So this is incredibly dumb and I feel stupid asking this! But a friend and I were having a discussion about this and I am interested to see what you all have to say!! (Even though I think that no girl should judge her body on what guys think lol)
So the stereotype is that guys love the super skinny hollywood/airbrushed models. Is this true? Or is that starting to go "out of style"? What do you think is beautiful in a woman?
Thanks so much for adding to this discussion for us!!!!
Hugs and best of luck to everyone!!!!!

Hardly. I am attracted to women of varying statures (athletic, healthy curves, etc.). Put a barbie doll in front of me with a bad attitude and suddenly she becomes repulsive. So attitude plays a big part too.
not sure if that helped or not.0 -
Curves, please. Not a fan of super skinny, give me a strong athletic looking girl any day.0

It most definately did! Thank you so much! Now Im winning my "discussion" with my friend0

This.
Seriously...that.
There's not much else to say to it.0 -
Actually, if I can ransack this thread a bit. I was curious myself after coming across this picture.

Not sure if it's offensive - at least I don't think it is, but what I found interesting was to find what I see myself as, and what my goal would look like.
My boyfriend said that he thinks 2 and 3 are what the media deems 'beautiful' - and he wishes that women like 8,9, and 11 would replace that. I see myself as a 9, and I want to be a 3 or 50 -

I enjoy having a bit of insight into what men really like because I think, as women, we think they all want Barbie dolls. Perhaps if we knew what REAL men want in a woman we wouldn't be so hard on ourselves?0 -
How do I say this and not sound like a perv...ok I like it when a woman has curves, when we have "fun" time I don't wanna worry about braking her lol0
-
Strengthy curves please. Gwyneth paltrow and the catwal chicks look like they'd break if they lived in my house.
Interestingly, I think most guys pick up on a healthy vibe from women. I've noticed how many of us men I know can agree that a certain women is attractive of not even although they may not be cover page material. Strange but in person I think smells and hormones kick in
I will also add that I think the strength stature thing is huge as a lot of guys (inc me) pick up on poise, walks and energy.
Look at all those crossfit beauties, jamaican sprinters etc. THOSE get guys excited, not catwalk skeletons.
Soooo.... what about girls ha ha ha0 -
What an interesting question. I would have to say that each man has his own like and dislike, just as women do. I myself don't think airbrushed supper models are interesting at all. They are just to skinny for my taste. That being said my wife is 5'4" and 110 lbs. But that is her build. In fact she is actually trying to gain weight. When she was 120 she was just as lovely. I think most men want a woman they can hold on to and not worry that we might break her if we hold her to tight. If you stay trim and fit you will be fine. Those women on America's Top Model that my daughter's watch are way to skinny. They need some meat on there bones. What you see in magazines and on TV is not accurate to what most men would want. Some men also think that's what a women should look like and IMHO they are just shallow in what they think of Women in general. I say BE YOURSELF and not whats in magazines and on tv.0

A big thanks to the original poster for this- its refreshing to hear that guys like girls who do not starve themselves or lose weight in an unhealthy way. Sometimes us normal gals need this reassurance!

Don't like super skinny. Must have a few curves.
Now don't get me wrong. There are some women with a little extra that still look good.0 -
The supper skinny twiggy is not for me, and never has been. Curves, and some meat on the bones is much more attractive and desirable.0

I third this thought process...
I'm attracted to different women for different reasons. Personally, I don't look at just what a woman looks like to figure out if I'm attracted to her. It's a lot about how she carries herself too. If she's super skinny and has that, as they say, "barbie girl" attitude to her... It's not my thing. I'd rather be with someone who is healthy, confident, but not conceited, and an overall joy to be around. I won't say I haven't seen attractive "skinny" women, or dated them, but I've found that those who look healthier, or have "a little meat on the bones" (personally hate that saying, but no know how else to put it) are genuinely nicer people and a lot more fun to be around.0 -

I'm not a fan of 8 and 9...11 is definitely ok. 3 caught my attention first, but it may have been the suit and pose (serious curves). Thinking about it, in descending order from favorite to least, would be 5 and 3 tied, 11 and 4 tied (if 4 had smaller breasts...Lord), and then 2 and 1. I didn't notice 14 until just now...but that 'average' body type could fit anywhere in the above list, depending on her face.
As a disclaimer...NO PERSONALITY IS IMPLIED in this post. Personality can modify ANY of them to be first on the list. Seriously. A pretty face and an incredible personality will get you much farther with me than a smokin body. The smokin body can come and go...from either direction (gaining it or losing it).0 -

These anorexic looking Hollywood women that some people say are so beautiful just really don't do a thing for me, except make me want to take them a sandwich or two. I can't remember her name, but the lady in the Pirates of the Carribean movies doesn't even look healthy at all.
First thing I notice usually is a woman's smile and her attitude...or at least that's the first thing that I notice that will hold my attention for more than a few seconds. If she seems to be enjoying herself and laughing, then in my mind I think "Hey, I can make her laugh...I got a shot." I may notice something else at a glance, but that's just cuz I'm a guy...it's what we do...sorry ladies, no offense meant at all.0 -

Well personally I don't think many women have realized that this is what some men prefer! Many of us gals are conditioned to thinking that we need to physically look a certain way. I think hearing all these comments are good for us in realizing that:
1. Its not always about looks!
2. Guys like us, regardless of our body shape and type (weight is not the "dealbreaker"
3. Confidence is key0 -

And don't get me wrong...a smokin hot body is a big plus...but it's not a deal breaker is my point.0 -

I think Jam hit the nail on the head.
This thread is like an open door into the way men see women. It's refreshing to hear that not all men want a size 0 Barbie doll.0 -

I like 12 and 13. 11 is ok, but bordering on too skinny.0 -

I think on both sides of the coin, it comes down to confidence and personality that attracts us to one another in the long run. That first initial attraction is purely based on physical attraction. As this post is geared towards that, you have most of our answers... I've found (even when I was overweight) that any girl COULD find me attractive if they got to know me... because I like to flirt, say nice things, and genuinely be a nice guy. I've had close women friends call me a "genuine charmer" before, because I don't just say something to you to "get in your pants" or anything stupid... I say it cause I mean it. If someone is confident, there's not much that can stand in their way.0
