Good morning, ladies! So I've fallen victim to the sickness that is circulating through my house so I'll probably be MIA today. My fever's up to 102.5 so I'm pretty out of it as it is. One thing about being a SAHM that isn't so good? NO SICK DAYS!
Any one have a good idea for a challenge this week?

I have no ideas for a challenge right now but I will try to think about it today.
I have some good news! I lost another 2 pounds! That's 4.5 pounds in a week! I'm so excited since I have only gained since May! The no sweets thing must be working for me! Who knew you couldn't lose weight while eating sugar? Go figure!
Alex is still feverish. It was up to 102.2 last night. I'm going to call the doctor and see what he says. He may say to wait it out. He's playing this morning so his fever has gone down some.
My goals for today are to do push ups, Shred if I can get it in, and working on Alex's bed.
I need to go, so you all have a good day. 3BB get better!!!!
MM0 -
I hope you get to feeling better 3BB!
Congrats again on your weight loss MM!!
My goals for today are to get my cardio in, do my strength training, drink all my water, eat right, and hopefully do my push ups test that Ive been putting off since last week lol...
Everyone have a great and productive day!!:drinker:

Hi everyone! Ive been in contact with 3babybeans last week and she invited me to come and chat with you guys. To start off I will tell you I have a 1, 2, & 3 years old boys so they keep me pretty busy. I usually am only on the computer for a few minutes at a time or by chance they all cooperate at nap time. I have a wonderful husband who is supportive of my weightloss and wants to lose weight himself, but doesnt really help out that much (he is always wanting to go out to eat and/or have desert) I have been trying to get this eating healthy thing under control but I have had little success. As you guys know being home all day long with food temptations at your fingertips is a very hard job. I am currently on the MWF workout program. I work out 3 days a week for 1hr 45 minutes. I love working out but it doesnt seem to be effecting my weight loss. I am really going to go full speed this week eating healthy but I may need some help with ideas and strategies that you have found to work. I am really excited to get to know you ladies and I hope I can keep on track. Thanks for having me!
Stacy0 -
Welcome Stacy! Glad to have you here! We will help any way we can! Wow. Three boys under 3! I have one and he's almost 3. He's an easygoing child and I still think he's a handful! Ha ha. No question is stupid so ask away! :flowerforyou:

Hi guys I'm Melanie a SAHM. So are we having challenges for SAHM's?
If so I think a great one for this week would be to SAY NO to Halloween candy : )
I know everyone has kids so we're probably all struggling with that this week.
What do you think? : )0 -
we are hopping today! i'm conscious for a moment so i thought I'd check in b/c I'd rather be doing this than dealing with my children right now. I just feel like junk. anyways...
MM - look at those guns, girl! Those pushups are paying off! love the new pic!
Roni- good goals for today! If you do your pushup test, I'll do mine. I've been putting it off myself.
Stacy - SO happy you decided to join us! These girls are great & together we come up with some good ideas. If I didn't have my laptop, I'd never be able to be on the computer b/c of someone always needing something. This group is a good way to have some "adult conversation" once in awhile! Good luck to you!
Melanie - Welcome to the group! I love the challenge! Marla, MM & I have been trying the no sweets thing, but this will help reinforce it! Nothing like a bowl of temptation sitting around my kitchen 24/7. :grumble: How many kids do you have?
Marla - thinking of you today! I hope all goes well!
Loki - I know you're out there! I hope you're doing okay with your dh being away. :frown:
SOOOO...our offical challenge for this week is to JUST SAY NO...to Halloween candy. We can do it!0 -
Ok so let me introduce myself : )
I'm Melanie I have 3 kiddos, girl 10, girl 7, and boy 18 months.
I'm married to my husband of 8 years.
I have a 24 hour fitness membership that sat for a while a collected dust. But thanks to craigslist I found a girl my age that wants to kick some butt at the gym every night. That's really gonna keep me motivated to keep going to te gym and stay there for at least an hour.
My brother is a personal trainer but he lives in New York City. So I get a lot of phone advice from him.
My plan is to workout weights, arms one day, legs and cardio the 3rd day which will be racket ball for me. It' a kick *kitten* workout for sure.
I decided I can't use my kids for an excuse of being fat anymore. They helped me get here but thier not keeping it on me I am : )
Do we have weigh ins weekly or monthly? If not we should : )
I have lots of ideas for working out with your kids if anyone needs some : )
Look forward to getting to know you all.0 -
Hi!
My name is Denea, I'm a SAHM. I have gained a little over 60 pounds since having my first child in 2003. I have lost around 20 pounds in the last year...but I am looking to lose around 65 more.
I have an elliptical and a treadmill, I just have the excuse that I can't find time to use either....0 -

Hi Welcome. We'll help you get that time : )0 -
Just a quick check-in-- back from surgery, Caleb is fine. He woke up from anesthesia and gave the nurses a smile, and then hugged one of them and sucked his fingers until they got Mommy. They told me they were keeping him.
Thanks for the prayers-- heading to work.0 -
I am totally in on the NO HALLOWEEN CANDY challenge. I feel like telling my husband to take it all to work with him and let someone else eat it (but that wouldnt really be fair to his co-worker trying to lose weight). I am all for the weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly weighin if everyone else is. Maybe if I have to actually tell everyone how much I weigh every week I will be more motivated to make a change.
Denea - Welcome to the group! The only thing I have found to work to keep me from making excuses is getting up early and doing my workout before anyone else is awake. If I waited until later in the day I dont think I could bring myself to do it. Good Luck!0 -
Zeke was up from surgery & screams his bloody head off for a good hour...no joke. He's had 4 "surgeries" & I'm hoping we're done!
SO glad things went well, Marla!
Denea, welcome to the group!0 -
Hi guys! This sounds like an awesome thread. Thanks 3babybeans for letting me know about it.
My goals are to loose all my weight by FEB. No particular reason why, I just think that it can be done in that time frame.
My goals for the week are to hit the gym 3 times and log all of my food. I have be away from the site for a while and ready to jump back on board! Heidi0 -
Wow! Welcome to all the newbies!
I usually weigh in weekly but since I've actually started losing again I've been sneaking peeks every few days. So that challenge, once a week, would be good for me.
Marla I'm glad the surgery went okay and your little boy is okay!
I got Shred done so I feel better. Alex fell asleep on me just minutes before I was going to put him down. I feel so sorry for him. It just makes me so sad!
MM0 -
Alex woke up from his nap screaming. Well not at first. He came downstairs and said, "Is you okay?" which in his language is him telling me he wasn't okay. As soon as the words left his mouth he started crying. Just like me. I cry too. And I did cry when he started screaming and just wouldn't stop. I could tell he was hurting. Finally we took him to a clinic and the doc couldn't really say what was wrong with him but his throat is red. So we have antibiotics to give him. I hope it takes care of whatever it is and he's okay. It's been a stressful day.
MM0 -
Awww! Poor little guy & poor mommy! :frown: I hope the antibiotics help him out quickly!
Hey, Heidi!! I'm glad you found us! good luck getting back on board with the site! I'm sure you can do it! The hardest part for me is logging all my food. I'll do it really well for about 3 days & then I start slacking. :blushing:
I normally weigh myself everyday b/c I'm insane like that but my measurment day is Tuesday. I'm not holding my breath that the scale is going to stay where it was this morning b/c my fever was SO high yesterday, but it was nice to see. LOL All my measurments went down from last week so that was nice to see, though.
Should we just make our weigh in day Mondays when we start a new thread anyways?
Have a fabulous Tuesday, ladies & don't forget to VOTE!
Sara0 -
Wow! Lots of new moms when I signed on this morning! Thats fantastic, the more the merrier right? Welcome everyone!
Im all for the weekly weigh-in. I normally weigh myself on Thursdays, but can change it if everyone wants to do it on Mondays?
Today Im taking my measurements for the first time:blushing: Im in my 6th week and so far the only measurements I took were ones that I used a regular tape measure for:laugh: Thats all I had available lol and figured it was better than nothing! Sure was hard to get that thing to bend though:blushing: So anyway, I gotta go hunt for the thread that gives good advice on how to take your measurements! Boy, I am amazed sometimes at how dense I am at all this:laugh: Soooo....any Moms that have some good advice about how to do it/where to measure, etc....would certainly be welcome Oh! Just for the record, I finally got me a fabric tape measure (like the ones I guess a seamstress would use), anyway it BENDS!! lol
Have a happy and healthy day ladies
~Roni0 -
Roni - I take my upper chest, rib cage, waist, hips, thigh & bicept measurments. I know some people do fewer & some people add some like calves, upper waist, lower waist, neck, etc... Just try to be consistent with how you measure. Make sure that you do it the same time every time just like weighing in & posture can make a difference. Just my 2 cents.
I was double thinking...maybe Monday wouldn't be the best for a weigh in day. My weekends are usually not my best days for eating & exercising (as I'm sure some of you can relate...right? RIGHT? i'm not alone on that am I?! LOL) & Mondays can be somewhat depressing for my weight. How about Fridays? Would that be better?0 -
I vote for Fridays! I was thinking, do I REALLY wanna weigh myself after the weekend?:noway: I normally take Sundays off from regular exercise and something about weighing myself after a "day off" sounds scary:laugh:
3BB-What exactly do you mean by upper chest?:blushing: Do you mean boobs? lol and if so, do I measure across the largest part od them? Hope I dont sound daft lol, just really dont know:embarassed:
~Roni0 -
LOL you don't sound daft...I do love saying that word, though. Above your boobs, like under your armpits...kind of where my boobs used to be before having kids. :grumble: I've found it is a good way to measure how much back fat I'm losing. :bigsmile:0

Thats good because I was thinking the largest part of my chest isnt up where its supposed to be! lol:laugh: :grumble:
By the way MM....your arms look GREAT in your new photo!!:flowerforyou:
~Roni0 -
Thanks Roni!
You all are cracking me up in your posts!
I weigh in Mondays, but Fridays would be better prolly.
Alex is laying on me so I am having a hard time typing. He's still burning up. How are you feeling 3BB?
I am going to try to get some cleaning done today and get Shred in. It depends on if Alex will detach himself. Ha ha. I am not going to sweat it (pun intended) if I don't get to Shred. I need to get some painting done also. So it will be a busy day for me. Be back later!
MM0 -
Good morning-- time for a quickie-- got a call that my mom is coming for a visit on Thursday for a week, so crazy week ahead. I used to weigh in on Fridays, but then would feel too confident nibbling my way into the weekend. So, I started doing it on Saturdays to at least cut out the Friday night munching.
I hope to get a run in today, but not holding my breath.
Caleb is awesome-- you'd never know he had surgery, from the moment he woke up from the anesthesia-- what a kid.
Hope everyone is well-- have a great day.0 -
That sounds like fun(?), Marla! Does your mom think that you can just drop everything (i.e. NINE kids) to make room for her on the couch? LOL My mom & I are VERY close, but I think I'd have to have words with her over something like this. Is she at least helpful when she comes to visit? I'm so glad Caleb is doing so well! Zeke was the same way. The next day, you never knew anything had happened...except when he had to go pee. Then, he realized that something wasn't quite right. Is that Caleb in the pic with you?
Oh, MM! I'm so sorry that Alex still has a fever! I'm almost all better today. Fever's gone but my throat is sore & nerves are shot...but Zeke had something to do with that, too. :grumble: I hope Alex gets better today! Poor kiddo.
I got my walk in today for the first time in like a week. The weather was just gross the past week & couldn't pack up sick kids to go walk in cold, wet weather. I'm going to attempt to TJ when everyone is down for a nap & do my pushup initial test. We'll see how it goes. I think I might be doing too much after being so crappy yesterday. I just got so excited seeing the scale move so much that I feel like I should be working my butt off to keep it off (even though I know it isn't going to stay off).
Well, that was rambly! Have a healthy day, girls!0 -
Hello. 3babybeans recruited me for this thread. (I see she's good at that.)
I am 26. I quit work to be a SAHM in August and had my daughter, Harley Pearl, on September 3rd. She had her 2 month doctor's appointment today which meant shots. Luckily my husband was there with me to hold her so I could look away and not see her sad little face. She did great though. She was a trooper.
I am 5'4". I gained 30 pounds when I was pregnant. Luckily, I lost most of it without trying. I only have 2 pounds left. But when I got pregnant, I was 30 pounds heavier than I would ultimately like to be.
My problem is eating badly (I love me some chocolate!), not drinking enough water :drinker: (<-- what I need to start looking like), and being lazy when it comes to working out.0 -
Hey, I know quality when I see it. I'm glad you found us! Like you, I've lost all my baby (babies!) weight & now I'm working on the "first year of marriage" weight. LOL I'm actually really close to that goal & then I need to get down to the "desk job" weight & then the "out of high school" weight. LOL I doubt that I'll ever see my high school weight again, but you never know! I LOVE my chocolate, too so I feel your pain there!
I started to TJ & wouldn't you know it, the kids woke up. I don't think I'm getting it in today...maybe late tonight. We'll see.0 -

Actually-- yes, she's very helpful. But, when the 'help" is done, she sits and pouts historically. She's a nutjob. Relations in my family are very strained these days as I'm estranged from most of the dysfunctional clan-- for mental, emotional and spiritual health reasons-- whew-- and she kinda knows that she needs to behave or be out with the rest of the estranged ones. I know I sound terribly disrespectful, and I don't mean to.
I know I have to honor her and all that jazz, so we always treat her like a queen when she's around ( which hasn't been very frequent-- last visit was when Josh was born, spring of '06 ) She's the matriarch of a very dysfunctional brood, and enables-- well-- no other way to put it-- evil behavior in my brothers, so I have a very tough time being around her, and them.
I have no relationship with my Dad, which is why she comes alone. Long story--
So, this should be interesting. Just the thing this stressed out mother of 9 needs, eh? Thanks, Lord.0 -
That sounds like a lovely story, Marla. :noway: I'm sorry & I hope the visit goes better than expected! How many brothers do you have?0

Three-- only one of whom I have contact with. One was in prison, one should be-- and the other is gold. He's the one I have contact with--
