10 miles. Woot! I think the bath I took last night after was the best idea I've ever had tho. Legs are SORE today but not as bad as I thought they would be.

I live in the Northern Shenandoah Valley (VA) so hiking is at my finger tips at all times, but I love the trails in GW National Forest the best - free with beautiful overlooks. I also love Harpers Ferry WV.
My ex is from WV... not sure I would hike out there. Have you SEEN Wrong Turn?

Haha! Yes I have seen it and believe me there are plenty areas in WV that I refuse to get out of the car in, but Harper's Ferry is a National Historic Park so it's relatively safe from inbreds. Hahaha!

I got in this one this weekend...It's also one of my favorites. My friends and I brought a bottle of bubbly for the overlook - good times.

    That's awesome (and adorable) Chrizzle.

I got some new pics up on my deviant art page from my 10 mile hike on Sat. Not that I'm trying to advertise. I hurt today but I love it.

Let's see pics of your terrain.

Actually have a couple of pics in my profile from a winter hike we did in January, which was in the same general area that I was in last weekend. The pics are from a landmark down in Hocking (Old Man's Cave, mostly) and I was in one of the parks just north of the area last weekend.

I love photography! I even shot a wedding once! But my favorite things to photograph are lansscapes and city scapes. I do love taking pictures of my children, but usually I think people tend to clutter up the surroundings and make it look untidy! :blushing:

My favorite place to hike use to be at Bear Mountain in New York but I live in Florida now so any State park will do now. But now nearly as much fun as mountains!

Lol. I'm not so great at taking pictures of people, at least not posed or anything. I'm decent at spontaneous pictures of people, but I definitely tend more towards nature and architecture. I love macro and fun detail and texture in photos.

I know how you feel, I'm in Ohio and there aren't too many places to go beyond the state parks. There are some pretty nice ones but I've been spoiled ever since spending a couple of weeks in the summer in Colorado near Estes Park a few years as a teenager.

That pic was taken at Old Man's Cave in Hocking Hills, OH. Was really cool fun but a bit slick. Reminds me, I should put a couple more pics form out there up.

Aw, that makes me homesick for Ohio again. I live in LA and hike in the Glendora Mts. I like to take pics of my cats being silly and of the mountains.

Time for y'all to channel your inner Ansel!
  • I'm a photography nut!

Usually I "specialize" in landscape, nature and animal photography; although I do have a few portraits in my gallery as well.

I have a public garden near me that I tend to take my camera to; as well as being fairly close to the beach and the central gardens where I tend to bride the local wildlife (squirrels, mainly) to pose for me

I love going on random walks with my camera and just shooting whatever catches my eye. I love nature and hiking with my camera, but I also love the challenge of finding hidden beauty in urban landscapes.
  • finding hidden beauty in urban landscapes.

    THIS.

My husband told me once that I can make beauty out of nothing which was a huge compliment
My camera pretty much comes everywhere with me, just in case I spot something from a mile away that needs me to take about 50 photos of it from every conceivable angle!!

I need inspiration for my digital art though, I'm lacking :indifferent:

I take so many pictures it's insane. Lol. Then I end up picking 2 or 3 for every 20 I take that I actually like. My digital SLR is the best thing that ever happened to me, I used to spend so much money developing film. :P

I used to use anything from my own photos to books and images around me for my digital art. Was an illustration major that used primarily computer programs as my medium.

    Same here, lol
I'd love an SLR camera (and a WACOM tablet as well!)
I went out on Wednesday for a killer walk (literally killer, I felt like I was gonna die  ) and took about 60 photos.
    About a dozen got kept.
There were a lot of squirrel butts

My digital art is dark/fantasy/Gothic styled. I love Photoshop though, I'm an addict!
Sometimes I get inspired by music; but for about a month I've just not been able to put anything together.

I'm so overly critical of my photography it's a bit ridiculous. Some pictures I liked before I look at now and think. I could have done better.
  • ^ oh how I know how you feel.

If there's one teeny tiny thing wrong with a photo I've taken or a digital piece I made I WILL find it and either make it right or scrap the whole thing.

My own worst critic; but then I think that's a good thing because to my mind it means nobody else can criticize me worse than I do already

*sigh* I miss my WACOM tablet so much. Lol. I had one when I worked in a photo studio. I love Photoshop too and Painter.

    @ squirrel butts.

    Lucky you - I'm jealous!!
I so so want a WACOM, but my poor little camera is on it's last legs (serious overuse over the last 3 years!) and I need that before anything else!

Lmao, the squirrel butts were cute (well, as cute as a fuzzy butt can be!) but really not what I was trying to get in the shot!
I did manage a couple of awesome shots that I was pretty happy with, though so I won't complain about the butts too much, lol.

Unfortunately it was for work, so I don't have it anymore. I have a dream list of computer supplies for setting up my digital studio when I make my millions. I actually just bought a new camera, I got a Canon XSi. I LOVE IT!

That's half the battle, take 50 and hope for 5 great ones.
