Great work blues! Let's keep it up. I am going to keep working on drinking water. And get in two days of exercise. What are your goals?0
-
Thanks for the new board! I've got to get to bed, so no time to think about goals yet.
Our weather was beautiful today - very little wind. Hallelujah! Have a good Sunday all!0 -
Good morning Blues! How are you today? What are your plans? I'm at work right now, and when I get off, I plan to hit the swimming pool. First I think that I will throw together a pork chop casserole and put it in the oven, so that when I get home, dinner will be waiting for me. Then I have a big to do list around the house for the rest of the night (actually the rest of the week). Hope you are all keeping your heads above water this week! Have a good Monday!0
-
I have started off well today. Good breakfast, exercise, water...Now I just need to clean the house to be really on track. I have come to realize lately that I am not always present in my body. If I was I wouldn't just eat or walk around like a zombie or sit and watch tv. If I actually was in my body and feeling what I needed I would want to move more and want to eat healthy things, and hear my husband talking to me the first time. Just my thoughts of today.
Lets keep it up! Where are you today?
Mary enjoy your swim. I am thinking ahead to dinner too, I have some ground beef that needs to be used. I will probably make meatballs. We have not had them in a while. I also have quite the to do list. Time to get crackin' !!0 -
Good evening,
I had a skills training clinic tonight for ultimate where I got to play with better players. It was intense but good. I potentially have a team for a tournament I wanted to attend so that's excellent.
I've been sitting down and attempting to figure out my summer and it looks like I'm going to be insanely busy but that's how I like it. A lot of time management and organization will cone into play.
This week, I am going to work on staying under calories and keeping my water intake up.
Have a great night.0 -
Hey all.
My weekend wasn't so great. I always had a minor problem of not logging on weekends. Sorta go by eye, from what I've done through the week. No alcohol though.
just came back from a 8km wog - 57.5 mins and burned 970 calories.
Still have trouble keeping a 5 min jog non stop - Something I will be working on this week.
Drink lots of water everyone, and keep up the good work.0 -
I am in love with Vita Tops! Cran Bran and Deep Chocolate....mmmmmm!
I did 10 minute trainer lower body and yoga on Friday, rest on Saturday-if you count carpet cleaning, weeding flower beds, etc etc, rest, did a 5 mile run (at a TURTLE pace) Sunday. Walked an hour yesterday. Hoping to sneak in 10 minute trainer total body tonight.
Feeling good and in control right now...I like it!
Peter-you'll be running circles around 5 minutes in no time at all...determination makes it happen! :glasses:
I am actually drinking water!!!!!! Seem to have a very dry mouth when I run right now.
Ultimate-what sport is it? Sounds great.
Deb-LOL! You'll settle into a routine. It's been a while give yourself time. Maybe set 1 goal a week for now and build on to it.
Mary-I wish I could swim better - I can stay afloat but it's not pretty!:laugh:0 -
Happy Tuesday to all! Yesterday went pretty well, so I think I will try it again. Go home from work, get a spinach tuna casserole in the oven, and then off to the swimming pool. Back home to keep gnawing on my to do list, which seems to be getting longer instead of shorter. How does that happen, anyway?? Here's to smart choices!0

Hi, my name is Karen. I saw a link to this thread from another post, and it said that you accept new members, so I thought I'd see if I can join in for some accountability.
I have been a member of MFP for over a year. When I first started, I was super motivated to make a change, and I lost over 30 pounds in the first 4 months. Since then, I've been up and down, and I've just been making excuses. I haven't been consistent in logging in here and keeping track of my food and exercise. My eating has been horrible! I've gained some of my weight back.
So here I am now, ready for another start!
My current weight (as of Monday morning) is 267.2. For my goals, I'm going back to the basics in order to get back into the routine.
1) Log food every day
2) Stay under calories
3) Exercise at least 3 times a week
Can you tell me more about yourselves, and this group? Where did the name come from? Anything to do with having blue eyes, because I do! Or did "Blues" just fit well with "Beautiful"?
Thanks everyone. I hope you don't mind me jumping in here!0 -

I can't answer the question about the name, because I'm not an original member. Maybe someone else can take that question. Looking forward to getting to know you!0 -
Welcome Karen. Of course we accept new members.
Most people go through the same events you do. Stop or inconsisten logging, we make excuses. It's all about being accountable to yourself. We know what we're doing wrong. We just need to fix it.
I went MIA for a few months. I had lost 35 lbs, before my wedding in may 2010, went on vacation etc etc. Came back.
I basically went back to somewhat eating the same way, no exercise. Make it short. I gained 20 lbs back.
So now i'm back to continue my lifestyle change.
I'm not an original member either, but joined this group because of my favorite color is blue.
Cheers,
Peter0 -
Welcome Karen.
I like others am not an original member. I joined because I liked the name and the group seemed so welcoming.
Chrissy - the sport is called ultimate frizbee. I only started last year but I feel in love with it. Next month in fact will be the one year mark. I have just signed up for my first tournament so here's hoping that the team get accepted.
I just came from a great game of ultimate in nasty weather. Hopefully it'll be much better for my game on Thursday. My goals for the rest of the week are to stay under calories and to continue drinking enough water.
Have a great night blues.0 -
Thank you all. I like the name of the group too because blue is one of my favorite colors, and as I said before, I have blue eyes. Anyway, I am going to try to check in each day. I need the accountability.
Thank you Peter for sharing how you also struggled so I know I am not the only one!
Mary, I love your plan for how you deal with overeating!
Ultimate, I'm glad you have an activity you enjoy so much, and thank you for welcoming me!0 -
Welcome Karen! We love new members. This group actually originated about two years ago if I am thinking right. It was part of a biggest loser challenge where each group was a color of the teams on bl. I joined after that challenge because everyone was so welcoming. Also several people had met their goal weight and were my height (5' 5"). That made it seem doable to me. I lost a total of 20 lbs and then after moving and losing my routine completely, not to mention being stressed out I gained yen back. I had a baby almost a month ago and am attempting to get back into the good habits I was in before.
We just morphed into the beautiful when we were no longer doing BL anymore.
Chrissy did I get the history pretty accurate? And thanks. I hope to find my groove soon my mom keeps telling me I need to give myself slack but it's been hard to do as I feel like I should be doing so much.
Keep it going everyone! We can do this!!0 -
90% of Failure is from Quitting!
Most of the time when people start an exercise program, they are probably very close to starting to be successful when they quit.
There are many reasons why people quit and fail in their attempt to lose weight and/or get fit. But I think the #1 reason is the person’s attitude. If you stay positive, be realistic about your results, roll with the punches (things often go wrong), focus on your long-term goals and take it one day at a time, then you are going to be successful!
But if you are negative (everything is a big deal) and keep beating yourself up about workouts you missed, weight you did not lose, overeating, etc., then you are setting yourself up for failure.
You deserve to feel good about yourself, to have tons of energy and to be health! So focus on having a positive attitude and the next time the little voice in your head tries to drag you down and talk you into failing, fight back by focusing on staying positive and know that 90% of Failure is from Quitting!
Keep fighting and never give up – You are worth it!
Here's the thought of the day! By Jonathon Roche. I stocked up on more healthy foods this morning and I have developed more of a plan. What have you done today?0 -
Just a quick pop in today - I am really busy. I did actually get out while I was at work and walk the track with my kindergarten grandson who was raising money for the schools. I managed to take two of my high school boys with me and do it on the clock!
Anyway, Deb, you prompted me to repeat one of my favorite Thomas Edison quotes: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. " Keep trying - maybe your next try will be the perfect one!0 -
Howdy everybody.
Everybody drinking their water?. Gone out for a little walk? some exercise?
Today I think I pushed myself too much.
Didn't have breakfast before my workout, which I have done in the past.
I did P90x shoulders/arms felt good, 60 mins done.. Now ab ripper X......... Oh how I just luuuuuuuuuuuuvvvvvvv it .. NOT.
During my ABrprX I had to stop because i was going to vomit, and felt a little faint. 700+ calories burned today.
I will make sure I eat something before I do a workout again.
Drinking lots of water today........ how about Deb? karen?0 -
Hi Deb. Nice to meet you, and thanks for the history of the group. I was just curious!
Peter, I am working on my water!
I'll write more later, just thought I'd check in while I have a minute.0 -

Well, today was a funny day. I posted that I was going out, because it's been 2-3 days and I did P90x S & A yesterday, so jog/workout on legs today.
I almost didn't go out, it was sorta chilly 4 degrees C up there. I just went and did it. Glad I did, it felt great with a little chill in the air.
I was able to keep 5 mins non stop jogging a few times today by slowing down my pace.
C25k W4 x 2 - 8kms for 61 mins. 975 calorie burn.
Have a great day everyone.
If you can go for a walk, walk your dog, take your kids for a walk. If you have no dog or pets, you have no excuse.
Remember your water everyone.0 -
Awesome work Peter! I have found that I sometimes just need to slow down too--supposedly as you get better your speed will increase and the best thing to do is just maintain the same speed instead of increasing. I have a hard time with that as I just want to run faster...
I put in 20 min of exercise yesterday. I was pretty excited.. Just never logged it. Today I pushed a cart with 3 kids around 2 stores. I think that will count for exercise.
Have a great one. Off to figure out dinner0 -
Way to go Blues! Sorry I'm so late checking in today; it's been pretty wild around here. Anyway, tomorrow I am heading out to see my mom for her birthday. I will just be gone overnight, and back to spend Easter Sunday here. What are you doing for Easter?
There is a weekend coming. Is everyone going to log their food? Weekends are hard, but I usually make it. However, with my trip and Easter, I'm thinking I may not log food again until Monday.
Wishing you all a joyous weekend! I will try to pop in some time!0 -
To be honest I am not going to think about logging this weekend. I am going to drink my water though and I plan on getting fruits in. I found a great app for my phone. It is Nike training it takes you through various workouts they are pretty intense. I did 20minutes last night and had to stop. Boy I am out of shape right now.
Have a great Friday!0 -
I have been so under this week on calories...probably lower than I should but progress...I've been so busy and at least I am not stress eating!
Happy Easter to you all - I do hope you're blessed!0 -
Hey all.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm usually bad for logging my food on weekends anyways, so this won't be much different.
I'll just try and watch what I eat.
It was nicer weather out here today, so I went out for anther 8km run, burned 975 calories in 58 mins.
I was able to keep the 5 min jogging non stop though. That felt great today.
Everybody make good choices.0 -
Chrissy I think you have a reason to splurge this weekend!
Peter your cals burned is awesome! I need to pull out my hrm again.
Keep up the great work0 -
Another quote of the day.
Exercise for the joy of feeling good and getting better. Eat right with the intention of fueling your body with the things it needs to perform." - Tony Horton0 -
I just got home from my trip. My mother looks better than she has for a while, so I am happy. Everyone have a Happy Easter tomorrow, and I will try to catch up with all of you on Monday!0
-
I didn't plan to post until tomorrow, but I have to tell you about my wonderful Easter surprise. My daughter and son in law that live here in our town announced at Easter dinner tonight that their 3rd baby will be born in December! I am very excited.
We had a lovely day: church, including breakfast there, Easter Egg Hunt out in the country at my daughter's in laws, Easter dinner with 14 of us at my daughter's. I haven't logged my food for three days. Very unusual for me, but a nice break. The good news is that I know that I can easily jump back in tomorrow. Also, I ate much less than I would have in my days prior to MFP. Even indulging is not what it used to be! I've got to get to bed; see you tomorrow!0
