Hello Everyone!
This is a group that isn't from a certain age group, weight range, height...and so on! Not that this is a bad thing! I just wanted something different! We all have so much to offer regardless of where we are at in our journey and I just love all of the people I've been blessed to meet on this site!
You may join this thread under the following circumstances:
* You are an age. It doesn't how old!
* You weigh something. It doesn't matter what!
* You are a gender. It doesn't matter which one! (We prefer no alien presence but if you are really excited about joining we will take it to a vote!
* You want to check in every day to every couple of days to vent, encourage and chit chat!
If you are new and joining all we ask is that you introduce yourself with your name and goals! I want us to be able to talk about what we are striving towards, ask advice, vent and just chit chat! We all have things to offer one another! Generally we do a QOTD (Question of the Day) and this keeps the conversation fun and different! ) Feel free to ask one! )
We started a goal list last month even though we began this group half way but I don't think I have everyone's goals on it. Monthly goals are important and we can all hold ourselves accountable for them!! If you have posted before just comment on your February goal, how you did and then add on with a March goal! )
Mandi - Drink 64 oz of water a day (That's hard for me), Finish my C25k training and then start playing with speeds, Make my 120 mile challenge by Valentine's Day
Shinemaria - start exercising on purpose - at least 3x a week for 30 minutes
Sara - Get under 147, so only 3 lbs for the month, but it's manageable and the protein and training should help. Work on running longer times, specifically run for at least 20 minutes without stopping. And to look fabulous for Valentine's Day with Randy
just_peachy - Get under 160, Average 12 miles/week, Get through Level's 1 & 2 of 30DS
Ruth - Hit the gym at least 6 times a week including at least 2 days of strength training
Robyn - My February goal is to stay where I'm at if not a little less by my birthday (Feb 25th) - after that I plan to do the 30DS again with more gusto and with some cardio time included
Truhvn - get my Turbo Jam in the mail (should be any day now) and hit it at least 5 days a week. I'd also like to get to my 3rd mini goal of 155 within the next two weeks as I haven't quite hit it on my goal date

I basically didn't even make a goal for February except to survive. It was a rough month! Here is to a much better month!
TaraMaria - Run 3-4 times a week, visit the gym 2-3 times a week, continue ab routine every other day0 -
This month I am doing a planned plateau and upping my calories to my maintenance amount. I am going to concentrate more on strength training then weight loss.
I pretty much met my goal for last month. Any week that I only went 5 instead of 6 days I always went 7 days the next week so it evened out.0 -
Well, I still haven't been able to drink 64 oz of water a day consistently. I DID get through my C25k training in 8 weeks instead of 9 and now I am playing with speeds! I didn't get my 120 miles by February 14, but I DID keep logging until I finished which was the end of last week!
March goals- continue running 3x per week at least to be ready for my 5K in May. (Hopefully start running outside when the weather is nice enough!), I want to make weight goals, but with my BF percentage, it never goes the way I want it to, so I'm refraining from disappointing myself. drink 64oz of water, and get back to strength training 2x a week. Some weeks it's a little slack for me!
Welcome March!!0 -
I'm going to work on arm exercise. I really want to wear tank tops this summer (and look good :-)).0
-
I did not join you guys back in Feb but I am here now!~ I am Jama I am a full-time student, stay at home mom and part-time Nurses Assistant. I have 2 goals for this month, to stay organized ( trying ChaLean's 30 Day Challenge) to help me stay on track!0
-
Last month I spent training for my first race (coming up this Saturday!!!) 300 m swim and a 3 km run. I'll let you all know how it goes
My goal this month is to improve my eating by eating out less. At the beginning of the year I really wanted to do this. Well, I really failed in this area. There are alot of reasons for this but the bottom line is that it did not happen. It's important for my physical and financial health. My hubby and I have decided to make Fridays (also date night) the one night a week that we go out to eat. Also, until the weather improves, there may be some breakfasts out prior to preschool (this has to do with being a one car family). Really, I can't wait until spring arrives!!!
So for Rae: eat out less.0 -

ok...so I would like to join in with you all!
Im 30 (31 this month on the 16th)
my over all goal is to be between 160-180 i would be happy at that weight, happier if its less.
my goals for this month are
drink at least 80oz of water a day (i used to do 100oz)
be up to exercising in some way at least 2 times a week by the end of the month
and to lose 5lbs
im starting small for this month. I have an ortho appt on the 16th as the last time i tried to start walking (the best cardio out there) i pulled a muscle in my back. i need to get the ok to start again and find ways to help my back so i don't cause any more injuries.
ive been on the site for a while but just started back yesterday this is my first official day posting on the boards. Im so happy to be here and see all the friendly people.
i look forward to getting to know you all!0 -
my goal for this month is to exercise 5xs a week and include strength training 3xs a week0

Well, looks like my February weight goal is going to become my March goal. I'm still at 150, so I spent the whole month at the same weight. But things are looking better now that I have an inhaler for working out. And I definitely had a fabulous Valentine's Day with Randy. We're past the 4 month mark now I also have run for 25 minutes without stopping, and I'm gonna really focus on my running this month. My goal is an under 40 minute 5K. I was at 48 minutes last night and I was walking quite a bit, so I think I could manage to shave 8 minutes off of my time.
March Goals:
Get under 147 (this month I'm gonna do it!), run/walk a 5K in under 40 minutes on the treadmill, and get outside more (especially with Randy) since the weather is getting better!0 -
February- I did really well with Insanity. I did it every day except for the rest day.
March- Still continue Insanity. But I really need to work eating healthy. I don't know why I am having such a hard time with it. Especially on the weekends. So this month my goal is to really work on eating healthy and also increase my water intake. I drink enough. I drink about 12 cups on average but I think it would help me to drink some more while Insanity so I want to increase it to 16 cups.0 -
I really want to get under 150 this month!0

Well welcome newbies! Can't wait to get to know you better! Those are all great goals! I've been trying to think of a random question for today.
Maybe it's just me, but when I was little I always wanted to be a back-up singer. Weird? I know. Why wouldn't you want to be the headliner, the main event? Well, because I don't like attention, but I LOVED to belt out a tune even though I wasn't good at all. (My husband WILL plug his ears when I start to sing). Anytime I am in the car now, especially by myself, I just belt out any tune that's on. Part of me, even though it's obviously quite unattainable, still has that childhood "dream". SO......
QOTD: What was your childhood dream and did you accomplish it?0 -
My childhood dream, you mean the one where I married Donnie Walberg?! Nope on that one! I actually had to big dreams through childhood, one was not to be the chubby friend and the other was to be a teacher. In a sense I have achieved both. I actually went to a teaching college for 2 years, but determined that teaching wasn't really something I wanted to do 5 days a week for 9 months out of the year, but I have 2 beautiful children I teach things too, and I also have a Sunday school class that I teach. And finally I am not the fat or the chubby friend, and really I wasn't really the chubby friend until I was in my Junior year of hs, I was at a healthy weight, I just saw all these people between 100-120 pounds and thought that is where I should be too, and then down and depressed about it I would eat a snickers as an adult, i wouldn't mind a hs reunion ( my class has unsuccessful not out one together we graduated in 1998). And not b/c I am no longer chubby ( I weigh what I did as a junior!) but b/c I feel more confident in my body! And I probably am in the best shape of my life ( even though push ups are still hard for me, I can run a 9.5 minute mile(11 in high school).0

I love this group!! Randomly connecting!! I'd love to check in with you all!!
The 'who am I' part is: I'm Reese. Mom to 2 beautiful boys. Wife to handsome hubby of 5 years (6 in may!). Social Worker by Day. And notorious homebody by night. I'm here to lose 15-20 pounds that I've been putting on since I settled into my comfortable home life with the family.
As for the random question: My sister will tell you that I went from 10 to 30 years old. So my childhood dream involved building a house near my parents. They own a bunch of land around them and I wanted to build this quaint little house under this beautiful weeping willow tree with a stream that runs in the backyard. I would lay under that tree and imagine what the house would look like, what my husband would look like, and all the fun things we'd do living in the country. Now...I have the wonderful husband and the beautiful children BUT we do not live in the beautiful country. To some people, you probably wouldn't consider the small suburban are we live a 'city' but by definition it is a city! And it feels like a city to me. :grumble: I never wanted to leave that darn little town I lived in. The one where I graduated with a whooping 42 kids, and that was 2x as many as the year before!! Luckily we don't live that far away because my parents still live on that piece of land so it's great for the kids to visit regularly and get to enjoy! My husband is an active member in our community and a coach at the local high school so we are pretty ingrained in our 'city' so there won't be any returning to my little dream house. But it was fun imagining!!0 -
Oh and my goal right now is to cut out the Diet Pop. I've gotten down to 2 a day. And skimming that back this week as well. I've up'd my work out from 4 to 6 now. Want to stick with that, the more often I go during a week the easier it becomes to stick with the routine.0

I'm loving these responses already! I love randomness!0

QOTD: What was your childhood dream and did you accomplish it?
I had several childhood dreams one was to have 22 children , everyone told me yeah right and well I didnt quite succeed but if you count my kids and all the foster kids we had I parented 19, LOL. but I ended up with 7
I wanted to become a model and I did do some modeling when I was in high school for a local dress shop
and I wanted to become a social worker and help abused children and while I didnt become a social worker and have helped abused children though fostercare and adopted 3 of them , so I am still helping children that have been abused in a sense.0 -
QOTD: What was your childhood dream and did you accomplish it?
I was a total space nerd when I was a kid, and that hasn't changed one bit since I grew up. However, I used to want to be a bit closer to the Moon than I currently am. Yep... I wanted to be an astronaut! Then I got on an airplane when I was 9 to go to Disney World and I was terrified out of my mind and motion sick, so that dream went out the window and I had to settle for someone who just looks at the moon, so I switched to astronomer. Once I realized in high school that I was good at designing and math and stuff, I changed it to aerospace engineer, which is what I am today
I think I'm one of the rare people out there that had their life figured out at age 70 -
Well you all put my back up singer idea right to shame. Hahahaha! I did, however, become a teacher, get married, have kids, all the "normal" stuff. Those were all in the works when I was little too!0

I wish I had something creative that I dreamed of when I was little. Either I didn't dream big or my memory is lapsing. When I read about your back up singer dream, I racked my brain thinking...what was the biggest dream I had?! Who did I want to marry? Where did I want to be at 28? And I couldn't remember anything but that darn weeping willow tree! LoL.0 -
I didn't really have a childhood dream but I don't think I wanted to be like this. I wanted to have grand adventures not stuck in a cube all day.0
-
I admit, I really had to think about this one--I guess I am getting old.
Anyways, I had some funny ones.
I wanted to be an astronaut and had incredibly vivid dreams about it. Though I did not do this, I do have a science degree.
I wanted to be a nun. This did not happen--I have a husband and two beautiful children. However, I served on a missions team for about a year in my early twenties. I hope to do more missions work in the future.
I wanted to be a hudderite--we visited them once and I thought it seemed cool. This is probably the most absurd to me since I am a city girl and would not want to live on a farm at all! However, I do appreciate nature and I was a camp counsellor for 3 summers.
So, in a way these desires have been fulfilled--even if they weren't the way I thought they would be.0 -

QOTD: Hmmm....I get many things from my mom. Her selflessness, her stubbornness, her love, etcf. I get my Type B personality from my dad. It takes a lot to get me worked up. I'm pretty flexible like him. Physically, I'm my dad. Neither of them are skinny, but my mom's side of the family is proportioned a little differently which makes it very hard for them to lose weight. They carry things in their butt, legs, and arms and have a smaller waist. I'm glad I'm built like my dad because I'm small(er) everywhere else and need to lose in my middle section. And even though my husband doesn't "count", having lived with him for over 6 years, I feel like his best qualities have started to trickle down to me. So thanks hubby!0
-
QOTD: If you ask my family, they'd say I'm most like my Mom. I have a lot of her qualities but I wish I had a lot more! My mom is always the 'hot breakfast' on the table or a good lunch pal packed before everyone gets up mom, the epitome of reliability as a wonderful mom and excellent wife. I'm a lot more spacey! Some days I'm on my game but my kids won't be expecting a hot meal every AM at 730. Maybe I'll grow into that as they get older. I tend to go with the flow more. If it's a busy day, I concentrate on what can be tackled so that AFTER we get home things are easier. My mom's also a great cook. I rotate the same 8 meals out! I'm working on it though...I've started to realize that alot of the wonderful things that I love about my mom and about my mom and dad's relationship are things that developed as our family grew. What I saw as a perfectly balanced home life came after years of their experimenting and working together on it. Sometimes it's hard to remember admist the craziness of life but I'm sure we'll get there!! I'm built more like my Dad though. He's 6'1 and a more athletic build were as my mom's probably 5'3 and petite.0

Wooo, I'm here! Just realized we'd moved boards!
Goal for March = breaking this plateau I've been stuck on. The weather is getting nicer, so hopefully that happens - I'm REALLY trying to break the 200s before holiday in August and I've been stuck fluctuating from 224-226 for about a month. I'm desperate to shake it up but my toddler hangs off my leg every time I try to exercise in the house, so with the nice weather starting to peak out I'm thinking we can get outdoors and get movement in that way!0 -
no change in the scale this week. It is that time of the month GRrrrrr so hopefully next week I will see a big change......Have a great weekend everyone and get in some exercise
QOTD: Who in your "family" do you take the most after? mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandparent, close family friend??????
I look like my dad but have more of my moms personality. My mom is only 4'11 and about 110 lbs blonde hair , blue eyes, I am 5'6 197 lb brunette, hazel eyes, everyone always thinks that my mom is my husbands mom and when I was growing up people were always surprised when they met my mom. She loves to clean though and cleans when she gets nervous. I wish I would have got this trait instead of turning to food when I get nervous.0 -
QOTD:
Good lordy that's a hard one. I'm kind of unique in my family. No one else is really OCD (haha), I'm one of the few who went into math and science (my aunt has a PhD in chemistry so I'm like her in that sense), I'm loud and outgoing like my Aunt Mary is, I'm kinda neurotic like my mother, tries to take care of everyone like my dad... I don't think I can pick one! I definitely didn't get my Granny's patience, haha! That went to my sister who is planning to teach first grade when she's done with college. I guess I'm a bit of an oddball, or a mix of everyone depending how you look at it!
I have noticed, I'll admit, that I'm more like my mother than I realize. And I look quite a bit like my sister, see my blog for a family photo a few posts back and you'll see. People who commented had trouble telling which was me compared to my Before photo!0
