Those are the kind of stories that make me thank God that I'm an only child. I'm glad you have at least one sane brother!

This group is already helping me! I was reading through and after seeing that many of you have several kids and still manage to find time to work out, I felt guilty using my one daughter as an excuse. Since she was knocked out from her shots earlier, I put her in the stroller and took her for an hour walk. Now I feel tired  but good.

Loree-- that's great. Stopping the excuses is major-- and we all have them, and use them-- but, you didn't-- that's wonderful!!!!!!!!! Way to go-- :flowerforyou:

Loree - I'm so glad that you were able to do that! Stopping the excuses was my first step & now it is a way of life. If I don't get my work out in, I'm grumpy. LOL NEVER thought I'd see the day that happens. HA!

I got my exercise running to the polling place and back with hubby-- stinkin' lot of good it does in this rotten state I live in. I'm very sad tonight-- probably 'cause I'm so #$!@ Tired and I'm transcribing the tape from hell-- feeling very down about our country's chances-- sighhhhhh.

    Need sleep-- nite-nite.

I knew there was something else I wanted to comment on this morning. My head is spinning so much with politics, I simply forgot. LOL So...is it a compliment when your dh says that your butt is boney? LOL He rolled over to cuddle with me last night & said, "wow. your butt is boney." :grumble: Me, being me, smacked my own butt & said, "that's all muscle, baby!" Which is REALLy is! I swear! I think he's in mourning for my lost honky donk ba-donk a donk.

    3BB your so funny!
I needed that this morning. I feel like poop. Not really. I just feel really really tired and trying not to be down because I voted for McCain. I know God has it under control. So I think I need to work out today! I need to do something and do it early!

I do what I can. I figured we could all use a chuckle this morning. I spent a good 5 min. analyzing my back side in the mirror to make sure it was muscle & not just bone this morning. I think I'm in the clear.

I don't want things to turn political here & we get blocked, but we're also McCain supporters & last night was rough to watch, especially here in Ohio. My friend (an Obama supporter) came over to watch a movie last night & Doug was in the basement doing homework. We finished our movie (PS I Love You...REALLY good movie...ended kind of weird...) & were talking & Doug came up right when they declared that Obama won Ohio. I never saw my friend run out of my house so fast in my life! LOL Her & my husband get in pretty good political debates & she was just not in the mood to do it last night. Well, at least we're still friends.

I'm going to join you ladies again. I haven't been on here in a while and I'm getting back to working out 6 days a week. :)

And the no-halloween-candy challenge is looking bad for me.

Hey, Kate! You can do it! Let us know if there is any way we can help you stick to it this time. I took the Halloween candy bowl & a roll of duct tape & wrote all over it how many pounds I've lost already & how many pounds I have to go. That's seemed to help me.

MM - How's Alex doing today?

3BB, thanks for asking about Alex. Without Tylenol his temp was 98.8 when he got up. I don't think it has actually broken yet so I still need to watch it today. His throat (lymph nodes?) feel swollen and I can tell it hurts him to talk or swallow(not to scream though!). He won't let us look at his throat, but I would guess it's strep. We are praying we don't get it whatever it is! It sounds horrible and painful! He's pulling out books and toys and asked why the light wasn't on (bulb burned out). So he's getting there. Whew! As soon as he's better I think I am going to go away for a few hours. lol. Marla I don't know how you do it.

If it is strep, the back of his throat would look like it had white spots or sploches all over it, just FYI. He sounds like he's making progress! I spent my day yesterday lysoling my house so I know the "I don't want what you have!!!" feeling.

Well, Marla is one part mom, one part wonder woman. That's how she can manage 9 kids, an at home husband & a work at home job. I'd run away with just a fraction of that.

Thanks 3babybeans. I stuck to working out 3 times a week but my weight stalled. Which isn't a biggie because it's already healthy. But I do want to lose a couple more inches on my waist and drop a size. My goal is to be toned by Christmas :)

But I realized that I'm more motivated to work out when I have work-out buddies.

That's a good goal to have! You should join MM & Roni & ... me ... in the 100 pushup challenge! That'll help tone you up! Just check out MM's arms in that pic! I'm still impressed, girl!

Oh! Roughneckswife is doing it, too!

  • For your 100 push up challange is that daily or weekly? Eating No Halloween candy this week is harder than I thought it would be... I love chocolate and there is so much around. I have been trying to drink a glass of water if I feel like stealing a piece but it doesnt help. Will Power!!!!!!!!!!!! I am slowly learning how this group works and I am taking it all in right now. Thanks for having me!

Good morning, Stacy! Here's the link to the 100 push up challenge. MM knows MUCH more about it than I do. LOL

Roni & I are just beginning to do it but MM is a seasoned vetran. It is much more difficult than i thought it would be!

Hi!!! I'm new to this group! My little man, Mack, is 9 weeks old today! He had his 2 month shots yesterday and I almost lost my mind when he cried real tears. They don't prepare you for the heart aches... ugh. He's fine, now. My plan is to head to the gym for the first time since he was born. I've been running since week about 5, but I haven't been back to the gym yet b/c Mack didn't have his shots yet. I'm scared to death to drop him off, but they give you a beeper and it's one on one care for infants... plus I've asked about a million moms about it and they all give the double thumbs up. Please tell me my neurotic ways are NORMAL!!!!!!!! My husband thinks I'm over emotional.

DIFFICULT indeed, Roni! You said it right the first time. LOL

Katie - welcome to the group! Your baby is SO cute & IMO, you are completely normal...well, except for maybe the running thing. LOL I don't trust many people with watching my children & strangers watching them is a lot more difficult. Good luck going to the gym! I have friends that drop off at the gym & they love it. Just try to enjoy your time alone...believe me...as they get older, you'll learn to cherish it!

Yesterday must have been baby shot day! Poor punkins.

Morning gang-- just touching in to say hey-- crazy day trying to get house ready for mom's visit tomorrow, and deal with the rest of our stressful life-- not a happy camper today. Arrrgghhhh. Ditto on the presidential sentiments. Don't wish to get banned, so that's all I'll say. God help us all.

My daughter, Harley Pearl, is 9 weeks today too! She also had her shots yesterday. My husband went with me and I had to look away!

You're not neurotic. My husband got me a spa package for Christmas last year. He keeps bugging me to make an appointment. But it's an all day package and I'm not ready to leave Harley for several hours yet, and that's leaving her with my husband, not even people I don't know!

Aww! You new moms & your new little babies are making me want more...not that I SHOULD want more, but you know...I love tinies.

Ooohhh...spa treatment. Mmmm... I always have a problem leaving my BABIES (my toddlers, on the other hand...) It was even harder with the second 2 b/c they both REFUSED to take bottles & would just scream at my dh the entire time I was gone. Take it in baby steps. I wouldn't recomend an entire day away at first. That'll just be too stressful on you, kwim?

Off to Turbo Jam & do my push ups! MM & Roni, I swear! I'm doing it this time! I swear! LOL
  • Hi! I'm not new to MFP but I don't normally check the forums so I'm new to this aspect of it. I'm a SAHM of 4 girls; 14, 10, 5 and 3. I wish I had checked this out on Monday for the just say no to Halloween candy because this week has not been good so far. But I've taken control and thrown out the rest of the candy and will definitely do better now. Chocolate is just too tempting!!! Anyhoo...I started on MFP at the end of June with my DH but my motivation is slipping. AHHHHH!!! I need help getting back on track. My eating (except for the candy) has been good but I just have totally dropped exercising. Anyone have any ideas to make it more appealing so I'll get up and just do it?

  • Hi! I'm not new to MFP but have yet to drop any poundage in the 6 months I have been on here! I have 5 1/2 year twins who are in kindergarten in the am! That is when I head to the gym to get in a good workout either with a friend or a trainer! I have been working so hard and have not dropped one pound instead gaining 15! Luckily, I went to the doc and my thyroid is out of whack so starting on Friday we'll see if we can't turn this thing around!

I look forward to getting to know everyone here! Thanks for the support!

Welcome Kileenas and Enkcott! We are glad you are here!
Kileenas I hear you about the chocolate. I can't keep it in the house in any form except cocoa powder. Even then I am tempted to make something with it!
Enkcott, I also have thyroid problems and that can really upset your weight loss. I hope they get it straightened out quickly for you!
3BB have you done your push ups yet? I'm just checking on you!
I need to Shred today and I don't feel like it!!! I'm not eating bad but I am eating too much, so I need to work out. I can't seem to get out of this slump. Maybe after a work out.

Kileenas - Welcome to the group! Four girls! Whew! That's a lot of hair braiding going on! The trick for me with exercising is to find something that you really like to do. I've tried tae bo, walk away the pounds, slim in six, some postnatal work out...they all worked temporarily but it wasn't something that I LOVED to do so I eventually stopped doing them all. Turbo Jam, however, is my new love. I LOVE doing it. It burns stress, it works FAST (for me at least), it tones muscle & it just makes me feel good. Once I found it, it is now part of my day. I make time for it b/c I WANT to, not b/c I have to. Some days, it is difficult to get in & somedays it doesn't happen, but since i like it so much, I get back on track the next day. That's just my 2 cents. I'm kind of the mouth around here.

enkcott - How neat to have twins! girls, boys or one of each? I got so big with my second that everyone (without a PhD) was telling me it was twins...just turned out to be a 9#9oz baby. Yowzer. :noway: I hope you get you thyroid in check! You're on the right track to getting rid of that weight...just have to convince your thyroid of it now!

I'll be waiting in the wings for my standing ovation...I just did my 100 pushup challenge (week 1, day one, level one...but who's counting). LOL I've finally committed, MM! You can't leave me now, Roni!

Marla - I hope your day gets better, sweetie! Hopefully the kids will be nothing but help in getting ready for grandma. :grumble: Good luck!
