    Hello
    I am happy to find a open group to help me through the year. Thank you for starting this group.
    I am 41, married, no children. I work full time (desk job). I will be traveling for work several times this year. I am very nervous about what I am going to eat. I have been preparing all my meals for the past two months. No eating out.

    I will definitely need the motivation if I see spikes during those weeks I am away.

    The numbers are coming in, looks like everyone is meeting their challenge AND losing weight.

    I've started a blog at http://ahealthandfitnessjournal.wordpress.com/ Yesterday's post was pretty basic, about food tracking and staying within your calorie goals. I'm writing the next post on making food choices and thoughts on macro nutrients. Should be up today or tomorrow.

    Hello everyone,
    Glad to see all of your progress. Congratulations. Nice to see new members. Anyone in this group is welcome to add me as a friend. I lost a bit more than a pound this week. My nutrional goal is going to remain with the water (over 8 cups). I want to change to making healthy meals at home but not sure this is the week for alot of success with that one although I will work on it. I am going to add an exercise goal which is to continue with good exercise despite a busier week. As to how I did last week I would say that I eventually met my goal and it helped. Last week I started weight training. I am looking forward to reading your blog Gwen.

    Happy Monday Everyone!

    Goal #1 - 8 glasses of water / day, goal met.

    Goal #2 - Gym 2 times remainder of the week. I didn't make it to the gym, but I walked and did a TON of yard work - including hauling brush and logs from a downed tree.

    Goals for this week will be the same... 8 glasses of water/day, gym (activity) 3 times/week

    No weight down. But I am staying in the calorie allotment.
    Goal # 1 3 walks this week (baby steps!) and 8 glasses of water- I'm not quite making it now. I only weigh myself on Fridays but will put in my Monday weight for this.

    Hello there! Is it still okay if I join your group... and your challenge? I'm over 40, needing to lose over 40!!!

    My name is Christine, I turned 49 earlier this month and I live in Wisconsin with my husband and 12-year-old daughter (from my first marriage). By my calculations, it is 18 weeks until Christmas........ my goal is to lose 25 pounds by then. This morning, I weighed 190.2 pounds, so that would put me at 165. That's a little more than 1/2 of what I need to lose to get my life back.

    I started working a full-time job in April, and sitting at a desk for 40 hours a week, plus an hour (or more) of driving each day has had a horrible effect on me! My lower back has suffered greatly, and is preventing me from taking walks "around the block" (1.25 miles). Much of my home time is spent alone, with hubby working in a different city during the week, and daughter with her father every-other week, so motivation is definitely my greatest challenge. Fatigue is also providing me with a daily challenge. Today, I planned for my eating all day - no lunchtime visit to a restaurant!!! - but I'm feeling very hungry despite all the fruits & veggies I've been munching on all day.

    Drinking water is my one strong point!! I drink LOTS of it! My goal for this week is to plan for 3 workday lunches and pack food from home (the other 2 days are lunch meetings so there's not much control there).

    I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you and meeting - or exceeding - our Christmas challenges! Thank you!

    Welcome Christine, and yes you can absolutely join. Must be tough eating alone lots, I find it hard too to cook well for just myself. Sorry about your back, maybe you can try aquasize or something low stress on your back for exercise.

    Ok so these are going to be my goals for this upcoming week!

    1. Drink at least 10 cups of water a day
    2. Not eating after 7:00 pm
    3. Eat at least 2 cups of vegetables per day.

    Yes Monday is weigh in day, but if for some reason that doesn't work for you and you need to submit on another day that us ok too! Good luck with your interview :)

    Hi everyone,
    I'm 50 years old and have lost 54 lbs since November 2010. I would like to lose an additional 20 lbs by Christmas. Depending on which scale in the house I weigh myself on, I weigh either 151 or 161 right now. I prefer to weigh myself on the one that shows me
    weighing less:-)
    My nutritional goal for this week is to drink at least six glasses of water a day.
    Here's to all of us meeting our goals by Christmas!!

    Hi everyone. I'd like to join too. I've got a long journey ahead of me so this will be a nice challenge to get me further down the road. I am 46, an engineer, married for 18 years, and mother to two lovely little girls that I adopted from China. They just started 2nd and 3rd grade yesterday.

    I have been working hard on increasing my water consumption and reducing sodas and teas, so I will also try to keep my water at 10 glasses/day. I will try to keep the diet sodas to 1/week and the tea to 3/week.

    I'm joining because I need all the help and motivation I can get. I'm 44, married for 15 years but have been with my husband for 25. Work full time as a IT Support Admin. I am a Team Mom for my 9 yr old daughter's cheerleading squad and she keeps me busy with her cheearleading 5 days a week :) I need to lose weight for my health but I either don't know what I'm doing or I'm not motivated enough.     Welcome samhradh, Pangui and Squirkie. samhradh that sounds like a very interesting job, we fundraised once way back when I was in school by moving chickens that were being shipped to market from their cages to their truck, my gosh what a chore! I couldn't imagine having your job! Pangui that most have been an experiencing adopting from China, what lucky little girls! Squirkie sometimes motivation comes from different places, for me it was looking in the mirror one day and really seeing myself, I think my subconscious won't let my mind really see the real me and when I did OMGosh! I need to change. It will come from somewhere.

    I keep hearing about school starting everywhere, it must be pretty consistent that it started in the states, in Canada at least where I am my kids don't go back until Sep 1 and my daughter starts University September 7.

My boys have been out of the house for 8 years now & my daughter leaves for her first year of college on Friday ... I'm so afraid I'm going to lose my motivation with her gone! I've lost 61 pounds so far and would love to lose 19 pounds by Christmas. I weigh in on Sundays and like many need to get back to drinking more water!

    Are you playing field hockey in that picture? I am from Seattle but we lived in Ohio when I was in high school and we played field hockey alot. Never played it before or since and this picture remimnded me of it.
