H20 Seventy Days of Shredding those EGGGstra pounds
Week 7 of 10 (28 Days to go)

-Welcome, to those of you who would like to join the group, althought its already began, feel free to join in. Anyone is always welcomed. We are here to help with weight loss goals, talk, and turn to when you have your weakest moments. Our "H20" group has been going on since August 2010. I have a group of ladies that have been here all a long, I have some that check in every so often to see whats up in the "new" group of people. and i have some that are new to the challenge. So please feel free to join in..

139285jf4ct78zln.gif

The picture above, is a reminder of how we can control our journey. Its a matter of how you control it. You control your own track.

Challenge 1 - Week 7
(03/27) - Walk, Jog, Run, Ride, ect 7 miles this week. We are coming up towards the end of our walking challenge. Maybe this will help push some of us that are struggling.

Challenge 2 - Week 7
(03/27) - Up your water intake by ATLEAST 1 glass, unless you already have a high glass intake. Then keep steady with your high water intake all week. Add flavor to it if you can't seem to drink water straight.

Challenge 3 - Week 7
(03/27) - Meditate for atleast 70 minutes total for the week. ( 10 minutes daily ).. Meditate, or yoga you choose. Make the best of it.

Due to my knee being blown out, I decided to not make as many challenges.. I hope you dont mind, with it being soo easy this week. keep up the good work ladies.. :)

Poem of the week -
The Road Not Taken
Poet: Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

***I chose a poem this week instead of a quote, I hope you dont mind. ****

I hope everyone has a great week.. Remember Friday is April Fool's day.. ;) hehe..
Hope you all enjoy my challenges i put together quickly..

Until next week,
April Val

    Thanks yet again, April! Awesome!

I REALLY need to increase my water intake! I hate water, seriously. I drink it because I HAVE to, no other reason. It's a constant struggle for me... :grumble:

Official weigh in with the Slave Driver tomoz... but I already know I'm down at least 2# so I'm feeling pretty good about it!

Thanks April for all your ideas and challenges and taking time to make this group a success. It is perfectly ok to not make as many challenges cause of your knee. Everyone deserves to take it easy and some others may also need a break from working out so much.

Good Monday Mornnig Everyone- we had a our change to summertime this weekend and now I am facing that dread losing an hour of sleep that many of you faced two weeks ago- so I am running a bit rough today

Yesterday was the official opening of our town's wooden shoe path (think traditional dutch wooden shoes and not more modern clogs) boy that was tough but fun- with lots of obstacles to walk over (I only did about a third of the obstacles) - I have no idea how far I walked yesterday- a bit less than a mile in my wooden shoes, but more in my standard shoes- probably got in 2.5-3 miles yesterday but since it was walking while hanging out with friends- i won't count it towards my total walking goal-plus I got in a lot of walking on saturday so I am doing ok for now on the goal-

I hope everyone else is also finding new ways to get out there and enjoy spring !

Terrible eating weekend for me and the scale shows it this morning. Although the only times that I show such a huge gain, TOM is on her way.....and it's overdue so I hope it comes and goes quickly.

    hello All~
I am attempting to catch up with all the challenges and many seem to already be part of my life, for that thank you April and Pink and all others with encouraging words and thoughts. I have been with MFP 8 months now. Lost and gain but never gave up. New diagnose of type 11 diabetes really slammed it home and further scans, studies shown my back suffered major trauma and now dealing with that. I begun a work out program last Tuesday and the first 2 days were brutal and the trainer said it would be. The weight loss was immediate but I know better-lol.Just a big thank you all.

April, as always fantastic post, thank you!

This week is going to be good, I can tell. I'm willing it to be so. :) I can't believe we are already in week 7! Time flies!

I initially wanted to lose 10 pounds for this challenge. That is not going to happen because I made some bad choices and had a really bad 2 weeks there at the beginning. However, I am down to 230 which is I think 3 pounds lost so I am really pleased with that! I'm back in the saddle, so to speak, going to the gym 5-6 days a week and I upped my calories and am actually losing more. Go figure! My goal is still 215 by June 25th, I think if I stick to what I am doing and continue to push myself I can do it. 15 pounds in 89 days, I CAN do it!

Walking challenge: I have been counting biking. :embarassed: BUT I have only been on 2 bike rides so far and they have totaled about 13 miles together. It's helping me stay motivated so I am going to keep it. Nearly 2/3 of the way there! I will DEFINITELY get in 7 miles this week, I usually do about 1.7 at the gym on the elliptical so I will be sure to do that at least 6 times.

Water...I needed that reminder! I wasn't very good with water this weekend, though I tried. I will try to get at least 9 a day this week, to help with the water weight from date night Saturday that is still hanging around.

Am trying to stay motivated and positive this week. As of Friday, I had lost 1" off my neck and 1/2" off my hips and I REALLY want to keep that going! Got to the gym even though it was snowing and WAY too early today, and even though it hurt I pushed through my whole circuit. Very proud.

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

    Thanks April :)

I have to admit, I haven't been doing my walking, I keep doing various exercise programmes every day and can't really fit it in, I know I am a cheater lol.

I was trying to work out how much water I was supposed to drink and I think I drink more than recomended anyway, I have always drunk loads, I love water, can't believe people don't like it :O

I shall attempt to meditate :)

Weigh day tomorrow, TOM is creeping up on me though I think.

    Thanks April!

And woot woot! 28 more days to go! Let's get it movin'!

I won't be around nearly as often as I like due to getting the job at Home Depot :frown: I really don't wanna go back. ALthough it's been 2yrs since I was last there and people have come and gone, but I've heard nothings really changed. I go in Wed for a few hours or re-training. At least this time I'll only be a part time cashier instead of a full time flooring specialist which means I may not bring any work home with me and leave all the bs at work. Mostly taking the job so my in laws quit complaining about things which they have no reason to.. but anyway, on to the challenges:

Challenge 1 - Shouldn't be a problem for me, as long as the weather doesn't open up a bunch more snow or start raining, I plan on walking to and from work a few times...

Challenge 2 - Keeping my water intake the same :)

    Challenge 3 -I'll attempt yoga..

Hello everyone! This week not so good for me...very bad eating habits, no logging my meals and exercise...well, if you count the running around at work?

I wanted to lose during this challenge but it doesn't seem that I will do much of that. I start out my week with the very best of intentions but fall back to old habits.
I have to get in my quit smoking frame of mind...I did so well with that. I used that same theory when I started to lose weight and it worked. Time to revisit I think. (quit in 2009...no wants for a smoke...why can't I do that with food..haha)
I have not been making many meals at home cause no one is here to eat them so I rely on out meals...huge downfall.
I am going shopping today...filling my fridge with the goodies I love that are also good for me. If my son and daughter want treats,,,,they will have to find them on their own. If there are cookies here, I will eat them. If you give me a bag of chips, I will eat them.

I so love reading all of your successes...it inspires me to do more. This week will still be cold for me to ride my bike, but I can try some walking outside or go on the treadmill.

I have many miles to catch up to complete the 100 miles challenge.
Drinking water, I am good about my fluids, esp on work days.
Meditation is always a good thing...will try and work on that one too.

Have a beautiful week everyone! Send me those positive vibes so I can get my butt back in the game!

Thanks for all your hard work on another challenge, April! :flowerforyou: I'm so sorry about your knee.

This week I was down .2 lbs  I'll take it. I was down 3.75 inches, so that made me happy. Hopefully, I'll get back into gear this week with P90X since I'm back home.

I hope everyone has a great week!!! :flowerforyou:

    Down 0.8 this week, woot!

I will definitely do my best to get 7 more miles... since I'm doing it on a bike, I can do that many in 1 session, so I'm going to mark it up to 21 miles... which means 3 workouts minimum.

THANKS for including the water again - why is it that I struggle so much with this??

Meditation: 1 hour of church every sunday, and will make a point to do more during the week.

    THANKS APRIL!

    Linda,

I don't know what kind of nursing you do... but one thing I DO know... when I worked in hospital, I ate horribly and irregularly. It seemed like the only time I could eat was when I was doing my charting! No REAL break time. Then the many years spent working in ER... we got our lunch break and I ate then... but not very well. The 12 hr shifts were killers! It messed up my body's eating clock!!

I am pretty much the same way with "bad for me" food. If there are chips or cookies around, I WILL eat them! So I don't buy them. My 11 yr old son complains, but I figure he can live without them too!

In any case... this has to be a lifestyle change. NOT a weight loss journey. It's a difficult paradigm shift. (At least for me, it is!) I have to see the weight loss as the bonus for changing my life and the relationship I have with food. (And I DO mean relationship!)

I have said before, I made myself fat. No one force fed me food. I did it. I may have had excuses, but that's all they are... excuses. I once called them REASONS, but hurting myself and making myself unhealthy is far from reasonable!! Today... I make the choice to be a better version of me. I will NOT be fat. It's my choice. I have to do the work. We all do...

I know what I have to do...I did this last year...dropped 35 lbs...felt better about myself. Winter gets to me and it is so easy to fall back into old habits and excuses.
I take my break at work and actually eat sensibly..soup and sanwich or salad. I even bring healthy snacks. It is when I am home that I totally graze! So, I have to buck up and do the right thing. I have to go back to how I was feeling last year at this time. I put up a pic of me after the loss so motivate. I am really just sick of this weather...work is more stressful, I work a post surgical unit (thanks sick people)...feeling some empty nesting (kids are older, dont need me or are not home)...hubby works a different shift so I miss him too. lat year he was off for a back injury and we started walking together..I enjoyed that time. now we don't always have that time. So when I am alone...I feel crappy and don't want to do anything. But not anymore. I cannot wallow in my pity...I need to get up and follow the very same advice I gave to others. Thanks cazz for the pep talk....

Hee hee - I love that I'm getting so predictable.....with PCOS it's such a major accomplishment. It was overdue, but by exactly the number of days that I had a raging infection (8 days) and so I'm perfectly fine with it. Explains the cravings, the back pain and all the other things that were causing me to misbehave on the weekend!! There is hope for me getting some weight off by Easter yet!

    Hello ladies!

I'm down to 153.6 this week.. another .8 loss! I'll take it even though I REALLY wanted that full pound. It's all good! I'm totally on track to finish the 100 miles, probably even a couple weeks early! That really makes me feel good. I had no idea one year ago that I would be able to run 100 miles in less than 70 days! Commitment and hard work, and it's paying off! I need to buy some new dress pants for work because the 12's I bought in September are huge on me! I'm fitting nicely in a 10 but I'm picky with pants and haven't found the right style yet! Oh well.. more shopping this week!!! LOL!

Thanks for the challenges, April. I'm doing great with the water and of course the miles, so I will work hard to spend that 10 minutes of quiet time by myself this week. I find it so easy to fill my house with noise, even when I don't care what's on the tv! Tonight I'm watching the special on NBC because I have a friend who's daughter is in the choir in a couple of numbers so I'm watching and looking for Jenna!!!! What an honor!

Hope you all have a great week!

Alright I love you gals so I'm coming for advise. I keep going back and forth between the same 3lbs. I cant seem to break out of the 190's and stay there. I am watching what I eat and how much and I have been doing pretty well. One of my down falls is pop. I have been working out 4-6 days a week. I don't know what to do. I have tried very intense workouts to just walking and doing a little hard cardio and strength. I'm at a loss and losing faith I will be able to drop this weight.
I did start the shot after my daughter and it made me gain 23lbs and I couldn't lose it. I have gotten away from 198 now but stuck between 192 to 195. I'm getting very frustrated. Any advice will help.

I have been in this exact place for months, I can't really help other than to say this has happened twice now and it just came right on its own. Someone once told me it happens every 16 pounds and that seems to be dead on for me. The only difference I have made this time, is eating more, maybe you could try that?

One thing that has helped me get over a plateau has been interval/circuit and resistance training. Just setting the elliptical to "random" has helped and I found that circuit training int he weight room burns more calories and I just feel like it is a better workout. You could also try a new workout or machine to get things re-started. And I agree with bj, eating more for a while might help. I just jumped up to 1900 a day and lost a good amount of weight pretty quickly (added to upping and changing my workouts). I HATE plateaus, I hope you get over this hump soon! Mine always seem to happen when I'm at about 1-2 lbs above breaking into a new "decade" of pounds (240s, 230s, etc).

Thanks girls. I have been stuck playing this game since the first of the year. On Jan 3 I weighed 196.7 and since then I have jumped around between 195 and 192. Its driving me nuts. Ill see about eating a little more. I feel I'm eating a lot as it is. Maybe I'm eating to much. Well Ill try eating more then if that doesn't work try eating less. Somethings got to give. Maybe once this weather makes up its mind I will be able to get out more and walk. Right now only doing walking at home DVD, hip hop abs and push ups etc..

    Warning Too much information posting:

I AM SOOOO HUNGRY TODAY - and yesterday too for that matter- but then it suddenly occured to me that last week I broke out on my chin (which doesn't usually happen) so I bet that it is simply my TOM - which made me laugh a bit- I have always had very very heavy and painful period- to the point where I was anemic enough that my doctor wanted to give me a transfusion- and we switched around often my pill- a year or two ago my gyne suggested an IUD- so I went for it - now I have at most a few days of spotting a year (as compared to 10 days of hell)
so, as you may all appreciate, the fact that I did not even think of TOM for the reason I am so hungry and my chin was all pimple-y is actually quite a change!

now just need to go burn off about a million calories for yesterdays overage and today's munching, munching munching!

Sorry to hear about your knee April--I hope you are able to heal/recover quickly!!! Thanks for still taking the time to put together challenges for us

JeninBelgium--I absolutely  your profile pic! My mom has a pair of wooden clogs and my sister and I used to play around in them--an obstacle course sounds like a lot of fun/hard work!

For the challenges... 1 & 2 I'm all over like white on rice! Running/walking is my cardio, and I've always got my water bottle handy. Meditating I will have to work on... perhaps I will just drink some tea and read some of my book each evening and call it good. In my house, that is actually pretty relaxed

Good luck to everyone this week... we are more than halfway there, keep up the good work!
