    Goofy's Big Race is the Disney Book version of The Tortoise and the Hare. I read it to my children sometimes. Although Donald has a shiny and fast new sports car, it is Goofy, steadily plugging along in his old car that wins the race. I've been thinking about that a lot as I see "quick fixes" advertised. Lose 10 lbs and 10 inches in 10 minutes. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? Although those quick fixes may cause a person to lose weight and inches, the momentum isn't going to be enough to carry you through. Slow and Steady, plugging along may not sound as exciting, but it is what will get you where you're trying to go. "

    I ran across this quote from Confucius the other day: "It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop." That certainly applies to weight loss and other goals that we may have. The point is to keep on going, just like the point Cricket made in her Goofy story. Too often, I let a set back take me off course for weeks. Just for today, I will make it my goal to keep going and not stop!
