secret geekness (family know about and just lift their eyebrows in dispair)
track earthquake activity and volcanic eruptions and have a passion for the weather especially the extremes.
thats it out in the open now.0 -
I run around my neighborhood wearing superman briefs and a red blanket tied around my neck looking for Lois Lane... speaking of which.... anyone seen Lois?0

Well, I'm finishing up a bachelor's degree in math with a minor in physics and starting to apply for grad schools. Can't get a whole lot geekier than that! Especially since my focus is number theory. I want to go into cryptology, specifically using math to break codes (sound like Charlie Epps or Tim McGee much? lol)
But I do get geekier:
1- I play WoW, too. 3 85's and 7 between 40 and 75. And that's just on my main server (I play on Vek'nilash, main is a human rogue named Annitra). I'm an officer in my guild.
2- Member of a Start Trek/general science fiction/fantasy club. We meet monthly and I also write stories about characters on the ship for our quarterly fanzine.
3- Part of the planning committee for the annual SF/fantasy convention in town. Have been involved in it for 14 years, doing security for the past 10.
4- Seriously miss the paper-and-dice RPGs we used to play. Sadly, too many of us in the group have so many RL things going on (like kids, jobs, etc) that we haven't gotten together recently. But I have been teaching MY kids how to play. Hey, I was taught by my parents, might as well pass it on (not to mention all the skills they gain from it!)0 -
Where to start? I do three jobs, graphics, software design, and photography. The graphics and software design go hand in hand at the same company. Think virtual reality or augmented reality.
Outside of work I have created a networked media environment at my home. The music even follows me room to room. As does whatever video I'm watching, even to my deck outside. I have several computers at home half of which run Linux. I can control my whole home, heat, door locks, lights whatever via the internet.
I can use an abacus.
I make clockwork furniture.
I brew my own beer.
I have gym equipment in every room.
I drive a smart car
I turned an old fashioned chrome typewriter into a laptop computer, keeping the old keyboard, for a friend of mine who at 6'7" and felt he was a bit too large for a laptop (his fingers hit too many keys at once)
and worst of all I still have a TRS 80 from radio shack. It lives in the closet but was my first computer.0 -
roast coffee
brew beer (well, it's been a while)
count calories (that counts as geeky)
write code
make pizza, on occasion. it's a 2-3 day labor of love involving an 800 degree oven.
nice!!!!0 -
I just might fit right in. I'm a comic geek. I know more about the Marvel Universe than the average person should know, pre 1995 or so. Along my wall at work I have Marvel figures lined up.
I'm also an electronics geek too. I'm a retired mod on an iphone forum. I've been hacking my iphone since the first gen came out and rose to the ranks of mod on one of the biggest boards.
I'm a sci-fi/fantasy geek too. My most recent foray into that arena was the Anita Blake series.
Oh and I'm a sports geek too. I can tell you where most pros played their college ball. When I watch sports I'm not looking at the quarterback throwing the ball or the receiver catching the ball. I'm more likely to watch the pulling lineman's kick out block on the edge to spring the receiver for a bubble screen and seeing how well the linebacker scrapes.
I'm also a geek in the 'instructables' sense. I like to take things apart just to see how they work. I also like to (re)build things just to see if I can.
I'm a computer geek too. I coded my first website in Notepad. Someone mentioned building a homebrew DVR. I thought about doing the same so I could stream my recorded shows to my various iDevices. I've run Windows, Linux, and bought a laptop just so I could turn it into a hackintosh.
I'm also a sneaker geek. I have a pretty impressive collection of vintage and retro Nikes. While I love Air Jordans, I also love 89' Flights and older Uptempos. My shoes are all kept in their original boxes when an OG box can be had. My next purchase will be a pair of 1988 Fire Red 3 Jordans and the retro version released in 2007.Also love shows about aliens, bigfoot, Nessy, etc.
I heart you. I love anything cryptozoology.0 -

Since I work in cyber security I deal with cryptology pretty regularly and understand it at a high level. Actual cryptologists blow my f’ing mind, though.0 -

1- I read sci-fi and fantasy NONSTOP.
2- My boyfriend and I are constantly watching one of the following: Star Trek original series; Star Trek TNG; Twilight Zone (original)
3- I am AWESOME at HP trivia
4- More importantly, I am AWESOME at LOTR Trivial Pursuit. My entire room was decorated with LOTR posters and action figures growing up
5- I can tell you anything about any of the DC universe heroes. I am a rabid Hal Jordan fan.
6- All of my bookmarks are webcomics, which I cycle through every single morning while eating breakfast
7- I am a certified beta reader and copyeditor
But none of these are secret. My most secret geekiness of all:
I was once an avid HP fanfiction reader ... and writer. A pretty popular one too, I might add! Lol. I don't do this anymore... I swear...0 -

I run around my neighborhood wearing superman briefs and a red blanket tied around my neck looking for Lois Lane... speaking of which.... anyone seen Lois?
When I was 7 My Mom bought me some Superman Underoos for my birthday. I already had superman pajamas that came with a cape. I remember Throwing on my new underoos and that cape and "flying" around outside.
I am superman!0 -
I collect GI Joes. Not the little tiny ones that are available now, but the original action figure, standing at 11 1/2 inches tall. I have in the neighborhood of 200 or so. No, dammit they are NOT dolls.
Oh yeah, I'm a total XBox *kitten* too.0 -
BF and I have a game night every week with friends. Sooo many board games.
I also enjoy Starcraft and I gave up WOW several years ago, it broke up my marriage. lol
I've seen WOW do a lot of damage to marriages, friendships, and people's careers. All in moderation I guess.
WoW wasn't the only thing that broke up my marriage, but it helped. I couldn't be more grateful, lol WoW also brought my boyfriend and I together, so it worked out.
I've been playing since '05 or '06. I forget when. got 2 85s and 7 characters 80+ ... one of every class but DK. I've tried 4 or 5 times to level a dk, but I just don't like how the class mechanics work. It's not for me.
/350ish days played across all of my current characters. It's nuts to think that I've wasted close to an entire year sitting in front of the comp playing WoW.0 -

Oh yeah... well maybe my mom bought me the same underoos and that's what I'm wearing. So what if they're a little tighter and a slightly faded. My cape is better than your cape. My mommy said so.
I am SuperMan!!@!0 -

I'm pretty geeky methinks, but it's all out in the open for everyone to see. Let's see here.....
1. Met my husband on a MUD (Multi User Dungeon for those who don't know), some 12 years ago when I was an "Immortal/Dungeon Master" and had one of the highest level female characters on there, having remorted (gone through 10 incarnations of her) multiple times to get there. One of my favourite hobbies was slaying the resident red dragon with pet griffins, lol.
2. Been playing on video game consoles and computers since I was 5 (first was a nintendo with mario brothers, woot woot!)
3. Between the two of us, hubby and I have a small (but growing) collection of various video game/TV show/movie memorabilia. We have a hungarian horntail sculpture/bookend from harry potter, a Tardis from Doctor Who (that actually makes noises!!), a sack boy stuffed toy, a claymore sword (3 guesses ). I also proudly wear my "University of Gallifrey" t shirt on a regular basis.
4. Between us, we've got so much computer hardware and consoles that it's taking over our apartment (plus more in a storage unit), so much so that our dining table is now used as a computer table. Old amigas, macs, PS3 and peripherals, etc, all over the place.
5. Love watching all the Star Trek episodes from TNG and Voyager. Also, really love Doctor Who (quote him on a daily basis - "Allons-y" anyone?), Battlestar galactica, LOTR (seen it so many times now can't even remember) and Harry Potter (again, seen these sooo many times).
Hmm, that's about it for now, oh and we also have a rubik's cube collection, and I work as a clothing designer in a 3D virtual world, hahaha.
edit: Forgot to add, used to be addicted to EQ, but stopped playing for fear I would never see sunlight again. Never got into WOW for that very same reason, lol0 -

There are two kinds of metal in this yard: scrap and art. If you gotta eat one of them, eat the scrap. What you currently have - IN YOUR MOUTH! - is ART.0 -
Love Cranium! Our newest obsession is 7 Wonders and Citadels I love having the friends over and discovering new board games.
I'm loving them more than the MMORPG's because there is less drama and everyone is always in a good mood vs getting yelled at if you are not standing in the right spot and you get aggro and your whole group gets slaughter... and maybe, just maybe I did that on purpose. No one will ever know! Muhahahahaha! /giggle0 -
My boyfriend and I drive all over town to all the thrift stores looking for books. Books are literally taking over our house.
We are serious Chuck fans (doesn't get much geekier than Chuck) We even dressed up as Chuck and Sarah for Halloween last year.
We make homemade sausage every year. That includes the grinding, seasoning and packaging. I don't know if that's geeky but people always look at me weird when I tell them.0 -
I also want to be your best friend.
Mine...not so secret really, but here goes.
1. Going to the PA Ren Faire tomorrow; been quite a few times in years past and love it. Thinking of dressing up this time!
2. I read graphic novels....yeah yeah...comic books.
3. I play D&D (did until my bro had to start K9 academy back up but we'll be starting again soon; and the newest edition sucks).
4. I played WoW for awhile, before that I played Everquest (our very geeky 8 y/o daughter plays Wizards 101, can't imagine where she gets that from!).
5. I've read LotR many many times and I'm currently planning my backpiece based on the Door of Moria.
6. I want to build and live in a replica of Bilbo's house in the Shire; I'm short enough and could probably do it to scale!
I'm sure there's more but now I'm too busy daydreaming about my Hobbit home....0 -
omg... im adding this now and writing later.. work is done for the day and i have to leave... but i love you all!0

Was addicted to blitz chess for a while.0
