Omg! Omg! I can not beleive I was one of the biggest losers this week in my catorgory! That is awesome! Thank you so much Vic you are amazing for all you do! As for the challege this week I'm actually on vacation right now in Vegas heading down to the pool in a couple of minutes & even with the heat here we have been spending a lot of time outside. Yesterday we walked like the entire strip it was exhasting! Today we did the Hoover Dam which was amazing too. Anyways my fiance is out of the washroom so it's swimming time talk to you all later. It's a good time for reflection. . .
It's been a hard summer for me weight - wise: after losing 27 pounds in from February - May, I hit the dreaded plateau for 6 weeks -- trading pounds back and forth. I may have a breakthrough this week -- we'll see if the loss holds this week. On the bright side, I am FINALLY seeing the "new me" in the mirror. I splurged on new clothes -- I had a feeling I would be at this size for a while. So I guess the plateau is just giving me a little more time to enjoy them.
I must have read your mind on spending some time outside this week. I just had my bike tuned this summer (one of my mini-goal rewards) and it was a nice night for a spin. It was only twenty minutes, and I didn't get much of a calorie burn, but it was nice to be outside anyway.
Summer reflections: It's been a little challenging, as I decided to mow my lawn myself using a push mower. (Lawn tractor still in shop!) I mow about 3/4 acre, and it takes me about 2 1/2 hours to do, so it's quite a commitment. Unforunately, I also had to give up on some of my "exercise" time. I have also started to weed the perennial gardens that the former owner planted. After about 10 bags of weeds, it's actually starting to take shape. I am starting to learn what I'm doing, and can't wait for the fall planting season. Just wish I had started this spring!0 -

While on my week long vacation, I didn't log into MFP, I didn't overeat, and while out to dinner, I always chose the healthier foods to eat. However, I did not keep up with my water consumption, and I gained weight not that week, but the following week. I think my weight gain was because I did not have enough water, so on my next vacation in August, I am going to make sure to keep up with drinking 8 glasses a day. I really do think that will make the difference.
I'm totally with you on this one! Some weeks I eat great and exercise but don't pay attention to my water intake as much as I should and I don't lose as much. And then some weeks I up my water intake and eat worse and I lose more!0 -
Challenge: The Great Outdoors!
I've been outdoors this month, getting ready for our annual summer picnic. The picnic was this past Saturday and I sent most of the day, walking around the backyard and walking out when people were leaving. I did lost of light yard work (weeding, power washing furniture, water plants, etc). It was a great time - realized I want to do more gardening.
Reflection: Summer Time
This summer, I'm going camping with my husband and some of our friends. We plan to do some hiking and canoeing(maybe). Should make for a good mini vaca.0 -
Outside in the summer!
Hard to do here in Phoenix, AZ, but I walk my dogs every morning and hang clothes out to dry, so I am counting those activities!
Challenges this summer
My main challenge was dealing with siblings and my mother's ongoing care. I THINK it has leveled off, but only time will tell. I chose to join some challenges this summer (thanks Vic for all you do ) So surprised to win part of the challenge last week for my weight-loss group. Knowing the numbers are public each week has been a huge motivation for me.
Thanks to everyone on this thread! Inspiring me to do good things for myself!0 -
I am back from part 1 of my summer holidays and leaving for part 2 of my summer holidays, so I am weighing in today. I keep gaining 2 pounds and losing it back. the result is that I am staying the same. I am having trouble traveling and losing weight, any advice from fellow travelers out there?

Hello,
I was so embarrased :blushing: with the upswing in my weight that I didn't weigh in at all last week. Today I felt I'd better bite the bullet in public and get back on the horse and at least post my current weight - 170 - I've gained 6.4 :noway: pounds during two weeks of vacation - wiping out almost 2 months of progress. :ohwell:
I got so tired of watching every single thing I put in my mouth that I took a break - had the BBQ, fried chicken gizzards smothered in gravy, beer, wine coolers :drinker: and it was so hot I got in very little exercise.
Enough moaning. The vacation is over - and so is the pity party.0 -

Challenge: The Great Outdoors!
Well, tomorrow I'll be getting my weekly challenge completed. I'm going to the pool with a friend! This will be the first time that I've not been nervous about wearing a bathing suit in public in YEARS! I'm actually looking forward to it.
Here is my new suit....
This happens to be a very flattering picture. It actually looks like I've got some nice curves. From the front however I'm more rectangular (how I dream of having a defined wasit one day).
Reflection: Summer Time
My biggest challenge in the summer is having NO schedule. As a teacher I am used to being on a very consistent schedule during the school year and I find it very easy to plan my meals and workouts accordingly. During the summer, I have no schedule. My kids are with me all day and I'm usually at home which mean that the pantry and fridge are with me all day too. It has been tough some days to stay committed. Thankfully I have a very supportive husband and we've been workout buddies. We do our P90X workouts when he comes home on his lunch break (good think about being the boss...you can take a long lunch). Unfortunately when he works out of town (like this week) then I'm back to doing it solo and some days I really have to talk myself into being productive. Ultimately I have to remember that I am coming to the end of my "weight-loss" journey but then I'll be entering into the whole new world of "maintenance", which means that I'll still have to workout and watch what I eat. Hoping to be in the 120s tomorrow!0 -

As I am going on holidays tomorrow and don't know if I will have access to a scale, I am reporting my weight for this week early.
I have tentatively entered Onederland! I say tentatively as I am being realistic, I plan to have a good time and relax and enjoy my time away, but I also plan to be as active as possilble, and am taking my Zumba DVD with me as well! lol So I'll see what the old scale has to say at our weigh in next week

I'm in the same boat as you in terms of scheduling in the summer. At first I thought it would be great because I wouldn't have to worry about finding time to workout but now I have almost too much time on my hands and it is so much easier to just lay by the pool

EEEEEKKK!!!! I missed this on Sunday night & therefore missed the reflections until just this moment! Glad I remembered it was weigh in day! I changed my goal weights....again. SORRY! I blew them out of the park! Final goal now is to reach TWODERVILLE!!!! I CAN freaking DO THIS!!! :-)

Without even knowing it - I handled this one! I love the pool and go there for at least an hour every chance I get!!!
Reflection: Summer Time
I can't afford a vacay right now (BOOOO!), but I've been to plenty of parties this summer and rather than feel down about the fact that I may not be able to feast on the yummies being served, I offer to bring some food. This way, I can have something that I know fits within my calories AND I can show people that eating good can TASTE good, too!0 -

Well I've put down the cookies and headed back to the gym so my weight is moving in the right direction again, but I'm not going to make my mini-goal. I've revised my goals to what I think are more realistic numbers.
Challenge: The Great Outdoors! I've upped my running outside from 3-6 miles a week to 12-15 miles a week and I'm thinking about getting a jogging stroller.
Reflection: Hmm, well, I didn't handle the past couple of weeks well. I slacked off on my diet (birthdays, parties, BBQs, vacation) and on exercise (ran outside 1-2 times a week, but stopped going to the gym for resistance training). Luckily the staff at my gym took notice and started hounding me this week, and since my husband has jumped on the diet (if not the exercise) wagon, I climbed back aboard too. My next big challenge food-choice wise will be the week of August 15th when my parents come to visit; my dad always makes pancakes for breakfast and cookies after dinner, arghh, maybe I should get them a hotel room. :P0 -

I have been outside a lot this week. While I watch my kids in the pool, I do lunges and jumping jacks, sometimes I jog. We went to the beach. I bbq-ed (in the rain!), sat on the porch and gossiped with the neighbors, now we are going to wash my car.
I haven't really faced any challenges. Summer is full of great fruits and veggies, so I've been ok. This Saturday I go to Amherst College to pick up my daughter. It will be the first time eating out since I started my journey. That I imagine will be tough, but it has been 130 days and I haven't home over. I will try to make the right choices and hope for the best!0 -

Gained this week. I'm hoping it's jsut from TOM. I'll have to wait and see how I do next week. I'm a little discouraged right now, so I changed my goal weight. I'm hoping to just reach Onederland by the end of this!! But to keep my spirits high, I have an NSV for this week: My friend who I haven't seen for a couple of months saw my pictures on facebook, and said how great I'm looking. That made me very happy0
