Twenty Pound Somethings Week 13 (Final Week!)

I guess I'm learning not to post my planned meals in the morning too, although I'm not too far off right now. Breakfast, the scrambled eggs with assorted veggies that I wrote about, although I was running behind, so only half of the veggies I listed. Out of habit, I poured the almond milk in the blender to make my shake with, so I mixed it at home and took it in a travel mug to work. It wasn't the vanilla cinnamon though, I made it with a chocolate protein mix, added a banana and 2 TBSP peanut butter. Oh my gosh! The best thing I've had in a long time! Head to toe quiver each time I took a sip! Lunch was the salad... but I pushed everything off a bit to fit my schedule more. I just snarffed down some cottage cheese and grapes. Dinner I have no clue, I've still got almost 800 calories, and tons of carbs and protein to eat. Not so much fat... that darned peanut butter gets me every time!!
Cathy, I go to a store that accepts local competitor coupons. Many stores have switched to the savings cards, but we still have a couple that put coupons in their ads. Most of what I save is with those. No place here does double coupons anymore. If only....
DebLaf, I have a vanilla cake batter protein shake powder that I order online. I just blend it with
Blue Diamond Almond milk and sprinkle in cinnamon. Sometimes I throw in a handful of berries. Once, I did cinnamon and applesauce, and sprinkled crushed Kashi Go Lean on it. Tasted just like an apple pie. After the shake I had earlier today, I'm thinking about mixing that, throwing it in the freezer and eating it like ice cream...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm0 -

Good Morning All,
I'm feeling frustrated about my hunger level. Went over in calories again yesterday. I am hungry ; I did get all my water in. Most of the day I ate very healthy, but still slightly hungry. By dinner time I am really hungry, still hungry after dinner and had a mini-binge. I always have my 6 mini-meals/snacks and this usually works great for me (until now). I'm afraid this week may be a gain instead of a loss, unless I can nip this in the bud today.
I will post my meal plan later. For now it is a coffee, while I try to figure things out & see what thoughts you all might have.
Pedal- I will look into the books. I don't shop much so I have not seen them in the store yet.
Katy- Let's try to have a better day together.
Cass-Hug
pettmybunny-Your protein shake sounds sweet, Is it healthy? What is the name brand?
Hi to anyone not mentioned.
Have a good day ladies0 -
Morning! Just got to work and thought I'd check in quick! Last night was great...I had remaining calories after dinner, so had 1 med banana sliced into 4 tbsp (2-2tbsp servings) of cool whip free with 2 reduced fat graham crackers crumbled on top...YUM! It was a FABULOUS dessert and left me with only 82 remaining calories when I went to bed. Worked out well.
Here's the plan for today:
B-single oatmeal, med. banana, PlumSmart Light juice, multivitamin.
S-2 c. coffee, 2 tbsp. sugar-free creamer, Kashi TLC breakfast bar.
L-Turkey and Cheese sandwich, baby carrots, AE YoLite yogurt, diet coke.
S-1 c. green grapes, Kashi TLC Cherry Dark Chocolate granola bar.
D-???No clue!
Exercise plan--probably off today. I have to take my car in after work and I have a bunch of errands to run, so I may not get any exercise in today. After my food planned so far, I will have 300 calories remaining for the day, which really isn't much, so without exercise, I may go over in calories just a bit. We will just have to see how the day goes.
Cathy...YAY for fitting in old/smaller jeans!!!! I tried on one of my older pairs after reading your post this morning and mine fit also!!!! YAY!!!
Rhiannon...I will check out the Eat Clean Diet cookbook...sounds FABULOUS!
Deb...Try having more protein and fiber in each small meal...it helps fill you up more. Also, I know you said you are getting all your water in, but maybe you want to try and have even more...I know this helps fill me up. Also, on days when I'm hungry, I still restrict myself the best I can...try keeping yourself busy...you will forget about it if you don't really need the food. If while staying busy, you are still really hungry, then your body probably really does need more food. These are just some ideas. Hope you figure it out.:flowerforyou:
Katy...Sorry you had a blah day yesterday. Hope today starts on a brighter note!:flowerforyou:
bunny...Sounds like you are doing good. I understand about the peanut butter...I LOVE the stuff! What is your real name by the way? I saw someone referring to April...is that you?
Cass...LAGUM...start another wonderful day!!!!
Amy...GOOD morning!!!
And there's a Kim on here also, right? Good morning Kim!
Have a fabulous morning ladies and I'll check back around lunchtime!0 -
Just a quick hello this morning! I will not be around a computer all day long! I am driving my sister in law and some of her friends around Oregon's wine country for a mutual friends Birthday. Then we are coming back to catch my little one's soccer game and then out to dinner for Thai food. I have never had Thai food personally so wouldnt know where to begin.
Everyone have a WONDERFUL Friday!

Hey all
Thanks for the well wishes for a better day!
Started out with PT- burned 726 cals in 70 minutes.
Bfast- protein bar
snack- cottage chz
lunch- chinese buffet (yuck)
snack- baby carrots, fiber one bar or fiber water mix
dinner- protein shake with somethin else maybe (not 100% sure on this bc I will be at work during dinner!)
Yes, had chinese buffet for lunch - Haleys dad took us after we went and picked out pumpkins. It wasnt very good- I ate 1/4cup of 3 diff things-mostly veg though- and 1/2c of sesame chicken/ had 2 ragoons & a veg roll/ no rice though bc i only eat the steamed white rice, and there wasnt any on the buffet so I just skipped the rice. When we got back home, I had a small corner of pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting that we picked up at the pumpkin farm- very yummy but frosting extremely rich!!
Not sure if I will get any other exercise in today- working from 130p-8p. Wont be home again til 830p so it will depend how tired I am! Working 12 hr shifts Sat and Sun as well!!
May or may not check in again til later-
Hope you all have a great day!!!

Hey where is everyone?
Cass, I think it was you who mentioned a financial book that was very helpful. I looked through the last month of posts and could not find it. Will you please post the information again?Hope your having a good day today.
I am having a blah kind of day. I'm overwhelmed with so much to do, worries about economy, etc.
I did just get a walk in. Not nearly as many burned calories as I would like, but it's better than nothing. Hope everyone is having a better day than I am.0 -
Awe Deb **HUGS**I'm sorry you're having a not-so-great day. Just remember...you get a brand new day tomorrow!
I'm just getting ready to leave work and take my car in for new tires, brakes, oil change...the works! Gonna do some browsing in the clothing store next to the car place...walking around there outta burn some calories, right!? Well...I hope everyone has a good afternoon/evening, and I'll check back later!0 -
Hey everyone. Pretty busy day for me.
Hubby and I are having a night out together...we are going to see Quarantine. We haven't been to a movie in at least a year. We saw that movie because we had free tickets...and guess what. Hubby got free tickets from work..AND...I have an old $25.00 gift cert..so we are eating for free too...hahahaha
The book is Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey....you can get them at Costco for cheap! Dave Ramsey .com check him out...HE IS THE MAN! He has been on a non stop media circut for the last week. People really respect him and want him on their show to give his perspective of what is happening right now.
With dinner at the movies tonight...I'm going to say this is not going to be a good day for me food wise. EEK....
Babygirl is staying the night with my parents, so I can get up tomorrow and get a good workout in without a 3 year old running around at my feet.
I hope everyone is having a good day!0 -

Deb, not sure if this article will help but here it is!
Economic Crisis Takes Toll on Emotional Health
WEDNESDAY, Oct. 8 (HealthDay News) -- Wall Street's roller coaster ride is costing Americans more than money: It's costing them sleepless nights and a heap of emotional distress, experts say.
"People are anxious, and they are more anxious if they are nearer retirement age and have their 401k in the stock market and money in the banks," said Linda Rosenberg, president of the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, in Washington, D.C. "When people get anxious . . . it begins to affect the whole family. There are marital fights over 'What do we do now?' Kids get involved when parents are fighting and have their own emotional upset."
In some ways, the current upset may hit closer to home than 9/11, affecting larger numbers of people, added Rosenberg, who reported that mental health centers are getting more calls.
"This economic crisis has been going on for months and months and months," said Josh Klapow, an associate professor of health-care organization and policy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. "If you take the gas prices, and you couple that with home foreclosures, and you couple that with major lending agencies and investment banks going under and retail prices going up, and you couple that with a stock market that crashes plus a bailout followed by a stock market crash, you get anxiety compounding anxiety."
The uncertainty of even top leaders not knowing when the situation is going to be fixed, not to mention the lack of control many people feel, is only aggravating the matter.
Wall Street workers are probably feeling the pain even more.
"I'm seeing a lot of sleep issues, people with gastrointestinal illness and chronic stomach issues, and people who are sicker in terms of colds and coughs and immune issues," said Kenneth Ruge, a staff minister and counselor at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City who also has many clients on Wall Street. "I'm seeing more Xanax and Ambien for sleep aids and anxiety control. The levels of alcohol consumption, I think, are up somewhat among some of my clients."
A recently released poll found that Americans are indeed more stressed than they were in the spring.
But there may be a silver lining in this cloudy sky. Experts have the following advice to help cope and lessen anxiety:
* Frank Farley, a professor of psychological studies in education at Temple University, said the four "C's" can help people cope. Stay calm. "Don't panic. People who panic do very dangerous things in their life," Farley advised. "Some amount of anxiety is healthy, because it motivates you to do things, but too much anxiety can interfere with your ability to think straight. Be cautious and careful and have confidence. "We have gone through financial crises and recessions, and we have always come out of them," Farley said. "Have confidence that we will again. It's that confidence multiplied 300 million times that will get us out of this. This whole meltdown to a large and significant degree is fueled by psychology."
* Take media reports with a hefty dose of salt. "I sure wish some of the pundits would shut up," Farley said. "We have the specter of the Great Depression, and it fuels fear and panic. This nation has survived incredible things." Ruge reported that many clients are going on a "media fast," refusing to read or watch news reports and refraining from checking the stock market averages except occasionally.
* Do something. "Translate your worries into action," Klapow recommended. "Any small action that will control some of your finances will be very productive for reducing anxiety. Focus on what you can do."
* Maintain a life balance. "If you become consumed with all of the financial information coming out, you will drive yourself physically and emotionally into the ground," Klapow said. "It's important to eat right, engage in pleasurable activities, and strike a balance between attention paid to the financial crisis and attention paid to your well-being."
* Take stock of your life. "It's time to reassess how you handle money and how you handle your life," Farley said. "If you get laid off or have a reduction in hours, maybe this is a time to consider, are you happy in this line of work anyway?" Farley said.0 -
Hi Girls,
Thanks for all the info.
Cass, I'm definately looking into that book.
Kristen, Thanks for always being there.
Pedal, you're right the article was helpful. I was feeling anxious about all thats going on in our economy right now. I am trying hard not to panic, but maybe I'm learning something about myself and what makes my eating habits get out of control.
I'm feeling a little better. Hopefully, I will pull it together tomorrow.
Have a great evening ladies. :flowerforyou:0 -

Hi everyone, just thought I'd come on and say hello and goodbye before I go away for the weekend...I will keep track of my calories but doubt I'll get on the computer much. I am hoping I can resist my mother in law's fabulous pies and cookies and sweets all weekend!! My normal long 20k run is only 6k this weekend as we are cutting back for the race next weekend...that means I can't eat an additional 1800 calories like normal after a 20k Sunday run...how will I survive??!!!
Have great weekends!
Kim0 -
Quick check-in for me too... Thanksgiving weekend!! YUM!!! I'm hosting a dinner tomorrow then we're attending one Monday.
Here's what I'm cooking! (And I started tonight so the turkey can have priority tomorrow!)
Rosemary, Sage & Orange Roasted Turkey
Stuffing w/ dried cranberries, apple & cashews
steamed brussels sprouts
butternut squash w/ cinnamon & nutmeg
roasted veggies (purple potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, onion & garlic)
purple cauliflower soup (with leeks, sweet potato, spices... SO good!)
and home made cranberry sauce w/ lime, terragon, shallots & real maple syrup.
My brother is bringing dessert from this amazing vegan bakery here in town so I'm not sure what it will be but it will be GOOD!!
All of the dishes are healthy, low in cals & undesirables, and we'll have awesome left-overs. I loved thanksgiving as a child, but it's also exciting to make new dishes (like the soup and real cranberry sauce from scratch!) and this will be the first thanksgiving I've hosted in a decade!!
Okay bedtime :bigsmile:0 -
happy turkey day to all my canadian friends. need to send an email to my sister she lives in sask.

Good Morning all you lovely ladies,
Pedal & other Canadian; Have a great holiday weekend. Your menu looks wonderful & healthy.
Kim: I'm in awe of you doing all that running. Good for you. I understand how a weekend with the in-laws is hard when there are all those goodies around. Hope you brought yourself some healthy goodies to have instead.
I'm starting to feel better and the day is off to a good start.
1: coffee & sugar free creamer, english muffin, & smart balance
2: apple
3: lean cusine pizza
4; popcorn
5:spaghetti
6: depends on cals left
exercise;
bike ride
Have a great day ladies, I'll check in again later.:flowerforyou:0 -
Hey Hey Ladies! Just checking in...sorry I wasn't back last night. Ran errands most of the evening, so dinner was a little left-over pasta from Tuesday, baby carrots, and some Flour Tortilla chips. Not too great and without the workout, I'm sure I went over a little. Today was a good start...Spinning class this morning and burned 707 calories! WOW! Then home, english muffin with 1 tbsp. natural PB and 1 laughing cow wedge, 1/4 of a canteloupe, coffee with sugar-free creamer, and a TLC breakfast bar. Lunch was a handful of four tortilla chips (those are gone now thank goodness) and a yogurt. BUT...I totally ate a bunch of the Pumpkin Spice Kisses...OMG they are SO good! Need to stay away from those. But...I should be fine with the added calories from my morning spin. I think we are going to grill this evening...it's a BEAUTIFUL day! But first I need to clean out my car, so I will be burning some more calories there I'm sure! Anyways...if I'm not back later, I will check in tomorrow! Have a great Saturday ladies!!!0

Good evening and good weekend everyone! It has been a baaaaaad couple of days for me! Yesterday, the kids had no school, and it was the oldest's birthday. Turned 15. Because there was no school, he wanted his party to start at 2, so kids actually started arriving at 1:30. And kids were coming with friends that weren't invited! I guess they figured his parents would be at work? What kind of party did they think it was?
Anyways, I had gotten up at 5:30 to start his cake, not realizing just how hard it was going to be. Once again, a picture with a LOT of shading, so I mixed about a hundred different shades of color. And I'd be damned if I didn't have to remix a color, because I would use it, think I was done, then darken it for the next shade, then darken it again and again, then realize I needed more of the lighter shade two hours later! It took me until almost 6 to finish it, although towards the end I wasn't working on it too steady because I was trying to get everyone's dinner on the table.
He of course wanted to invite some girls, so we ended up with 6 boys and 5 girls(invited ones anyways), our other three boys and a few neighbor kids who heard the commotion when they were outside playing Red Rover and came over to investigate. Let me tell you, teenage boys are stupid, they are even stupider when girls are around! I kept having to yell "personal space" to one of the "couples" because they were hanging all over each other practically the whole time. They were sitting at the dinner table and finally I looked him in the eye and said "It may not make the two of you uncomfortable to be all over each other like that, but it sure makes me uncomfortable". He apologized, and it made me wish I had said it earlier, because that worked much better than "Personal Space". I drove the girls home at 11, and when I got home a little after midnight, the boys were so much calmer and quieter (the birthday boy was already snoring on the couch). I told them Mr. Anthony would be sleeping on the couch if they needed anything, and I went to bed. I got up at two, and only two of them were still awake. And when I checked them at 6, they were all snoozing. One mom showed up at 8:30 (party was supposed to go until 10ish) and another two kids were here until almost 1:30 before they were picked up.
Anyways, I started out my meals for yesterday well, with cinnamon oatmeal w/ raisins and almonds for breakfast. Cottage cheese and grapes for snack. I started to fix my lunch, but was interrupted by something, and I never ate again until I had a cheeseburger and chips for dinner, which I started eating after the kids were done with their dinner. I kept having kids come and ask for the different things for Rock Band (as if I know--I don't play the game), so it took me from 8 until 9 to actually eat my dinner. I did indulge in a peice of cake and ice cream, but couldn't finish the whole peice. Not very often that I can't eat my cake! Seemed too sweet, so I must be getting used to eating healthier.
Today, we made pancakes and sausages for the kids for breakfast, so that's what I started out with too. Then, leftover cheeseburger for lunch, and I fell asleep on the couch for the rest of the day. I actually just woke up, and still am not hungry. Still tired though! I remember when I was younger, and I could be up all night, sleep two hours, work all day, and do it again the next night. OMG, I've turned into my parents! lol
Deb- the shake mix I use is SlimBody Matrix by GNS Inc. Not the GNS stores that you find in the malls, but I order from globalnutrition.com. My friend who has a family that are all health food nuts (they won't cook in teflon even, because it causes cancer supposedly) says it's pretty good, but low on fiber. It's got 140 calories, 3g fat (.75g saturated), 17.5mg cholesterol, 9.5 carbs, 3g fiber, 2.5g sugar, 19g protein. 10% on a whole bunch of vitamins. I generally eat one a day, sometimes 2 if I'm busy.
Anyhow, hope everyone is doing well, see you all tomorrow!
Robin0 -
good mornin' ladies....
april....aren't teenages just so much fun. my kids (27 & 29 yr old) got along today with each other. they normaly fight like cats and dogs. so that made for a more enjoyable day.
everyone else...hope your weekend is going along as planned.
we went to this pizza place for dinner last night. i wasn't sure on the best choices, so i just ordered a huge chef salad. i had a few bites of DH's stomboli to satifiy my want. i had 1000 calories for dinner, but, was getting pinchy with them. that is my problem some days. i get pinchy, just like i do when my check book balance gets low. i need to stop being so pinchy.
it was a good family day. spent a few hours at the festival. than picked up son-in-law for subway lunch. packed in 8 people there and had a nice lunch. than went on to house hunting. sons car broke down had to get it to his house, contiuned on with the hunt and found a good place for him. than by the time his car was fixed and all the driving and looking it was dinner and it was 7 at night. we got home about 8:45, and it rained all day. boy did our poor doggy need to go out. he had been in his crate for the whole day. thank goodness son didn't come to our house we were beat and just wanted to sleep. he took his friend home. she is a girl, but, they aren't together. we teased them at dinner. they have been hanging out with each other for a few weeks now. they have known each other for a few years.
poor DH had to get up at 1:30am to go and kill some bugs at a fast food place. i think he got back home and back to bed at 3/4. so it's real quit right now, he's sleeping and i have alone time. going out to big lots soon.
hope everyone has a super weekend.
cathy0 -

2:banana
3:salad w/ chicken breast
4: apple
5; tacos

Goooooooood morning all!
Our Thanksgiving dinner was SO good last night. I did well all day too, a good breakfast and a light lunch and not TOO much food at supper. Sadly, my brother brought over skor cheesecake for dessert and I had a full piece. :grumble: :grumble: :grumble:
Today is a lot of clean up and trying to get some exercise in!!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend0 -
Quick check in from me! Yesterday was okay...but those darn pumpkin spice kisses...since Thursday I've probably eaten close to the whole bag!:noway: :grumble: But they will be gone soon and I'm not buying more! Today has been kind of lazy but now I need to get to cleaning. Might try and take the dogs for a walk/jog later...we will see what the time allows. Still plenty to do around the house. Hoping to see a loss on Tuesday for our FINAL weigh in! SO exciting!!!! I will also start our new challenge that morning, so anyone interested, look for it! We will aim to lose 15-20% of our remaining weight to lose! Six weeks...we can do it!!! Anyways...back to cleaning for me. Have a great Sunday gals!!!0
-
what a nice relaxing day. until son came over than his girlfriend showed up with her mom. now they have been here for a few hours playing the wii.
on tuesday for me when i do my weigh in i am also taking measurements. than take them again in six weeks.
doing real good today for eating, can't wait to see the scale. having pork loin for dinner and a squash casserole and rice or something to go with it. today is my no exercise day. have 6 of 8 water done.
see everyone tomorrow.....
my new pic was taken yesturday morning and in my profile i posted a pic of when i started this long road. it's the one with three of me. 260's weight, 235/240's than last week 219. i don't see much difference. DH does....0 -
Cathy, I just looked at your pictures, and I can see a difference! You have a neck! There's a picture of you sitting with a little girl, and you're wearing a red shirt. Compare that picture to this latest one. You're looking good gal! Congratulations! And more than how you look, how do you feel, I bet it's a lot better too!
-Robin0 -
Hi All,
Pedal, glad to hear you had a good Thanksgiving day and didn't go overboard. One piece of cheesecake won't hurt. If you always deny yourself that is what could lead to real over eating.
Kristen, Thanks for the warning about the pumpkin spice cookies. Hope we all see loses on Tue.
Cathy, Yes there is a difference. You're looking good. Keep it up.
I burned a lot of exercise cals today, and I feel very good about it. After a workout I feel strong, sort of like I can feel my ab muscles. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Tomorrow is a rough day for me, so it will be a late check in day. But I do have my fruit, yogurt, & milk ready for my morning smoothie.
Have a great day. Can't wait til Tue.:flowerforyou:0 -
Good afternoon everyone! I have been absent this weekend. Very busy. Did pop in to read a few posts. Eating and exercise was awful this weekend for me. It started Friday with Thai food. I had never been and didnt know what to expect. I liked it and ate too much of it. Then Saturday was a family gathering and it was hard. It was mexican, which is my absolute favorite! I had 2 carnitas soft tacos. Plus chips and guacamole! Yikes. Today I have not eaten much at all. I did spend about 2 hours cleaning my car inside and out. I have not sat down much all day. I always feel good about those days.
Kristin- I have been wanting to try those pumpkin spice kisses. I am a sucker for anything pumpkin! I will have to try them before they go away!
Cathy- your pics really do show a difference. Congrats on how far you have come!
Pedal- glad to hear that your Thanksgiving went well! I can never turn down cheesecake. I had some friday and loved every bite of it!
Cant wait for Tuesday! I like the idea of taking measurements. I think I will do the same. I plan on kicking some butt on this challenge! Must loose before the Holidays!!!!
Amy:flowerforyou:0 -
Morning gals...quick check in! Measurements for this new challenge sounds like a good idea also! So...final weigh in tommorow....**drum roll**
Look for a new post for "Sexy in Six Challenge" which will be the new one. I can't WAIT!!!!!!
And the meal plan for today is good...don't have time to post it all right now, but I will at lunch. Have a good morning gals!0 -
happy monday ladies..........
thanks to all the comments on pics. i always look at myself differently. they say we do that. anyway, thanks so much.
hope everyone had a great weekend. house hunting again this afternoon. getting tired of this. since it's not my house i am looking for. already did workout and am drinking water. getting hair cut at 1 today and meeting realtor at 3:30.
food plan is up in the air right now for dinner. lunch is planned. can't wait for tomorrow's new challenge either. i am excited to see the scale, but, yet don't want to be disappointed if it doesn't go down either. this scale thing can be a catch 22.
well, off to shower. check in later.
