    Hi All,

Just got back from my hour workout at the community center. In one hour we only burned 360 cals.

    Today:
    Oatmeal w/ dried cherries
    apple w/ natural p.b.
mini ham & turkey sub on wheat
skim milk & home made cookie 15 cal each. I'll post recipe soon
probably a Frozen dinner Lean cusine
    popcorn

I'm working on my anatomy & physiology homework today. It is very hard. I may have to stay away from the computer if I don't get enough done today.

Hey there everyone! This seems like a fun, friendly, and fantastically supportive group! Mind if I join in too? I know, only two weeks left in this challenge, but I read that there's another one coming up when this one finishes up, so maybe I'll warm up here and be VERY ready for that one?

Anyways, mom of 4, but I'm lucky, they are all in school, and since I only work twice a week, I don't have to struggle to find time to exercise. I only have to struggle to find the motivation! I've only been really watching what I eat and exercising the last couple of weeks. I'm down almost 3.5 pounds though. Everyone I know is telling me it's only water weight, but water is the one thing I've never slacked off on, I get between 90 and 120 oz a day. I'll stick with my idea that it's fat coming off!

My goal for the next two weeks.... We have kid's birthdays all month-- two weeks ago was the first, this weekend is the second, next weekend is the third. Then a weekend off, my birthday comes up (by then, I'm sick of cake so not an issue!), and then the last birthday party is going to fall on Halloween. I am going to try and not be piggy on all the cake and ice cream (not to mention pizza and hot dogs and burgers). Heck, I'm going to try not to eat all the leftover frosting too!

By the way, if you want to see some of the cakes I've done in the past, I've got them posted on my profile!

  • Welcome Robin! :) Of course you can join in....it will be a lot of fun! You are right, this is a wonderful group of ladies!! ::::Huugggggssss:::

Ok girls, I had SUCH a bad night sleeping so I didn't get up and go to the gym this morning. I am starting the 30 day Shred Challenge today so I'll for sure be working out tonight. :) My food is planned and we are good to go on that. :)

Amy, NICE LOSS!! Good job....don't you love following a bad week with a KICK *kitten* week? :)

Rhiannon, I hope you have a great day with your kiddos. :)

Kristin!! Tell us all about your day in your new job! :)

Deb, way to get out to the gym today! Hey 360 calories burned is better than sitting on your butt! Good job! :)

Oh...and I forgot to measure last night...so I'll do it tonight BEFORE I do my Shred. I'm thinking just hips, waist, bust and thighs. :)

    Have a wonderful day ladies!

  • Hey Ladies. I stumbled across your thread today and this seems like an awesome group I could definalty benefit from some group support! I'm not really big into posting but this seems like it would be alot of fun! Mind if I join...??? I figure I could get into the swing of things during your last two weeks then get really serious about the next challenge (I have to work up to these things:blushing: ). But anyways... I am in grad school working on my PhD... so basically I have no time ... and no money  (i like to blame my weight gain on this...) hehe. So about a month ago I decided to get back into shape, and eat healthy... so far so good I have lost 10lbs (6 on this site) and I am wicked excited to get the rest off. My signiature basically maps out my plan of attack! I have been doing well with the nutrition... but finding time to work out is really hard for me... so for now I am going to try and stick with a really healthy diet and get in exercise when I can. My goals for this week are to loose 1-2lbs, drink a ton of water and work out three days... (baby steps) I weighed in yesturday @ 149.4lbs yeay!!! so far so good. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!!! have a great day ladies!!!!

Okay ladies, I'm checking in because I seriously need your help. I can feel myself totally slipping off the wagon and I'm scared that I'm going to spiral. I've got a TON of catching up to do in my house (it looks like a tornado blew through right now) since the last week and a bit were so consuming and that totally affects my motivation. I need you!!! Please help
  • Ok....start small...VERY SMALL...tell yourself...I'll do the dishes, then read the kids a book....then do the next thing and reward yourself (NO FOOD REWARDS)....pretty soon you will see a light at the end of the tunnel. You don't have to do it all in one sit down...take it in chunks....

How did Susie eat a whale? One bite at a time.

ok, pedal sit down and take a deep breath in while stretching your arms out, now exhale while wrapping your arms around yourself, do this a few times. do you feel any better???? now make a short simple list of what you need to do. like straighten up your house, i didn't say clean just pick up and put things in their rooms. than sit for another few minutes, have a drink of what ever you enjoy, get up and do something else on your list. sit and repeat.
people find themselfs FEEL like they are losing control when their lifes or home life is out of wack. so, slowly get that back in order and you will find your control follows suit. this is "life getting in our way" and it is something we have to deal with and get use to, to make this a lifestyle change. as long as you are feeling good about your choices right now, than it will all work itself out. as they say "come out in the wash". i know it is so much easier said than done. but, you are a very strong person and you can pull thru this.
that's why we are here, just type away if it keeps you from eating, even if just saying nothing.
we love ya, and are here.

Okay, I need to re-phrase. My house needs a good cleaning but that's totally not intimidating to me. I'm usually a neat-freak and I've got that part down. I'm totally okay with that. But the mess is currently exhausting and that is in turn making me feel totally lazy and unmotivated about my nutrition, food plan and exercise. I'm afraid I'm going to fall off THAT wagon.
    Thanks so much though guys.

Now, can you kick my @$$ about my "diet" ??? :glasses:
  • hahahaha....ok. You need quick and easy and healthy!!!! Fruit, quick and easy! Baby carrots, quick and easy!! Cut up some cucumbers and keep them in a tupperware so they are easy to eat when you are hungry! Grill up a bunch of chicken...half hour of work could give you enough for the whole week....yogart, cottage cheese, nuts, raisins....so back to basics...don't try to be fancy if you are feeling lazy....just be quick and easy! You'll get through this little rut and be ready to give martha stewart a run for her money...

I know you can do it girl!!!

DO NOT fall of that wagon. i don't want to have to pick up any pieces when it runs over you.:frown: yucky LOL.
what have you been eating? or do we want to know? it's late today, what's for dinner?
so tomorrow i want you to start all over. the week isn't even 1/2 over with yet. at least eliminate a gain for next week. i hear things from allot of people "you always eat so well." "how do you cope and not eat this or that." etc. it's hard to be that way. we do have our days, weeks, months when we want to just eat and eat what ever we want. you have noticed yourself falling and that is a great sign of a change in your life. you see it. good for you.
time to take a walk down memory lane. remember how GOOD you felt when you ate properly? remember how GOOD those workouts felt? now take a walk tonight. not to burn the calories, but, to think and get yourself back on track. take time for just you and regroup. "ME TIME" we all need it at some point.
i hope you feel better real soon. when i say my prayers every night i ask for the strength and wisdom on my weight loss jounery.

Cass, Chipper, you're my angels :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Remembering the enjoyment is so important, and going back to basics is so important. Both things I know logically, but hearing them from you guys really helps. Thanks!

It has been a lot of grains. More bread than normal, too large a serving of pasta (although it's still brown rice pasta with sodium-free sauce and broccoli so it could be worse), and not enough water. That's a HUGE one. I have to replace the filter in my brita. Lame eh? And I'm just heading out now to the grocery store. We're so low on staples which is no help, but really it's just feeling over-worked, exhausted and bogged-down that is contributing. My 3 year old gave me a very insightful answer to my feeling down: She could tell I was sad and asked what was wrong so I decided to tell her. I said, "you know how I have been eating more often and going to the gym to help my body use up its extra softy-soft?" (I don't want her to get body issues through my process so I have been careful with vocabulary and discussed with her that it just means there is some extra that my body needs to use up etc). Then I told her I had been feeling like I wasn't working as hard these days and it's not a good feeling and makes me too tired and cranky. She said "It's okay Mama, just help yourself! That's what I do when I'm feeling sad - I help myself with what I need and I feel a lot better". It really did help, actually.

So, thanks again to you wonderful women and now I'm off to the store. I have my favourite step class tonight which I'm looking forward to also.

Pedal- I started to reply to your previous post and then saw that you explained that it was the food issues and not the housework. So I am editing my response now.

Your daughter is very sweet! How cute. Kids are such a wonderful thing! They can make you smile when nothing else can. I love it when my kids cheer me up and make me feel better than any adult could possibly do!

I hope things get better for you!

    Hey ladies!

Pedal- Isnt it amazing how the lil ones we have can be so intuitive?? They often have a simple fix for an issue we think is complex..lol

Welcome new ladies to the group! You will enjoy it! This is a great group for motivation and support

Today was crazy for me! And not over yet lol I feel the next week will be crazy as well for me..3 major tests next Mon and Tues and I got my car back finally but it has to go BACK to the shop again Monday for work they forgot and to redo some paint that looks bubbled a lil! And other small appts and work this weekend and such as well ARGH! :noway:

Foodwise today- cinnamon raisin bar/fiber one cereal skim milk for bfast/lunch-turkey and provolone wrap and baby carrots/ snack- handful of almonds, half a kashi bar/dinner- red beans and rice mix with turkey sausage -about 1 cup and a salad!
No formal exercise today yet again- but if I can, I am going to go up and down the stairs here at my apt for about 30min after I put the lil one to bed!

Q for you all... especially those who work, go to school, run their own business as well as run a home- How do you manage it all?? Do you go through periods- a few days or a week or so- where you dont have time in the day to exercise formally?? If so, how do you handle it mentally?? I havent been able to do alot these past fews weeks- yesterday and today the only formal exercise Ive been able to get in was to do my PT exercises. I feel totally guilty/awful/failure-ish when I cant get atleast 20-30min of exercise in!

Okay well kinda a long post for me today sorry bout that :ohwell:

Ill check back in just a bit -gotta go make a salad and get dinner off the stove

    Hi All,

Welcome newcomers. :flowerforyou: You've come to the right place for support. Lately, it involves a lot of reading.

Pedal, Planning is key for me. Also keep track of all your calories & try to drink your water. The last thing you want is too put those pounds back on, just to have to lose them again.

Katy, Life does get overwhelming. I have to admit I let my house go much more than I would like. I will eat more frozen dinners when I get busy. One big help is I have a freezer and like to cook in large amounts 6 pounds of meat at a time and freeze it in several small packages. It is easy to pull out some grilled chicken breast and toss it on a bed of lettuce and call it a salad, throw it in a wrap or on some rice, even some spaghetti topped with a little sauce. Just keep losing weight as an important goal in your life, it's way too easy to send it to the back burner til you get more time, which rarely seems to come.

I really have to get this homework done. Have a good evening everyone.

OMG ladies! Now I know what it's like to miss a day! I can't even begin to catch up on posts right now. BUT...WELCOME NEWCOMERS! SO happy to have you! My day today was great...BUSY, but great! I ate well all day long. Ended up working late and missed my workout, then my hubby called (it's his birthday) and he was having a bad day so we went to AppleBees for his birthday dinner. I ate a few things from the appetizer sampler, had a red apple sangria and the WW Chili-lime chicken salad. SO...not too horrible, but without my workout, did end up going over for day #2 this week...VERY mad about that!:grumble: But...it won't happen again...I PROMISE! Not this week anyway. Now...we are headed out again to meet up with his twin brother for a drink...:grumble: and then home to hop in the hot tub for a while before bed. SO...haven't planned food for tomorrow yet and no more time to chat. BUT...I promise I will make good choices tomorrow and NO WAY missing Step class. I'll check back tomorrow evening for a little longer...this missing all day is gonna KILL me! But...that's how she goes.

Take care my little girlies and good night!

    Thanks ladies,

I'm having that "hitting rock-bottom" feeling today so I'm feeling like tomorrow will pick up for me again. My friend is gone, I made a HUGE dent in the cleaning with help from DH today, and Friday is my birthday which I ALWAYS look forward to  Friday I'll be going out with friends to a restaurant called Tapa Bar but I'll make the best choice I can, and Ava and I are going to make cupcakes as my birthday cake so I can have just one and be done with it.

I also made a very very important discovery today that answers a LOT of questions I've had over the last couple of weeks: I have systemic yeast right now. It has made me anemic, lethargic, TOTALLY craving starch and sugar, and just understanding why my body has been feeling like this really helps me find my motivation again. I PROMISE that tomorrow will be a perfect day. I love having perfect days and they always make me feel so much better. I don't have a scheduled work out but I will get a DVD in (Turbo Jam or Shred), a decent walk to the dog park, and my nutrition will be 100% on-point. It will be a little more complicated because I have to be careful to stave off this yeast but hey, just one more reason to eat extra-clean!

Kristin, I'm so glad your day was good. We missed you!

Katy, HOT new picture! You look wonderful - so healthy!

Deb, I have a bunch of chicken breasts in the freezer that I'm going to thaw this weekend and grill. Thanks for those tips!

Welcome newcomers! Sorry I've been a party-pooper today. It's been a rough couple of weeks but I promise I have a happy cheerleader inside that's just WAITING to come leaping out again

Well, time to sort laundry and get to bed.
    Good night gals

Hi ladies, would you mind if I joined in with this thread? I am in desperate need of being accountable to someone other than myself and everyone seems so supportive here.

I am a SAHM and have twin girls who just turned 3 on Tuesday and a 5 year old son. Life is very busy and I started running this past year and am currently addicted to it and will be running my first half marathon in 2.5 weeks!

I gained weight last summer when we moved as I had no time to exercise and continued eating the massive amounts of food that I usually need to keep my weight stable when I do exercise. I haven't gained weight in a long time due to running but I definitely need to lose weight in order to fit into winter clothes. I currently run about 4 times/week but need to really focus on additional exercise such as weights/toning. I am very tired of being at this weight...

good morning, good morning, good morning.........
how is everyone today? great glad to hear everyone is starting their day on track, now for lunch think of how well breakfast was. and make lunch just as good. dinner will be the best yet of the day. it will top off a great day on track!!!!!
what, do i hear a treadmill going, or someones ipod? good for you. i am heading in to do my recumbant bike. my right foot is a little sore and swollen this morning, need to rest it. (grumbles; hate being a diabetic). i am so glad everyone is getting their exercise in today. even if it is just in short 10 mins walks. it all adds up and amounts to something. i have started parking farther out in the parking lots.
we all CAN DO THIS. it's life changes we are making to be around for our kids, grandkids, some greatgrands. like it or not life is going to get in our way, and we have to barge through as if it's nothing. ok, so you have a little more than you should. did you eat the whole thing? most likely not, but, you would have before. be proud of how far you have come. it shows, and you feel GREAT!!!!

done with my little pep talk this morning.
kat... your pic looks FAB!! keep up the great work
strawberry... 1 slice to start with. see who makes it and go from there on if you might be able to have 2.

kistin...glad you day went well, tell DH happy birthday...
    kd...welcome....
cass...hope you are doing good today.

    Good Morning All,

Pedal- I hope your day goes as planned, but remember if its not perfect its ok. You just need to make progress to get back on track.

Katy- You look fabulous darling! It must feel good to take a great photo. I can't wait to do that.

Chipper- What a bummer ; a sore foot. I hope it gets better soon.

Kristen- Now the birthdays are over & you can get back on track.

I had a great feeling after doing the shred dvd this morning. Feeling stronger and more endurance, I'd like to keep going and do some more, but I have many other things that need attention today.

I have been craving an ice cream, I may indulge a bit & go get some skinny cow or weight watchers frozen treat. Have a great day everyone:happy:

    Today:
    Homemade egg mcmuffin & coffee
    apple & tea (unsweetened)
mini ham & turkey sub & popcorn
homemade lite cookie (see recipe below) & skim milk
    corn on cob, tabouli, salad
    skinny cow????

For anyone with a sweet tooth here is the COOKIE RECIPE -Chocolate Chip 105 calories per serving

    Lite Chocolate chip cookies

    1 egg white
    ¼ C. sugar
    1 Tbs. brown sugar
    1 Tbs. corn syrup
    1Tbs. shortening
    1 ½ Tbs. egg substitute
    ¾ C. all-purpose flour
    ¼ tsp. + a pinch of salt
    ¾ tsp. baking soda
    ½ tsp. baking powder
    ½ C. mini chocolate chips

    1. Preheat the oven to 325°
    2. Beat the egg white until thick
    3. Add the granulated sugar to the egg white and continue beating until the mixture forms soft peaks.
    4. While beating, add the brown sugar, corn syrup, shortening and egg substitute.
    5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder.
    6. Combine the dry mixture with the wet and mix well. Add the chocolate chips and incorporate into the dough.
    7. Divide the dough in half, then roll each portion into a long, thin log about the same diameter as a nickel and wrap each in plastic wrap. Put the dough into the refrigerator and chill it for a couple hours ( I used the freezer)
    8. When the dough has thoroughly chilled, remove each log of dough from the plastic wrap and cut into ¼ “ thick slices. Place slices on a cookie sheet coated lightly with nonstick spray about ½” apart, and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies turn light brown.

Makes 12 dozen bite size cookies
    Serving size – 13 cookies
    Fat – Per serving 3.3G
    Calories – Per serving 105

Hey there everyone... Have done pretty well eating today. Well, maybe not as well rounded as normal, but my FIL is in the cardiac unit at the hospital and it kind of has been catch as I can. Heck, I even mixed my protein powder in with a gas station cappuchino!

Needless to say, no exercise today, and so it looks like I may blow over my calories, because I'm doing a quick dinner for everyone (including me) of hamburger stroganoff...

Breakfast: Cinnamon oatmeal with 1 TBSP raisins and 1 TBSP slice almonds and 1/4 c milk
Snack 1: Wasn't hungry, so just a yoplait light apple turnover yogurt.
Lunch: 8 oz gas station cappuchino with protien powder in my shaker.
Snack 2: Starving, but forgot my knife to cut my apple to dip in p.butter. So, only apple
Dinner: browned hamburger with stroganoff noodles, some veggie (and the kids get garlic dipped ciabatta bread--me too if I can't resist).

Haven't drunk my water like usual though... Only 64 oz so far. By now I'm usually near 100 or over.

Going to try and make it to the gym tomorrow, not sure if I'll find the time. The hospital, a birthday party for the 11 year old, and a swim meet for the 15 year old. Maybe I'll walk around the school during the meet.

evening all ladies.....how has your great/balanced/healthy dinner going. my DH made dinner tonight. i had cod w/roma tomatoes, cottage cheese with beets, summer veggie mix and 1/2 cup WWrice. all so good to top off a great day of eating.....i didn't do my bike. instead i mowed the front and 1/2 the back yard. ran out of gas, but, burned 1002 cals. tomorrow i will finish the back.

pettmybunny...mind if i call you bunny? as far as hospitals, hope you don't mind a few hints on staying on track while having loved ones in the hospital.
    1) pack a small lunch box cooler. (mine will hold a 6 pack, so small) pack as much as you can in it, fruit, sandwich, snacks. freeze a few bottles of water. (i put mine in the freezer as soon as i get up). put, water and food, (if you don't have small cooler) and a book, magazines in a beach bag. there you are set for the day.
    2) start the crock pot with something for dinner. will be waiting when you get home.
    3) if parking in a parking garage park on the 2nd, or 3rd. leavel. and take the stairs. you are carrying weight from your beach bag. good workout. you can park higher if you like. if a reg. parking lot park way out.
    4) while you at the hospital take the stairs from one floor to the next. than catch the elevator.
    5) have lunch outside if possible and than take a walk around the hosipal before going back to the room.
with all this you eat well, and get some exersice in. you will feel much better. much less stress. i have had my MIL in the hospital many times, and so i have done this all myself allot.
I hope you FIL get well soon.

remember ladies even if you can only fit in 10/20/30 mins of something here or there it still counts, works, does the job. just do it.

    have a super night.
