Ok so I thought of another exercise for us to do....I want everyone to post what they are most proud of thus far on this journey. It does not have to be pounds related...but what are you proud of that you may not have been able to do before that you can now?

I would say Im most proud that I've changed my eating habits and actually enjoy everything I'm eating also I'm much more in shape to handle long walks, play a very good game of Tennis and lift weights for 30 minutes.

On Krystle's question... I'm most proud of having made physical activity part of my lifestyle. OK, I always walked and rode my bicycle, but couldn't see it as an athletic activity. I wouldn't try a new sport because, well, I'm not athletic! Now I'm going cross-country skiing, am intent on buying a cross bike and running a ride in June, am planning weight lifting routines and tentatively reading books on running. It's going to be a long way to "athletic", but that's a biggie.

Runners-up in the "pride" stakes are being able to control portions of just about anything, and, well, losing close to 25 kg in the first place!

Thus far, I am most proud of completing the 30 Day Shred (and starting round 2). At the start of round 2, I actually did A FULL PUSH UP!! I can see bicep muscles and partial abs, and it's totally transformed my thinking about exercise.
    _________

kaylenlawrence... Excellent progress!!! What a difference!
    Ok so I don't see much of a difference...but hey :)
AMAZING progress Krys! You can definitely see a difference between January and now! And your earliest picture there... Wow! What an amazing transformation!

Wow gals! Positive energy all around! Im loving it

Well, I have fallen off the workout & log my food wagon the past few weeks  BUT with my familys summer vacation a little over 3 months away I am back for the long haul!!!!!

I am almost out of the 180's (I'm 181) which is skinnier than I have been in over 3 years! I tried on a few dresses I wore in 2008 and they are too big so that was extra motivation to keep on going! Plus, my husband is so happy with my success and he keeps me motivated!

My workout plan is to do 30 Day Shred for 3 months straight! So each level for 30 days each. That will bring me right to July. I also need to add in extra cardio to I will be getting up early  to do the elliptical. I may add a rest day & just do something on the Wii to stay active one of the 7 days.

Please, please, PLEASE keep me accountable!!

Full time sunshine is almost upon us girls! Keep up the fantastic work!!!! We will all be rockin our swimsuits this summer without shame! :flowerforyou:

    To answer my own question...

I am most proud of the fact that I can workout 5 to 6 days a week. After being inactive for 7 years it is crazy to know that working out is now my sense of release and it truly makes me happy!

So I saw under 200 (199.7) today on the scale that would be the first time in almost 9 years I have been under 200. But not counting it just yet! That makes me very happy and motivated to keep on keep on! I will be back later to post my goals and plans for the second half! You all ROCK!

    Congratulations!!!!! :drinker: (water toast)

I am soooooo PROUD OF YOU!!!!! That is so awesome!!!! You are doing great!!! Keep it up.....you are seeing results!!!!!!
  • I am most proud of what I have been able to accomplish fitness-wise. I ran for 8 min straight Saturday! The second 8 min run I had to stop for about a min and walk, but I finished it up running! I may have been able to go the whole second 8 min run, but with a 5 year old yelling at you from behind "Momma, Momma!!", it's hard to concentrate. :grumble:

What I am really proud of is how I am making better choices when going out to eat. Before I wouldn't even think about the sodium in the meal or the serving size. Now... I make a decision on what to eat based first on my health and balance it with what sounds good.

Also...I have been able to take out of my closet all the XL/XXL shirts & the 18W & 20 size pants.

    Hello Snowflakes!

Sorry I have been MIA. Very busy! I just had a minute to check in today. I did lurk some days last week but no time to support as I would have liked. .

:flowerforyou: I would just like to say once again congrats to everyone who posted those inspiring pictures last week!! Awesome job indeed and everyone one of you should be very proud of your accomplishments.:flowerforyou:

Keep up the good work!:flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:

    In reply to Kyrs question:

I am most proud of my determination and dilengence to reach my goals no mattter how long it takes and not beating myself up when I have bumps on the road. Negativity is not really useful on this journey and I have been able to always see and dwell on positive accomplishments no matter how small. On so many levels I have come a long ways over the past 5 years and I want I am not giving up this time around.

Yesterday March 27th was my offical 1 year anniversay with MFP. Within that year I am managed not to gain weight and for that I am most thankful.

Thank all of my new and old MFP friends for your continued support of me on this journey! Since this is the end of the month for me at work, I know today will be it for me on the discussion board this week.

For the next half of this journey my goal is to lose 15 to 20 more pounds. I will do my best to get to 40 but realistically that may not be in the cards for me.....:-) But it does not hurt me to shot high!

    Have a wonderful week all!!:flowerforyou:

I didn't have the best weekend ever. But I am determined to have a great week! I have been drinking plenty of waterand I think that's going to really help m. I didn't get to the gym all weekend. I did workout from home, but its not the same. I've started back shredding. You guys have really motivated me, seeing all the inches you've lost. So I'm going to focus more of my energy on strength training in addition to cardio.

Hello fellow group members! While I have been weighing in, I haven't been posting. The reason: Anger at myself for not losing, and knowing why I am not losing, and feeling helpless. All of this added up to not wanting to talk about it!

Well, for those of you that I am friends with on here-you saw today that I admitted that my biggest problem is that I sneak food. I don't want anyone to know when I eat bad-and I sneak the food. Even from my husband! Or especially from my hsuband, rather! Anyway-its a never ending cycle for me. I eat good for a week or so-then I go back to sneaking food. On my way home, I will stop somewhere and eat it before i get there. On my break at work-I will go get something quick and then not let anyone know. I am both embarrassed and ashamed of this-and want this to stop. I am now going to work on figuring out why I do this-and work to change it. One day at a time, I guess!

Anyway-that is why I haven't been posting. But-I will strive to be better, and I hope that everyone is doing great in this journey!!!

Daily Inspiration for March 22, 2011
    Katie Jay, MSW

    Exercise.

Perhaps you would prefer not to exercise. It takes time, it's hard, and you don't like to sweat. But even though you can think of a thousand excuses why you do not want to (or think you can't) exercise, you know in the long run it will make you feel better.

At first, exercise can feel like torture, but if you stay vigilant you will find you become stronger and have more energy. Exercise also relieves stress. Working out your tensions with sweat helps to unburden your soul. And you just might find yourself feeling more cheerful. Prioritize exercise like you prioritize brushing your teeth, drinking water, or taking your medicine. For long-term weight loss success and maintenance, it is as essential.

Action for the day: In your journal, make a list of activities you like to do that involve moving your body. These activities do not have to be formal exercise. Pick one activity and do it today.

Please read below link and advise if you know or can shed some light on below thread. I guess I just want to make sure before I start cutting back on raw spinach that this is accurate information. Thanks.

yellowfairy... Would you be angry with one of your friends if they weren't losing weight? NO!! So try to go easy on yourself. You should treat yourself the way you would treat your best friend. With honesty, compassion, and encouragement. :flowerforyou: I've read that if you eat AS IF you are eating in front of other people, you will be less likely to sneak stuff, or overeat. Maybe check out Geneen Roth's book "Women God and Food" (even if you're not religious, it's not so much about God). It has great tips for better eating!

Sorry ladies I have been MIA on the board this week. I started yesterday Ripped in 30 Jillian Michaels new DVD LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I will be doing that 4 to 5 times a week with 20 to 30 minutes of additional cardio (i.e. zumba, treadmil intervals, or my leslie sansone dvds). I am hoping that I can get as close as I can to the ONEderlands by June 1. I think this should get me pretty close.

I would say what I am most proud of is that I am actually doing this! I am making a better choice for my life/health. I am also always amazed at myself after I finish a workout dvd. 35lbs ago I could barely breathe walking up and down the stairs now I run up them. It's crazy.

    morning/afternoon ladies!

I am so super busy this week and I am so far behind on posts..too much going on in my life.

My brother is getting married in October. my mother and brother are leaving to go overseas with her family (soon to be wife)... My sisters' and I have to shop for 3 dresses: offical engagement party, henna party (3 days before the wedding), and the wedding... This means that We have to loook for 3 over-the-top dresses. We are planning on making the dresses for the wedding and the other 2 are store bought, but they have to be mother approved. My mother said the navy blue dress ( profile picture) I bought for his first engagement announcment was not fancy enough...

ON top of that, before my brother announce his engagement dh and I were planning on moving from a townhouse to a single house. we found the house and place the bid...first bid was not accepted so we placed another bid...not accepted. Hopefully, this bid will be accpeted, because this house is not worth 400,000 especially if we need to do some fixing.
for our townhouse, My husband is not sure if we should rent it out or just sell it...too much thing to worry about and that is what in my daily life.

My weight, I have been around 205 (last friday and this morning) ..I need to kick it up. My goal before my birthday and brother's wedding is 160ish..I hope I can make that goal a reality..

so here is somewhat a rundown of what I am going through ( excluding childrens' schooling/graduation..and me finishing my degree). I will try to keep in touch with everyone but it is so hard to get on..but I will pop in from time-to-time.

    love ya all,

    Laila

Yellowfairy ~ I agree with the earlier post, dont be so hard on yourself!! I have struggled with this as well. I use to be a smoker, Married a man who didnt smoke and would catch myself sneaking around to smoke because I was embarassed to smoke. Same thing with food. I remember one time taking my purse and locking it in my car to keep me from going to the vending machine. Do what ever it takes to make you feel great!!! Dont stop and dont give up!!!!!! You can do this and remember ~ you are not alone!!

Girl this is what we are here for...for support! We all go through things in life and it takes us for a loop..but you have to remember that we are all here together! And we are going to be here at least until June 1st together. Don't feel bad about sneaking food....I did the same thing and I have weak moments where I still do. A few months ago, I would have a routine of buying a King Size White Chocolate Cookies and Creme Hersheys from WalGreens...I would put it in the bag, and hide it on top of the refrigerator so no one would see it....then at night I would sneak a few blocks of chocolate. Then I got to the point where I started feeling guilty about it and said, "Is this going to put you closer or further away from your goal?" So I stopped, because I knew I had to and in my head I say...the quicker I can get to my goal...the more I can afford to eat a piece or two without it sabotging my whole day! It will be ok. Do I still crave them..? Heck yes! Went to the drugstore today and picked one up...then looked at it, shook my head and put it back...then I came home and ate my turkey burger...and I am fine.

It takes time and it takes baby steps, but you can do it hun....try to stay as focused as possible on your ultimate goal and then you will get to the point where you can be proud of your self-control. We are here for you...one day at a time girl!

Before vacation I was able to run 10 min and walk intervals. After coming from vacation, couple of weeks has been hectic. I was sad that I havent made much progress. But yesterday for the first time I ran 30 minute straight. This is a huge accomplishment for me, since I always thought I couldnt ever run that far and my body wasnt meant to be. I am so excited and thrilled about this success. Today I was able to run straight 2.5 miles. I am going to sign up for C25K on April 16th.

I am most proud of the fact that I am embracing working out and have used my desire to change my career as a way to fuel my desire to get in shape. I feel proud knowing that even though I ate poorly yesterday (and today) I still managed to make time to lift weights and go for a walk. It is a step in the right direction towards being a healthier lifestyle. :)

Hey ladies! Since there are 30 days in April and I have been dying to try the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, I thought I'd start a mini-group for people that wanted to start the program this Friday and support each other through the month.

Friend me/email me if you're interested -- newbies and veterans alike. It would be good to have a diverse group participating so we newbies have some wise old sages to keep us going and vice versa.
