I got 27% using the military calculator. I'm 5'7 and 153 pounds. How accurate is this method? I'm not brave enough to post pics quite yet -_-0

Thanks for this post!
I'm 166cm (5ft4) and 57kg (125lb) and my BF% is 25% according to an electronic scales at my gym.
My profile picture is the only one i have.
I think the BF% highlights that different people have very different builds and carry the weight in different areas, which just isn't considered in BMI0 -
I just had my body fat tested with calipers last week. 5' 4", 128 lbs and 18.93% bf (my profile photo - right side)0
-
I had my bf checked using a digital scale about a month ago and it was 26% - this pic was taken a couple of weeks ago and I've been eating a cleaner diet and have been working out a lot harder. I think my bf% is lower than 26 but I don't know. I am 5'10.5"
I get so confused. You look very much like me (although you are a couple of inches taller), but when I had mine checked two diff. ways the average was 31%!! I really didn't think I was that high on the bf%, but I don't know.0 -

According to: http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html#accurate
You have 27.5% body fat.
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/body-fat-calculator/ 26.8% body fat so pretty close on both.
I am 5' 5.5" 172lbs 33yrs old..... yes my goal is 148lbs any suggestions? Gained 4 pounds in the last 3 weeks trying to eat within my cal of 1550... burning almost 2000 calories every week via HRM (strength train 1 day, spinning 2 x, zumba 1 x) workout more? I don't know.0 -
bump. Don't know mine but would like to find out.0
-
being brave....
30 years old, 5'2" 155lbs
My home scale says 37-38%, the health central site says 25%, army calculators say 37%. My visual guess is mid-low 30's? I think I'd be happy to get into the mid 20's. I work out 5 days a week, mostly cardio.
edit: pretty sure I did the code properly, but no luck. here's the link: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z75/lyndseed/my fitness pal pics/156lb37.jpg0 -
No pics...Sorry. I am 5'2" and 169lbs (TOM...My excuse...lol)
Military bf% = 42.4% BF
Home body fat test = 29.0% BF
BMICalculator.net = 27.5% BF
An average of the 3 BF% = 33% BF (I guess I will go with that one)
ETA: With calipers = 32% BF
The average of all 4 = 33% BF as well....I will still go with this number for me...I hope it's right I think..lol0 -
I'm 5'4" and 101 lbs., and military calculators give me 13% to 15%. I would guess methods other than measuring tape would give me a higher percentage. I'm a recovering anorexic -- don't be skinny-flabby like me! Anorexics tend to have a higher BF% than you would think due to deterioration of muscle mass.

The day I got CALIPERED at 19.8% my Tanita digital scale (foot pads only) read 34%. Those things are a joke in my case.
Do you think the Tanita is inaccurate? My gym uses that and it has my bf% as 28% but I feel leaner than that. Maybe I should have the caliper thing done. I have been clocking in hours at the gym and eating lots of protein to get that number to go down.0 -

I'm 28% according to the military body fat calculator online. I'm 5'7 and 153 lbs.
Okay so... according to THIS link: http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html#accurate
...I'm 22.4% body fat.... something's not adding up! Haha. I really have no idea now. I'm going to have to go and get some calipers because clearly these equations are quite variable.0 -
I don't know what body fat % I am. Military says 40%, Covert Bailey Body fat says 24.2% and Fat 2 Fit original Calculator says 27.5%? That's a huge gap. >.<
Pic taken this morning:
I'm probably closer to 40% since I'm still pretty big. *sigh*0 -
35% the calculators online say that Im under the obese category wich I refuse to believe until a Dr tells me so. :happy:0 -

last I checked about three different sites said I was at 23%... I haven't done the calipers. I'd like to be in the upper teens.

Apx 21% (Navy BF calculator)

22.9% (at least last I got it checked at gym about a month or so ago). I'm noticing my pictures all kind of stink because I never prep them, so please excuse the dirty mirror---I have got to clean that thing.
Anyway, I'm 5'4", 119lbs, and 39 y/o. Yeah it totally stinks I carry all my fat in my belly, otherwise I'd be done losing. I really do have abs you just can't really see them. Ah well.
ETA: MireyGal76 and RumRunner I want your abs!! I also think it is astonishing how good some people look at various weights and heights. I cannot go far above 120lbs without looking like junk. But some of you wow amazing! You are the same height as me and you look spectacular in the 130s and even 140s!0 -
bump very interesting0

The day I got CALIPERED at 19.8% my Tanita digital scale (foot pads only) read 34%. Those things are a joke in my case.
THANK YOU! My scale has been saying 34% or so for the last 2 years, and I've lost almost 20 lbs, but it still says 34%. Glad to know I'm not crazy! :laugh:0 -
i have a scale that says im at 39.4%bf i did that website and it says im actually at 25.4%bf that actually makes me feel a lot better than the 39 lol
edit: i weigh in at 185 right now still have a lot to lose (from having children)0 -
Bumping so I can read this when I am not at work0
