as the kids give me a few minutes of quiet time lol0
-
Aj—I am doing measurements as well, and I have been seeing losses there (small, but something)
KatieM—the sad thing, is that it was only like 2-3 inches of snow. For my area though, that is enough to do us in. we are not prepared for this kind of weather at all.
Holly—I was re-reading and saw about your orientation at the gym. Sorry that it didn’t go as planned. Your feelings about the trainer are the same thing I have as well…I mean, they need clients so of course they are going to tell me that I can’t go it alone and that I need a trainer.
Ashley—From what I have seen, it looks like the people who have their food diary public are able to get more feedback and suggestions when they are struggling with food. That said, I still don’t have the guts to make mine private.0 -
hi girls! i am pleased with myself overall--only some choc chips and NO cookies. i also got in 4 fr/veges which is great for me. i am planning to workout--short--after the kids go to bed.
ds was feeling fine by this am. whatever it was went thru him quick.
and did i mention that he first pooped on the potty yesterday?!! we are so happy to see him get to this milestone!!
hardly any schooling today b/c we had home inspection in am. went fairly well.
katiem--any suggestions for how to get the STINK out of the fridge?? have you ever dealt with that at the school?
dh is going to have his custodian from his office give the house a thorough cleaning--particularly the kitchen and blinds. there is a TON of grease on the granite backsplash and under the microwave. blechhh.
otherwise, house is in very good shape and we should move in beginning of april. yay!
ok, time to BE with kids. have a good night all and hope friday gets off to a FABULOUS start!0 -
WOW you ladies have been BUSY!! There is absolutely no way I could catch up now, haha. It's been a very busy week with the inlaws here, we've been running around doing all the sightseeing stuff so my exercise has not been good at all. I only worked out once so far this week and there is now 3 days were I did not log my food because we ate out. But my weight has actually gone down again & is staying there so guess I haven't been to bad. They will be leaving on Saturday so I hope to start back up then & get myself back on track. That with the fact that DS#2 started his first week of preschool this week, which he loves! Things have been crazy and I feel like it messed me up a ton. Well next week will be a fresh start, right back to my dvds and logging my food better. Then maybe I will be able to get back on here & keep up with how everyone is doing! Hope that everyone has a great Friday!0
-
Hello ladies! I didn't eat so well today. I realized while logging in my food that I ate 3 cupcakes! :noway: DH had his annual Superbowl party, so of course, there were cupcakes left over. On top of that, my daughter's birthday was yesterday, so between cupcakes for her class and then cupcakes for her Daisy Troop, we had a few more cupcakes left. At least I got in some exercise today. I ran 0.3 of a mile when I went to pick up the kids from school. I also did some of the Wii Fit tonight. DH found it on Craigslist, so it's the older Wii Fit not the Wii Fit Plus. But it seems to work well. So far it looks like my Wii Fit age is 6 years older than I really am. That's actually better than I thought it would be. DH is using the Wii Fit too, so we're having a bit of a competition on trying to knock each other out of 1st place on the different games.
Stacey - Yay for eating no cookies! And that's great about your son!! I'm 2 months behind. I knew you had moved into a new house a while ago but were renting if I remember correctly. When did you find a house to buy? Congratulations! :flowerforyou:
Christi - I have problems eating well and exercising when my parents or MIL are visiting or if we're at their places too. But that's great that you've lost weight through it! Great job! :flowerforyou:
It's almost midnight, so I'm heading to bed.0 -
Welcome Sassy! Chime in anytime you feel like it.
Stacey~ Right on with the no cookies! :drinker: I don't clean the fridge at the school. My suggestion from my home use is baking soda. Have you tried that? What is the stink from? ahhh the joys of potty training. My 3 yo was fully trained and now he was regressed.:grumble:
KC~ That is funny. If we shut down every time that we got that much snow we would be "snowed in" more than not. Where are you from?
Christi~Way to go on the loss even with being off on the week. I don't personally know what it is like to have parents over for an extended stay. I like to keep it that way though. I love family but I would seriously go nuts if I had to spend that much time in my house or any other house for that matter with my parents or the IL.
Amypyr~Don't feel bad about it. Just move on from it. I ate 3 freakin' biscuits for dinner plus gravy AND a dang brat!I didn't go over my calories but I BLEW it with the sodium. Now I have a big fat headache from all the sodium. Serves me right though.
Well I got something interesting to share (at least I find it to be). I was asked by my sup today if I would be interested in taking over his hours next Thurs and Fri (he is going out of town) plus the Fri (he is working the day shift) after (5 extra hours per day). Well his wife had told me that when he told her that he was going to ask me if I would take them she had asked him "well why are you asking her instead of the other guy?" His response was "because she is fast and if any one can get it done she can." I didn't think I was that fast but apparently he does and is impressed with me enough to ask me to take on more responsibility. I am torn right now because though it means more money that goes towards us getting our bills paid it means more time away from the kids.:ohwell: Plus it would mean that I would need to find someone to watch the kids for me on those first two days because the hubby's schedule is filling up so he won't be able to. So very tired need to go to bed I will check in tomorrow.0 -
Good morning, Ladies!
Welcome all newcomers that I may have missed! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Today for the first time in a while, should be actually a non-busy bee day. All I have to do today, is drop off some pictures I ordered for my mom that finally came in, then meet a friend for a painting she did for my lil guy for his bedroom, and then come home and stay home for the rest of the day, unless hubby comes home.
Got on the scale this morning, and no weight loss or gain, so I'm happy with that!
Whenever I cleaned out our fridge, when we lived on our own, I always use baking soda in both the fridge and freezer to keep all smells away, and I was pretty good about keeping that thing clean, unlike my MIL who NEVER cleans it, and her fridge has red kool aid stains all over it, sticky stuff (I have no clue what it is) on the bottom shelves, the last time I was looking for something in there, way in the back was some nasty, gross science experiment growing with mold and who knows what else....
Well, that's about it for now, will check back in later. Have a great day ladies!0 -
Sassy ~ Welcome to the group!!
Amy ~ Welcome back! I was just thinking about you the other day! LOL
Stacey ~ We are also sorta potty training. My first was so much easier...must be all the undivided attention I could give him ;-P Doesn't help that Carter so strong willed! Oh well, 4 months until he is 3, hoping to have him into undies by then! LOL
Fridge cleaning, I really like using Lysol's lemon scented anti bacterial cleaning stuff...smells goodThen stick a box of baking soda in both the freezer and fridge and you should be good to go
Tonight we are going on a double date...Italian food and Jeff Dunham...I'm soooo excited!! I planned on today as being my big calorie day (2100) I am also planning on working out twice, once in the morning, once mid afternoon. I am also back down to 143 (Weighed in at 146 on Monday) So hopefully I don't blow it tonight! I'm going to try to be good...but ugh, I love Italian food! So far, zig zagging has worked for me...excited to see what the scale looks like on Wednesday!0 -
Glad to hear I'm not the only one having troubles potty training!! Mine will be 3 soon and he JUST WON'T.
Having a busy day of cleaning and getting ready for a birthday party this weekend. Think that I might start cleaning out my closet today....not sure if I'm ready for possible disappointment. But with a vacation with summer close needed , if I have to replace a bunch of stuff, I will have to start scrapping for the money now. SO wish me luck.0 -
I'm trying really hard to have a positive attitude today but it's just not working. I don't feel like eating anything, but I'm trying to force the issue anyway. We went to playgroup and nobody else showed up, and while I *know* it wasn't personal, I'm having a hard time not taking it personally. I have a bad habit of thinking people don't like me, even when I know it's not true. Blah. Stupid depression. I don't want to work out, I don't want to do housework, I just want to sit and read or go back to bed. I hate when I have days like this. I know it's only temporary, and tomorrow will probably be better, but still, I hate it.
Gonna get C in a few minutes, and then make myself eat lunch and then work out. Maybe I'll feel better after I get moving. And if not, at least I'll be able to say I tried.0 -
Geesh! I'm really irritated - I just typed out a (kind of) long post and then my computer died and I lost it all!!! I am not going to type it all again!!
AJ - I'm so sorry you are feeling BLA - I am having major mood swings - because my TOM is about to be here. Which by the way, I had 2 last month, so I'm hoping this isn't something that is going to happen again this month. I have a really hard time with mood swings and cravings right before TOM, and 2 times in 1 month kills me as far as trying to lose weight.
Katie - Yay for the scale going down and I hope you have lots of fun on your date night with hubby. I am going to have a date night soon - and I've picked italian also!! I don't think I'm even going to worry about calories that night.
Well, my toddler is getting into everything - so I will just say good morning girls and hope everyone has a better day than I'm having!!
Ashley0 -

So I went through my closet. After being able to bag tons of fall and winter stuff in the last month I KNEW my spring and fall stuff was going to put me on cloud 9 !!!! But noI'm feeling so down I can't even see straight. I've lost 14 lbs since last spring! over 3" just in my waist, but why...why do none of my clothes fit??? My love handles lay over everything like a deflated balloon! I can't go around looking like that! Let alone go to vacation and not worry about all the pictures being taken of me looking like a flabby fool!!! And fact of the matter is we DO NOT have the money to be buying me a new attire.......I don't know, just don't know.:frown:

Barb~I got to say that is absolutely disgusting! I am not so sure I would be okay with a fridge looking like that.
Katie~have fun on date night.
Aj~Sorry to hear that you are feeling down. Hope that you get feeling better soon. Try getting some sunlight if possible.
Ashley~Try some PMS tea the week leading up to TOM. Works really well.
DJ~ I am sorry to hear that you had some clothes trouble. That is never a fun thing. I hope you get feeling better soon.
Got to go have a HOT date. :laugh:0 -
Katie, we don't keep our food in THAT fridge, THANK GOD!!! We have our own fridge down stairs with us....after I saw that I was totally grossed out, I guess I should have mentioned that! Opps!
Does anyone have any special VDay plans? I can't wait to post pics of my VDay outfitI think I look pretty good looking, if I do say so myself, lol. Can't wait to share

Hello ladies! Just checking in for the night. I did the Wii Fit again tonight. I also ran/walked to get the kids from school today. I did eat a little better than yesterday. I was ONLY over by 1150 instead of the 1530 from yesterday. :grumble: I've got to get better on my eating. Things should get better once we get all the cupcakes and now cake out of the house. We're having dd's birthday party tomorrow. I'm hoping to be able to post better after the weekend. I did challenge myself to post something each day. I noticed that when I was losing weight before, I was also on here more often. Hope everyone has a great weekend!0

  Woo hoo!! bluerose9483 lost 1.2 pounds since her last weigh-in! She's lost 51.4 pounds so far. In 3 days, I lost 1.2 lbs and I'm not sure how I did it, because I've been eating out those three days and keeping very busy, only been doing the walking and house cleaning for exercise.....I'm not sure if I'll make my Feb. goal since Feb is so short, and we're half way done already and I'm just not hitting my 170......but I'm happy with the weight loss so far! :bigsmile:0
