Twenty Pound Somethings Week 12

Good morning Chipper! I'm here!! It has been slow, hasn't it! CONGRATS on the shorts fitting better!! WOOHOO!! A friend of mine recently gave me some pants she wore between the births of her daughters (and she's usually a really small woman). None of them would be okay to wear out just yet - a little too tight - but I was able to get each of them done up and they range from size 10 to size 12. I don't even understand that!! lol I'm still convincing myself that they must just be large-fitting sizes, but still... I needed a large-fitting 16-18 when I started this!
KD, no worries, everyone thinks he's a little girl My daughter just recently had her first hair cut and she's almost 4. I had a REALLY hard time with that. My son will have to convince me just like she did! I love his long baby hair
Well, we're all sick here which is no fun. I've felt this cold coming on for a couple of days and I'm still not too bad but Ava and Leith have full-on colds :frown:
I haven't planned my meals for the last few days and I KNOW I've gone well over my cals. But I'm finding my birthday pictures really motivating because it's been a LONG time since I've been able to look through pictures without thinking negative thoughts about myself. I want to keep that ball rolling! I have to admit, I'm kind of glad that we're nearing the end of this challenge. I think that having a new challenge and starting back at zero will be nice. It will be fresh, you know?
Okay so WHERE IS EVERYONE??? What are you doing for exercise today? How has the weekend been?
I've had a fabulous weekend and I'm very pleased that my birthday included gifts of a rice steamer and a crockpot. It will really help, I think, when it comes to having healthy options in the middle of the day too!
Alright, Cathy and I are waiting for some more posters!!!0 -
Chipper, that is great about your shorts, I can't wait to have that feeling with all my jeans that I miss wearing so much!
Pedal, hope your colds go away quickly, there is some nasty colds going around here but our house has stayed healthy so far.
I ran a 21.3km run this morning, the last long run until my half marathon in a couple of weeks. It was sooo hard today as the route was full of hills and we have always done our long runs without many hills. I am completely drained, my husband gave me half an hour to nap before he had to take our son to hockey but I think I could've slept the day away, I am hoping that a coffee will perk me up.
After I take Tyson to school tomorrow I am going to go buy the Shred DVD, I found it in one of the stores here so am happy. I definitely need something to motivate me to exercise on non run days.

Hi Ladies,
Chipper- It's so good that you can get into the shorts easier. I just put on a pair of jeans this weekend that are usually tight and they are loose. It's been so long it seemed really strange to have something be a little loose.
I did not keep track of food or cals. this weekend, but I did exercise. I'm stressed about my day tomorrow. What can I have for breakfast on the run? Will I get home and have time to exercise. I did not miss a day exercising this week. I burned around 2650 exercise calories this week. If I have to miss 1 day that won't be too bad. Just hope I'm not starving and eat something I shouldn't. Can't wait til tuesday weigh in, I still expect to lose this week. I'll check in tomorrow evening. I must get back to studying. Test tomorrow.
Have a great night!0 -
Deb, you could put milk/berries/yogurt in a container and then just quickly blend it up for a quick breakfast drink in the morning...I also keep "Quaker oatmeal to go bars" in the house or peanut butter/honey on bread does the trick. Good for you with all your exercising, it motivates me to get more days in!

I love that idea.:flowerforyou:0 -
Hey guys !
Been busy for me the past few days! Chipper- so happy you are getting smaller and you can tell with your shorts- awesome I as well carry alot of my weight in my stomach/abs, I know I will HAVE to have a tummy tuck when I get to the weight I am comfortable at.
So today and yesterday not very good exercise wise. Worked 2 twelve hour shifts so hard to get any exercise in. I did squeeze in a total of 25 min of walking today- and Im about to go walk in my apt's parking lot and/or go up and down stairs for atleast 15 min.
Foodwise today- fiber one cereal, 2percent milk, egg whites, kashi bar, fiber water mix, 2 tomato &basil pizza burgers(lunch and dinner), and,.. a piece of spice cake. Oh it was so yummy
Well Im out of here for now- Check back maybe after I walk for a few min!!

Katy, I delivered twins at 37.5 weeks gestation...by 30 weeks pregnant my belly was measuring a 50 week pregnancy so I was huge by the time I delivered. When I was 15 pounds lighter, my tummy was fine (pretty sad losing all twin pregnancy weight and then regaining some though!). You probably won't need surgery especially if you are losing weight slowly and are doing some ab work.

Hey ladies, new and old! Sorry I disappeared for the weekend. Seems like everyone is getting back on track with things. That is wonderful. I had an awful busy weekend and no time for computer. Its kind of nice though sometimes.
Today was the Portland Marathon. I walked the whole 26.2 miles last year but this year only did the 10K. It was fun though as we got to see the first runners coming in on the course. The was great!
We have a new to us, energetic , dog. She is a brittany. She was found by a friend of mine and has not yet been found by her owner despite alot of attempts to find them. So we will keep her until she is claimed or forever! We have named her Remie.
I have didnt count points at all this weekend(weight watchers) but feel ok about things. I may not loose any weight come tuesday because of this but we shall see.
Pedal- love the pics. You look wonderful! You should be very proud of yourself when looking at those pictures!
Amy0 -
Thanks Amy! Congrats on the 10k too. And a new furry family member! do you already have pets?
Well, here is my plan for tomorrow:
1: homemade porridge of steel cut oats, brown rice, millet, quinoa, flax seeds, chopped pecans and chopped fresh apple plus cinnamon & nutmeg.
2: steamed broccoli & carrots with toasted sesame seeds, olive oil & balsamic vinegar drizzled over top, chocolate protein shake
3: meatballs (left-overs)
4: Ezekiel sodium-free toast w/ hummus, alfalfa sprouts & tomato
5: 7 bean soup, vanilla ice cream protein shake made with skim milk
6: steamed green peas w/ homemade olive butter
I have my dance class tomorrow evening which will be my main exercise unless I manage to get something else in during the day. I'm hoping the weather lets up so I can take my little guys to the park or to a field with the soccer ball or something!!
I'm not looking forward to Tuesday's check-in, but I do know that I'm back on track so whatever the case may be, I know that what's coming up is allllll goooood :glasses:
I wish everyone a very healthy, happy day tomorrow so we can close off this weird week on a great note all around. One last week to go in this challenge, so let's make it a good one!!!!0 -
Good morning everyone!
Pedal- we do have pets. We have a yellow lab who is just 7 years old this month, we have a cat that we got 3 years ago as a kitten and now this new furry friend. We will see how it works. She likes to chase the cat. I am sure it will stop.
Ok. Its monday and time to get back on track. My weekends are not falling apart as bad as they used to but I am still treating this all differently on the weekends. Mainly the food. And I always want to kick myself come monday. Its like I am a broken record! Lets hope I have not hurt tuesdays weigh in!
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

HI everyone....
Feeling like crap today! Had a fight with hubby last night....ate too much....feeling like a big balloon failure. I'm trying really hard to get back on track even though I don't feel into it today.
Wish me luck....0 -
Hey ladies!!
So I did PT this morning and wore my HRM...I burned 370 cals in 40 min- and today was a light day! I cant imagine how many I burn on a day like last Friday!!! Probably 800 or more! WOW! :noway: No wonder Im so depleted after I get done!
So food wise today- bfast fiber one cereal with 2%milk/ no morning snack- didnt have time!/ lunch: luna bar chocolate pecan pie (eh, it was okay probably wont buy it again though) and ill eat some carrots in a lil bit to go with lunch/ afternoon snack: I have no idea, dont have anything else with me besides some fiber water mix!!/ dinner- no idea either probably something with grilled chicken!
I sadly am on the "I need to go grocery shopping" train this week! I probably wont have time til Wed or Thur which is bad bc I am running out of my kind of stuff lol I may end up doing a slice of bread with some PB and soup for dinner!
My exercise today so far is PT and I may take my daughter to the park before or after dinner today and let her play while I walk! I wanted to use the gym here at school and do the elliptical for 20 min or so but I didnt have time to get my gym stuff together this morning! Running SO late after PT and was 30 min late to class and today we had a test! Ah! But its all good now. I may still pop into the gym for a few minutes if I have the time at the end of the day! Im dressed in gym likeish clothes anyway lol.
Okay well I hope everyone is having a great day!! Check in later!

Hey Ladies. I didn't get to check in this weekend because I was camping (I don't think I would have wanted to log what I ate anyways...) I did well all weekend until sunday ... not good. :grumble: BUT I am back on track today and determined to get down to 146 this week ... Today I brought lots of fruit and veggies to work ... so I can munch all day w/o the guilt... tonight I am going to do the 30 day shred and a hour walk-run! Hopefully I can stay on track this time :blushing: I may not be able to post much this week I am going to be traveling for a bunch of meetings... but good luck to everyone, keep up the great work!!!!! You are all totally inspiring. :flowerforyou:0
-
SBB, camping can be a tough one!! Welcome back on track!
Where is everyone?!?!?!
Alright, I'll try later Must prep supper before dance class!0 -
Hi Ladies,
Amy, Wow, that's great -you did a 10K walk. Talk about inspiring. Good for you!
Katy, It's great those PT sessions will count for burned calories.
Cass, What a bummer. A fight with the hubby is always so hard to avoid emotional eating. I hope things are better for you today.
Well, I'm tired and hungry and didn't have time to exercise today, plus I have a ton of homework and a test tomorrow morning.:frown: I did pretty good with the eating today, but I don't have any calories left and I'm still hungry.
I am really pleased with my progress so far. Losing these ten pounds has been fairly easy with the support from all of you. I really am not sure how these next few weeks will go for me. I am overwhelmed, but will try my best to stick with it.
Have a great evening!0 -
Hey Pedal! I love love your new pictures..they are GREAT!!! You look fantastic!!!
Okay so went for a walk at the park- 30 minutes.
Dinner was chicken roll up- just something I tossed together for me. (Chicken breast, shredded chz and roma tomato rolled in a low carb tortilla) and I also ate about 1/2 cup of mac-n-chz.
Im hoping I broke 200lbs when we weigh in tomorrow morning.. here's hoping!
Deb- Just try toplan ahead with meals and exercise- that is the only way I can manage to do it combined with school and everything else! Like tomorrow I have class at 930a but I am planning to get to school early and walk the track and/or jump on the elliptical for a few minutes! I just have to make myself make time for it on the busy days! And if I miss it I try not to beat myself up too much about it- tomorrow is a new day Good luck with your test tomorrow!!
KDSmith..Unfortunetly I know I will have to have a tummy tuck- my weight loss doctor has checked me out and confirmed it. I didnt just gain 50lbs over a long period..I gained about 110lbs in less than 3 years- granted I was pregnant for 10 months out of that- but that is a relatively short time to gain so much so my skin was just extremely stretched wayyy too fast. I do core exercises so that helps with the abs but even when I get to goal weight I will have excess loose skin that will have to go!
Okay Im heading to the shower! May check back in a lil bit :huh:0 -
Hello ladies,
Thanks Cathy for the advice a few days ago about how to fit in everything around a relative in the hospital. My FIL actually went home on Friday evening, and is doing much better now.
Unfortunately, I did HORRIBLE over the weekend. Stress over the birthday cake, fighting with my DH (over the stupid birthday cake), a horde of kids here for the night, and then just general laziness hit me hard. I had a Hardee's thickburger meal on Friday, at three in the afternoon, after not having eaten all day (yes--I do know better). Then a hotdog and mac-n-cheese at about 9:30 for dinner (Yes, I know better about that too). Pancakes drowning in syrup the next morning, with a few sausages on the side. I tried to be good at lunch, cottage cheese and fruit, but slipped off the wagon again and ate a couple of slices of pizza and a few poppers for dinner with the family. Next morning, I ate a yogurt and banana for breakfast... went to church, then took my teenager shopping for new jeans. Both of us were starving, so Taco Bell for lunch. Pork roast for dinner though, but teamed up with real garlic mashed potatoes.
All in all, a horrendous weekend. And no exercise to balance it out at all! Surprisingly though, I stepped on the scale this morning and was down a half pound?!?!? How the heck did that happen? Not that I'm complaining!
Today, very much back on track, rice crispies and skim milk for breakfast.
a string cheese and goldfish crackers for snack
An apple and peanut butter for lunch (didn't make it to pick up a salad at the store on the way to work)
I had every intention of making a protein shake for snack, but a kid schedule snaffu had me dashing!
spaghetti squash with spag. sauce and green beans for dinner.
I still have tons of calories to eat today, and lots of protein left... I'll need to be more conscious of this tomorrow.

Hey Hey girlies! Today was a GOOD day for me! I ate great, made it to the gym for BodyPump and have some remaining calories for a snack later! YAY! I worked later than I had hoped and didn't get a run in at the gym like normal, but did burn 450 calories is BodyPump! So...tomorrow is start to week 13! The FINAL week! CRAZY! And BOY...am I SCARED to weigh in! But...I am feeling motivated again and ready to start a new week! Well...gotta run, but I will start a new post early tomorrow morning...I PROMISE!
Have a great night my friends! And Cass...I hope your day gets better! I miss you sister friend!:flowerforyou: I miss ALL you gals! I hate not being able to be on here so much! Oh well...time to get some stuff done! Look for the new post in the morning!0 -
Robin, I hope this isn't over-stepping my bounds, but I think that you will find a huge difference in your ability to stay on track if you include fewer processed foods in your day and focus on as many whole foods as possible. Even string cheese is super-processed. Whole foods will spend longer in your body so you won't feel ravenous after an hour, and your blood sugar will be stable and that helps keep your wits about you when choosing your next meal. You can make really fabulous meals and snacks with whole foods and you will really feel the difference in your body. I recommend the Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook by Tosca Reno to everyone I can because it has amazing and delicious recipes and focuses on real food.
Katy, thanks!
Okay, I'm going to make myself late for dance... back later!0 -
Hi There. I sure love the Quit Smoking Ticker. Where did you get that??? I've been smoke free for about 6 weeks and would love to get one0

See you in the morning on check-in day!!!0 -
No Pedal, you're not overstepping your boundaries. I know yesterday wasn't my best eating day, but on the two days that I work, a lot of times I do the smaller (and easier to eat quickly) finger food meals because I don't actually take a lunch break. This way, I can snack at my desk, every 3 hours, and still be able to leave work early so I can pick up kids for activities. On my days off, I am usually cooking my mini meals. It doesn't help right now that we've been trying to empty out our freezer so we can clean it before winter and there isn't much in there to choose from either... lol
The weekend was just a big puddle of nerves and stress. I'm sooooo not usually one to pig out on the fast food! But... weighed in today at 202, still...
Today is
6:30 cinnamon vanilla protein shake made with almond milk
8:00 (ish) at the gym for a cardio and weight workout
10:00 cinamon oatmeal (made with milk) and 1TBSP each raisins and sliced almonds
1:00 spinach salad with tomatoes, mushrooms, red onion, and some seared tuna chunks
4:00 banana with 1TBSP peanut butter
6:30 not sure exactly yet, am going to the store today... Thinking chicken breast over the leftover spaghetti squash...0 -
