Hi everyone - just checking in. Hoping to have a calm night although my 5 year old thinks we need to bake choc. chip cookies - my weigh-in says that we don't. Have a great night.

It's seems like everybody is having a bit of an "off" day today - sick, or not feeling quite themselves, or kids driving them crazy!

Harley and I went to the mall with my mom today. I tried on some jeans. One pair of size 8 almost fit! They zipped and buttoned but were a little too tight still. I was going to get them as a short-term goal pair of jeans. But they were $37.50. I know that's not a lot. (It's not like a $200 pair of jeans.) But that's still a lot of money to me. I told DH I'll check again after Christmas. If they're still there and reduced more, then I'm meant to get them. Otherwise, oh well. (My how things change with kids. Before I was married or had Harley, I would've bought them without thinking about the price.)

I ate 2 pieces of Hershey's pie tonight. :noway: I went SO over my calories. There's one piece left that DH needs to hurry up and eat. Then it'll be all gone and I won't have to try to resist and fail. I don't plan on buying another one either!

I hope everybody that's having a bad day has a better day tomorrow! I think, at least for me, a lot of it is crappy winter - cold days, getting dark early. I SO can't wait until summer (or even spring). I just tell myself that by the time Christmas is over, so is the shortest day of the year and it will only get better. :flowerforyou:

3BB - I saw your pictures of Tabitha on the "proud" thread and I have to tell you she is just adorable! I love her hair! :noway: Are you sure one of your boy beans didn't shove her finger in an electrical socket when you weren't looking?

This morning I laid a drowsy Harley down in her pack-n-play and she actually fell aleep! :noway: So I walked on the treadmill for half an hour. Then I started to do my excercise ball workout. But she woke up and got fussy. So I laid her on the loveseat with a pillow on either side of her to prop her up and she's been hanging out there for a while.

I could just squeeze those little cheeks! Such a cute baby!

I'll be back later to really check in!

Oh, and thanks, Lori! Zeke really did rub a balloon on her head at his b.day party when she was nearly 4 months old & that was incredibly hilarious. I didn't think it could stand up MORE than what it already did!

Good morning ladies. Daughters normal schedule is all off...she woke up around 6:30 this mornin, ate and went back to sleep. I should have been smart enough to get up and exercise but NO.... I went back to sleep. So now I'm waiting until 10 when I know she'll wake up and be hungry, then I can feed her and hopefully she will play happily while I exercise. I think she's going thru a growth spurt she's been a little pig lately but today is the first day that she's slept a whole bunch.
Went to my hubby's nephews birthday party last night. He turned 4 and he is so shy and bashful the only time he made an appearance was to tell his mom he wanted cake and then when he opened his presents. He's so dang cute.
Going out shopping again today. Actually I have to return an item I bought yesterday, because my mother bought the same thing I did for my son  I also need to find a shirt for me to wear for our family pics this weekend (cancelled the last session cuz we were fighting and DH ended up working last saturday). We found shirts for Dre, Adi and DH, but everything I tried on last night didn't fit me that well. I will be really happy to get out of the 18/20, XXL stage. I would like to just walk into a store..ANY STORE..and pick out something cute, try it on, and have it fit...or better yet have it be too big. I'm half way to my goal....
OH Which reminds me....I hate men  let me rephrase that I hate the way men lose weight. You know those slimquick commercials....that's exactly how I feel right now. My DH has a very active job...he's a commercial plumber, so he's diggin trenches, carrying pipe, doing all sorts of things all day. He doesn't work out. Supposedly he has quit eating as much as he used too (I haven't seen a difference) and he's dropped like15 lbs in MAYBE 2 months. My FIL is having some health problems and the docs ordered him off carbs about 2 months ago and he's lost 20 lbs. He also has an active job but no working out. I've been working my butt off for almost 4 months now and I've only lost (what does my ticker say) 23 lbs. Granted I'm very very proud of that 23 lbs but I've EARNED. These guys just change their eating habits for 60 days and lose 20 lbs....JERKS!!! And my DH likes to rub it in that he's dropped weight so fast...okay rub it in isn't the right term. But he tries to laugh it off and it hurts my feelings that I'm working so hard toward my goal and he can just cut back on his food intake and get the same results IN LESS TIME! ARGHHH!!!! MEN can't live with them and can't bury them in the backyard!
However just so I don't end this in a men hater tone....My hubby bought my HRM. Of course I don't get it until Christmas. And he told his brother to buy me hand weights or the Turbo Jam gloves and some new Turbo Jam workouts. Now if my brother gets the Hungry Girl cook book and the Eat this Not that book I asked for I will have a WONDERFUL Christmas. Yes I know Christmas isn't about the gifts, but those will be gifts that will keep on giving
Sorry I'm rambling this morning. Off to do my workout.
    Have a great day!

Hey all, I hope you all are well. I am on the desk top upstairs and need to get off so I can go rest more. I put away laundry this morning and even that was pushing it. SO this may be my only post today. I miss my buddies. *sniff*
In laws are going home today. I am kind of glad, not that it's been a pain. They've helped a lot but it will be nice to have the house to myself again...I think. The dishes won't get done though. I've eaten fast food too much this week so I am looking forward to eating homemade food even if it is boxed lasagna. Ha ha.
I just heard my MIL tell my FIL that I have the best supply of dishes and cookware that she's ever seen. Aw! I guess I should use it more often.
Hubby is walking again today and had a smile on his face so he's feeling better. His left side is covered in blisters and hives still. Kind of looks like he slid on his side down a sidewalk or someone beat him up. Kind of gross. I'm glad he's better in time to help me this weekend.
Gotta get little one some breakfast. Have a good day!

What the heck happened to your husband, MM!?! That sounds horrible! Good luck without the ILs & I'm glad the baby's still hanging in there!

Lyn - I feel the same way about men & weight loss. My husband is going to actively persue it starting in Jan. & I'm dreading how easy it is going to be for him. I just need to push myself through December so I'm THAT much closer to my goal & I can be THAT much less bitter when he drops it in like a month. :grumble: Hope you got all your stuff done!

Wow, it's been a really trying week for all of us, hasn't it? Myself and Darrell included, that's why I haven't been on very much. I've been hacking and trying to control the flow of snot from my nose on the couch, while Darrell's been coloring. I  the fact that he will just sit and color most of the day away. I don't feel very productive, but it's like he understands that I don't feel well. I haven't caught up on everything, just the last couple posts, so if I missed something you said, crack me over the head.

3BB - I love that new picture. Too precious!

Lori - Harley is too cute. It sounds like she's doing really well with napping, which is great!!! How cool that you got a workout in while she was sleeping!

D's mom - DH is exactly like that. He likes to say he gained all my pregnancy weight, because I only gained 25 pounds and he gained...a lot more than that. But then all he had to do was start drinking water and get a more physical job, and now he weighs less than he did when we met. :explode: I wish it was that easy for me!!!! LOL

MM - I had shingles when I was 12. It was so incredibly painful. So - your poor DH! It sounds like you guys need a couple weeks off! Make sure you don't do too much, okay? Your health is the most important thing right now. :flowerforyou:

    Good morning ladies!

Loki- I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. I love that kids seems to know when mama isn't quite normal. Mine always seem to mellow out just a bit when I'm not feeling well. I wish my kid loved to color....I wish my kid loved something other than video games :grumble: oh well....

3bb- I hope you are getting lots done this week cuz I know you are spending less time on here and that's got to be giving you like an extra 6 hours or something  j/k

MM-I glad that your DH is feeling better. ILs are wonderful to have around...for a little while. I bet Alex will be sad to see them go.

Well last night about 10:30 I suddenly had a light bulb go off in my head about stocking stuffers and last minute gift ideas, so I was up late price checking online and writing down which stores have what and where I need to go today. I'll tell you what, if I can get everything done today I would have such a sense of accomplishment and relief. Next week I will focus on christmas cards and wrapping gifts...and then I need to make goodies for the neighbors. I will be so happy to see the new year and go back to doing absolutely nothing in the afternoons

Off to workout...Have a great day!

Oh by the way....what do you guys eat for breakfast??? I'm so tired of my same old routine. I'm not a big fan of eggs or oatmeal. I usually just have Special K cereal and green tea or waffles with pb and jelly with green tea. I need something new. Yogurt and fruit usually fall into my snack category but maybe I need to switch it up....I don't know....What do you eat???

1 c. Kashi Go Lean Crunch w/ 1/3 c. Stoneyfield Farm Organic Banilla Yogurt on top & a random piece of fruit or blueberries mixed in.

2 pieces whole wheat toast spread w/ olivio, a random yoplait yogurt, a random piece of fruit

PB & banana on a whole weat tortilla & 8 oz. skim milk

Multigrain Cheerios w/ milk, random piece of fruit, hot tea

Oatmeal w/ brown sugar & raisins

Christmas cookles & homemade toffee...w/ yogurt

Lyn - It gives me about 7-8 hours extra a day. I've been randomly busy. I've been trying to do some serious house organizing & that means my house is a disaster zone. Tabitha is teething so she's nursing like crazy & wants to be held constantly...and parts of my body are sore from it. :grumble: Starting potty training Micah so him running around naked means I can't just observe play time from a safe distance. I need to be in the splash zone. Plus, all the Christmas baking I have to do for my family & my husband's employees. 50 people need cookie bags for next Friday so I've been baking & freezing all week. It is a test in my patience to say the least! Good job getting all that stuff done! Christmas is so much less stressful when the "chores" get done early.

Loki - I hope you feel better soon! My kids are the opposite. "Mommy doesn't feel well?! Let's see what we can destroy!!!!" I'm so glad Darrell likes to color. The only thing my boys like to sit & do is play-doh & that doesn't usually end well.

Hi guys, checking in here. Had a busy day (put up Christmas tree last night, and dog is lying underneath it). Today I go to my daughter's kindergarten class to help her make a gingerbread house and have hot chocolate with her. I wish I could take pictures to share but I lost my digital camera when I went to the NASCAR race last month:sad:  :grumble:

    Have a safe weekend everyone!

Those parfaits rule-- absolutely!! Hello everyone-- and nitey-nite-- heading to bed, weary.

If I didn't know better, which I probably don't-- I'd think I was pregnant. I am so achy in my wrists and joints, and I tend to get that way in the very early stages of pregnancy-- carpal tunnel type pain in the hands. We'll see-- I'm not due for another week, but my stomach is so flippin' huge I want to shoot myself.

Probably all just whacked out hormones-- but, who knows? Truly don't wish to have 10 wee ones-- but, whatever? I'm not quite there with Michelle Duggar, the lady with 18 kids in Arkansas who pops one out and gushes, "Oh, we'd just love to have another. We can't wait." Um, not exactly. But, when I find out I am pregnant, I always rejoice even if I didn't "want' more kids. Make sense?

Sara-- that picture of Tabitha is just edible-- I want to eat her up-- Harley, too-- and Darrell-- heck, babies, gotta love 'em. Can't imagine how people can hurt them.

We were watching the coverage of the search for Caylee Anthony in Florida-- seems they have found her. So sad to think what that sweet little thing went through, from the person she should have been able to trust the most. So many questions I'll have for God some day in glory-- question number one, "Splain why you allowed that, Lord?" I just don't get how and why he allows such suffering of the children.

Question two will be about mosquitoes-- what's up with that, God? A bug that sucks my blood? What were you thinking? :noway:

Oh well-- lunatic musings from a sleep deprived nutjob.

MM-- bless your heart-- hang in there, dear lady. As if you bedridden wasn't enough, hubby gets shingles? Yeesh-- I've heard they're dreadful. May I never find out firsthand.

I had some yummies with the kids today. Counted all day, then had some frozen pizza, some M&Ms, a Hershey's kiss and some peanuts. All in all, more than I should have. But, truly-- I've been so flippin' good all week and have only a gain to show for it-- grrrrrr-- I figured WTF. :blushing: Did I just say that?

okay-- yeah, sleep deprived-- heading to sleepytime.

    Nytol-- !!!!!!!!!
  • MM - Oh how beautiful!! I hope you and you little black hole/white spots are doing wonderfully! Rest up, it will all be worth it!:flowerforyou:

Speaking of babies - DS has made it his personal mission to assist my new life change. I made myself two slices of toast with cream cheese this morning in addition to my egg and slice of bacon. He crawls over and pulls himself up beside my chair and opens his mouth.

I put the toast in front of his little birdie mouth, thinking he just wants a bite. Well, an entire slice of toast later he crawls away. Little butt head ate my toast. But, I must thank him because it shaved off about 70 calories from breakfast that I probably didn't need.

I am sure he is trying to make amends for gaining weight while pregnant with him.

I just had to respond to this! Lately my DS does the same thing - he wants anything I am about to eat. My son is a freakin' vacuum!! He won't take anything Daddy has to eat, nooo, it has to be MY food. I'm calling it the Mommy diet. So far I've lost a pound? Hehe. Tonight for dinner WE had sweet pickles, salad, and bread. Weird yes but I was feeling weird and DH wasn't home so I could eat what I wanted. Anyway, DS kept stealing my food and taking bites then throwing it off the high chair for the cats. Dang kids :)

Anyway, I'm new here and I think I should definitely hang out in this thread. I'm the SAHM of Toby, who is almost 11 months old. I have about 140 lbs to lose. It's gonna take a while :) But I'd like to get healthy soon because I want to have another baby. My last pregnancy was really rough and I almost died, but I don't want Toby to be alone so I want to give him a sibling. If I will live through it - we're talking to a high risk OB later this month to see what she thinks. Anyway, it's late and I have yoga in the morning... nice to "meet" you guys!
  • Good Morning All!

I'm new to the thread and new to MFP overall... so yea just up early feeding my one month old:happy:

Yay! 2 more members! Welcome to the group, both of you! Adorable kids, too!

Marla - seriously, mosquitos. In my top 3 when I get up there, too. Mosquitos, dinos & why on earth butter makes everything taste better.

MM - woo hoo for the laptop living to see another day! I hope everyone has a good day at your house!

Lyn - parfaits are one of my favorite things at McD's. Mmmm...that & the chicken & biscuit. *drool*

    Welcome new people!

Wolfie - The Mommy Diet! So cute! DS has continued eating my food as well, but it makes sure I only eat about half of whats on my plate! :ohwell:

3BB - You now have me thinking about butter. I got some of that Smart Balance stuff... not quite the same, but not nearly as terrible as I thought it would be.

    Welcome to the newbies!

Marla, you know there is a way to stop all that...you know having babies.

Well, today is so far better than yesterday. DH is here and ready to help with everything. He said he would try not to complain. lol. I am not spotting or hurting too much at the moment, and I did feel really nauseated when I went to the bathroom a bit ago. And I have to go quite a bit! lol
I talked to my mom awhile ago and told her we may not be coming down for Christmas which would be the first time for me not to be with them when we have our Christmas Eve celebration. She got kind of upset, "Why not?!" Uh, mom, have you not heard anything I've been telling you since I told you I am pregnant? B-e-d-r-e-s-t. I guess I have to spell it out. I don't know what she's thinking. I told her something either really good or really bad will have to happen in order for me to be able to go. She's a positive thinker. I am optimistic but I can't positively think things in to existence. My beliefs go a little deeper than that. Obviously I know thoughts make a difference but just thinking and hoping you are going to be okay doesn't mean you will be. KWIM?
The cat box has a door on it and it got stuck so the cat peed and pooped on the floor. Exactly what I need to be smelling right now. My DH is going to have to drag out the big old carpet cleaner. If he would have put the lid on right in the first place.... I have always changed it and now I don't have to. Hee hee. So I should cut him some slack. He only changes if for nine months about every three years. Ha ha.
I'm off to work on my cross stitch. That burns calories right? Uh, not enough to make up for all I'm eating. Oh well. I've only gained a couple of pounds the last two weeks, even with all the junk so I am okay with that.
    Have a blessed day!
    MM
  • Baby Ayden is eating again so I'm at the computer again... trying to resist the urge to snack... I think thats my biggest problem... I'm breastfeeding so when baby eats which is llike every 2-3 hrs Im tied to a chair for 20 min or so with only one hand free, perfect set up for snacking... and today my moms baking cookies for a church musical thing tonight... ugh they smell so good... but I refrained and just had one square of ghiradelli peppermint bark, only 59 cal according to the food log and it always quenches my sweet tooth, I feel like I'm in heaven when Im eating it lol anywho, gotta switch the side baby is on..tata
  • Supermom, congrats on breastfeeding! Good for you! When you breastfeed you are supposed to eat and drink more to keep your body producing that milk, so maybe snacking isn't all that bad. As long as you resist the cookies and nibble on carrots or something instead :) Breastfeeding burns extra calories too :)

I didn't breastfeed because my son was 7 weeks early and was in the NICU for so long. You'd never know that he was a preemie to look at him though! But I really admire breastfeeders and hope I can do it with my next baby.

Well I ended up not going to my yoga class this morning - first big snowstorm of the year, and I've never taken our car in snow before so I was nervous. I started the 100 pushups program yesterday and MY ARMS ARE DYING. I only did like 9 pushups too! Argh. So anyway, now I have to figure out how to exercise today with the snowy-snow and the husband being home and the baby underfoot. Wish me luck!
  • back again lol Thanks wolfie, I still use formula for his last feeding of the night because it stays in his stomach longer so I get more sleep lol but other than getting him to stay awake during his feedings breastfeeding has been pretty good, and burning extra calories while just sitting here feeding him doesnt hurt either:wink:

Im glad your son is doing so great! I dont know what I wouldve don if Ayden was born premature, I cried when he had to be put under the special lights for his jaundice... of course hormones probably have a lot to do with that too lol:tongue: I hope you find a way to exercise today, do you have any yoga DVDs for at home when u have to miss class?
