KatieM—in the Hampton Roads area of VA…near the beach  Give us a hurricane and we are good to go, snow…you’ve got to be kidding.

Aj—Sorry your playdate didn’t work out. I really hope that your day yesterday got better and that you have a great weekend!
    Bluerose—Congrats on the loss!

No true valentine’s day plans here. Have a busy day today with swim lessons, a playdate and a church event later on tonight. I do hope to do some Valentine’s Day crafting with my son though….at some point.

My Grandma lives close to you in Norfolk. They don't handle snow well.

No Valentine's plans here either. Heading off to Zumba class here in a little while though.

    Barb-congrats on the loss!

Pesky left over treats, can you send them to work with you DH?

Hi sassy - I'm new here too.

Great job on the loss blue rose!

I am hoping our V-Day plans don't include chocolate and bad food. Hubby likes to plan! I do have lots of "plans" that will effect my eating for the next week. Last night we went to one of my favorite restaurants with a big group of daughters/moms for the Justin Bieber movie. I did order my favorite meal but boxed half of it. I am sure I still went way over (nutritional information is not available) but I did way better than I used too. Tonight we are staying in a big suite with some of our best friends and their kids at Great Wolfe Lodge. Hotel eating for 3-4 meals is not going to be good I am sure.

So do people know you guys are "dieting"? I am a bigger girl and have tried dieting many times in the last 10 years with temporary results. This time I feel different about it and I think I have the right tools & mindset but I am still not sure I want people to know. Only my hubby has noticed my weight-loss and until people do, I don't really plan on telling them. I don't want people watching everything I eat without knowing the "whole" picture (exercise and other food choices). How do you guys feel about that?

The only thing we're doing for Vday is, since the actual day falls on Monday and hubby works Monday night, we're going out Sunday night to a nice restaurant and that'll be it, just the two of us. Nothing to special, but we're thinking about trying a new place to go, there's a couple of on the "fancier" side restaurants we might check out, then I'll post some new pics in my VDay outfit

bina--i agree with not mentioning it. i know i'm not looking like much of a poster child for myfitnesspal and don't want the extra judgment/pressure.
it's also why i don't make my diary public. too much pressure for me.
i'd say, just keep doin what you're doin--the lbs are coming off!

    barb, congrats ont he loss!
katiem--that's wonderful that your supervisor thinks so highly of you. :drinker: as for the dilemma, maybe take some of the time offered but not all....would that be a good compromise? also, if it's a regular thing, that is, where you are constantly being offered more hours, you can reassess. and you can simply say, that altho you are flattered/appreciative/etc of the opportunity, you'll have to say no for now as it really doesn't jive w/your family's schedule. or someth. like that.

thanks for all the support on the cookies.
so i don't tarnish my reputation---i'm not going to discuss my costco purchases (and eats) here. just movin on.:frown:

got my workout in and now off to shower. have a great saturday!!:flowerforyou:

I'm trying really hard to have a positive attitude today but it's just not working. I don't feel like eating anything, but I'm trying to force the issue anyway. We went to playgroup and nobody else showed up, and while I *know* it wasn't personal, I'm having a hard time not taking it personally. I have a bad habit of thinking people don't like me, even when I know it's not true. Blah.
I went through something similar last week, the moms group thing is like a roller coaster sometimes! Plus I was hormonal and over all a mess. Ugh.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a kid who doesn't (or didn't) sleep! Though I have to say the crib seems to be making things better. The first night she put herself back to sleep 3 of 4 times. The second night she only woke once, but was up for the day at 4 AM  Last night was the best so far....she was up until 10 because we missed her first sleep window (stupid grocery shopping), but she slept through to 7 this morning! :drinker:

Lost 2 more lbs this week, I can't wait until that ticker says 10

We were going to go to IHOP (with the kiddo) tomorrow night for our V-Day, avoid crowds, but I forgot I was working this weekend. So maybe we'll go an evening next week. We did get each other one chocolate - he got a chocolate covered Twinkie and I decided to try the Devil Dog. Guess I'll be spending extra time on the treadmill Monday!

    Barb, yay on the loss!

Bina, I don't just go around with a sandwich board advertising that I'm doing this, but I don't hide it either. My mom and sisters and husband know, and before the Facebook connectivity crapped out for the site I was posting my losses to FB. I don't know if anybody will ever notice, and I'm ok if they don't. It doesn't matter to me.

    WildCat, yay on your loss!

I know I've missed people -- my memory sucks! Sorry. :(

We did our VDay stuff today. Nothing major, just headed over to Sioux City for lunch at Olive Garden and some shopping. We didn't buy anything except some shoes for Z. On sale at Target for $4.26! Couldn't pass those up! I did all right on my cals, and with my workout I was only 24 cals over for the day. I would have been under if I had drank a second cup of coffee instead of that Dr. Pepper... but it was sooooooo good.

Hope you guys have a wonderful Sunday! Enjoy your VDay plans if you have them!

Bina~I don't "advertise" it but it is kindof hard to hide it too. The hubby knew what I was doing from the start because that is how I am, he knows everything there is to know about my life and what I do. Others have noticed the difference though. So far in one year I have gone from a size 16 (fitting tight) to a size 8 (loose fitting). I also wanted to say that for me this is not a "diet" because to me "diet" says that you are only going to do it short term until you lose what you want. I am changing how and what I eat so for me this is a lifestyle change. I am so tired of my body feeling the way it does when I eat the junk. Like Friday I ate a donut (first time in several months) and my body rejected it. Then that night went to my cousin's wedding reception and what did they have there?? Yep you guessed it donuts so I ate one being the stupid idiot that I am. Got a stomach ache with 10 minutes of eating it. My body does this to me for so many things that I know to be bad for me so for me I have got to change what I eat so that I can function properly.

Barb~Way to go on the loss.

Stacey~ That is a good idea. This time I am going to take the hours. We are hurting right now financially and I don't want to pass this time up. I have got some of the daycare figured out for them. My MIL is going to drive 2 hours to come watch them for us on Friday and a good friend of mine is going to watch them for about 4 hours of the time on Thursday. So I am hoping that it works to where the hubby can be home for the other 3 hours. This kind of thing doesn't happen that often, I am friend's with my supervisor's wife so I know that is doesn't because we talk a lot about his job. It would maybe be about 1 time a month that he would ask for one day. That isn't too bad.

We don't have any Vday plans at least not that the hubby has told me. Well the other day I was commenting on how I prefer my family to be at a distance because of the drama. Well I think that I am being tested here. My MIL came to watch the kids for us on Friday so that we could have a date night. Well for a while now she has been telling us that she wasn't happy in her marriage. Never has given us details other than she has said that he is abusive with how he talks to here. Well we got some more insight (I think it was because I asked more pressing questions that she couldn't lie to). We realized that this is a situation that she needs help out of and like NOW. Very bad situation that she has gotten herself into. Well with that being said like me and the hubby do on all important decisions we took it to the Lord to ask for guidance. We feel that we need to open our home to her so she can get out. So for a time she will be living with us. I am a little nervous about it but I know it is the right thing to do. Wish me luck. Hope you guys have a good rest of the weekend.

KatieM, sorry to hear about your MIL's marital troubles. Good for you for taking it to God. Prayers for her, and for you guys. We should all be so blessed as to have family so willing to open their homes when we need help!

As it says in my signature, I decided that my present to myself for my 30th birthday is abs. I've never had them, even when I was underweight, which seems ridiculous to me. So I have no idea if it's feasible to get rid of this belly fat by the end of August, but I'm going to try. I figure if I don't *quite* have abs by my birthday but I'm making progress toward that end, I'll consider it a win.

Crossing finger, toes and limbs that we are on the mend. :) Plan on trying to workout today but if I get too tired I'll stop. I hate not being able to work out. Maybe I can find a slow paced one on On Demand.

Barb - Great outfit, glad you and hubby got to have a nice dinner out.

Uh oh just heard that girl scout cookies are for sale now, those are so naughty but so good. Help!!

Yeah, AJ, I am definitely not hiding it. Just not advertising it. My hubby, of course knows (he's doing MFP too!), my mom and 3 best friends all know but all my other girl friends, PTA moms, family don't know. I go out with my daughter's friends moms usually once a week and am watching what I eat and drink around them. I know it's going to be a matter of time before they "notice" or start asking and I don't know why, but I am just not comfortable letting everyone know.

Katie- Congrats on the 16 to 8. That's what I am working toward, maybe in a year. :) I am trying to make it a lifestyle not "diet" as well. I think that is why it is so hard for me. I have Starbucks once or twice a week with girlfriends or I'll have a margarita at dinner with PTA moms and I don't want people to look at that and think "Well she isn't working that hard if she is having that." I know eventually when they can see what I am doing is working I will feel more comfortable sharing my lifestyle changes with other.

    Anyway, thanks for the opinions.

4loveofkids- Sorry about your kiddos. Hope they are feeling better.

Barb- You look fantastic! Such an inspiration!

Once again, the queen of procrastination is getting hubby and kiddos V-day surprises today (w/ my 2yo) and more sewing. :) I am going to do my 30 day shred & try and go for a walk with my kids today since we are above 50's finally!! Hope you all have a great day!

Amy, don't push yourself too hard. Maybe just some stretches and a little light cardio today. If you can do more, do it, but don't overexert yourself. Your body's still healing.

Bina, I didn't get anybody anything for VDay. The kids and I are going to go to the greenhouse and buy a rose and take it to hubby's office, but that's it. We don't make a big fuss about it around here, other than going out for dinner. It's going to be nice here again today, so we're going to walk up to get C from school, then walk over to get the flower and go to the office (it's all within a couple blocks of the school) and then walk home. We walked so much yesterday that Z said his legs are sore, poor thing. But he still wants to walk, and I figure it can only help work out the soreness. It's going to stay warm until Friday, so we're going to take a walk every day until then.

    Have a great day everybody!
